The Orca Beach Hideaway is a private, high bank waterfront 3-bedroom home with expansive views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This secluded San Juan Island home offers a hot tub, a nearby trail head to a beautiful sandy beach (rare in the San Juan Islands), a large grassy yard and wrap around deck, a wood burning stove, and a ping pong table. The special location of this house offers an amazing view spot for the local wildlife. Guests can also enjoy the hot tub (serviced professionally on a weekly basis), the large yard (with a high bank) and provided yard games (challenge your family to a round of corn hole!). You'll enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets, and possibly experience whales swimming by, which is almost daily during the summer months!

The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and a gas Viking range. The kitchen is open to the dining and living room with large windows looking out to the sea. The main level of the home has 2 bedrooms each furnished with queen size beds. The upstairs primary suite is furnished with a queen size bed and has a balcony with water views as well as an adjoining primary bathroom. There is also a crib and toddler bed available upstairs for those with young children.

The lower level of the home offers entertainment - ping pong table and flat screen television with a Smart TV and Roku. There is a sleeper -sofa located in the lower level as well. Gauge the wind speed and incoming weather with the provided weather station! This home also offers wireless internet.

This is a wonderful family vacation home; however, parents please take caution of the steep terrain at the end of the large grassy yard.

Orca Beach Hideaway is located next to a unique island beach (Eagle Cove) which is great for swimming, sunbathing, skim boarding, and paddle boarding.

Firewood is provided in off season.

The hot tub is serviced professionally on a weekly basis.

Please be advised, yard maintenance may occur during your stay.

**This home has a high bank waterfront yard**.

Pets are not allowed at this property.

We enjoyed the hottub every morning while watching the ocean. We took walks down to the beach. We found the "secret" entrance to the hiking trails at the end of the street. We especially enjoyed the wild life trail through the property. We saw River Otters, raccoons, deer,Bald eagles and few Orcas. The ping pong table kept us quite busy. I have to mention the well appointed kitchen. Especially the Wolf stove was fantastic. I one thing I missed was a TV on the main floor.

Threadbare house, incredible view

Sincerely appaled by the positive reviews for this property. I'll be the first to say it, then: this home is a dirty overpriced disappointment. We knew this was an older home/ikea rental situation and chose to book it for the view. Everything was wiped down and serviceable, but considering the exorbitant cleaning fee, we expected a nicer stay. Everything felt a bit grimy and neglected. Baseboards peeling from walls with dust and bits of dead bugs, chipping and stained furniture, etc. The master bath jets were caked with mystery green grime, so no bath for baby. The house has no AC and one small slow ceiling fan. The master bedroom sliding door is inoperable so cooling down the upstairs is impossible in the evening. The house is in full sun all day, beware if you are booking during any weather above 75. The view is the best part, but trying to keep the house cool means window curtains drawn. The only outdoor furniture is two adirondak chairs, and they were so overgrown with grass and weeds they were unusable. The lawn was studded with spiky weeds and huge balls of lawn trimmings were dried and matted everywhere. The driveway entrance is overgrown so we couldn't safely pull our truck camper in to park without taking out huge branches. The host/company has a list of chores to do before you leave, absolutely greedy given how high the cleaning fee is. The dishes smelled foul. We would not stay here again, given the price with the cleaning fee we expected much better.

We saw orca whales swimming by the house. Two different fox came to visit in the evenings. We took full advantage of all the area has to offer: a short drive to both Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor to wander through the town and have something to eat, the Alpaca Farm, a whale watching tour and more. The house itself had plenty of room for our family of 6. We stayed a week, it was a wonderful experience!

Perfect Family Island Getaway

We stayed for four days with our family of 8. We have 6 kids ages 11 and under. The location of the Eagle Cove beach was wonderful. Extremely easy walk for all ages. It was also an easy drive to all island destinations. I originally was concerned about the cliff in the photo. If you have young children that wander or donā€™t listen, that might be stressful. Due to the ages of our children it was no issue. We loved the views, hot tub, outdoor eating area, games (monopoly was of course a hit), seeing the foxes and the kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfy and rooms were clean. The check out time would benefit from an 10:30 or 11am timing, which seems to be a consistent feedback from reviewers. We did appreciate that even though it said youā€™d get fined arriving before 4pm for check in, that we received a text that it was ready early. All in all weā€™d stay there again and recommend it to others. Thank you!

Amazing spot! Comfortable, clean home

We had a wonderful time here. The house was clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and even had a really well seasoned cast iron skillet that was a joy to use. In other reviews, people mentioned the sparse decor, but for a family with small children, this was absolutely perfect. The house has a spectacular view and they have a telescope and binoculars there to use. We had a great time checking out the stars and the wildlife. While we were there we saw sea lions, a bald eagle family, and a whale! The property is right next door to eagle cove beach which was incredible. The path leading down to the water isnā€™t paved but was definitely manageable for our 2 year old and 3 year old. Overall, Iā€™d highly recommend a stay here and we hope to be back in the future!

The American Camp next door provides endless paths to walk on. The house itself is lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the ping pong table and jacuzzi. We even got a sighting of the beautiful red fox with the big bushy tail who came by the house looking for a little breakfast. Truly a treat and a home i would return to.

A great place to stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Incredible views. We had everything we needed.

Great views

A bit Spartan but fabulous views. Practically no decoration in a huge home. Would have benefitted from directions on how to use the propane stove downstairs. Well equipped except for no TV on the main or second floors. Photos show a spotting scope but not there.

Every day was wonderful. Just walking up the stairs and looking across the strait to the olympic mountains would trigger a dopamine response. I canā€™t recommend it enough.
