Our Plantation Palms 2BR condo is exactly what you need if you want a ground floor unit, have young children or anyone with mobility issues. Walk in and walk out, this is an extremely convenient condo!

More importantly, it's gorgeous!

This ground floor 2BR / 2BA condo in the Plantation Palms building at Gulf Shores Plantation is just what the doctor ordered if you're looking for a great getaway to the beaches of Fort Morgan. Sleeps 9 comfortably; Beds: queen bed in the master, bunk bed (double over double, plus twin trundle) in the second bedroom, plus a new queen sleeper sofa in living room. All new bedding (Tommy Bahama) and artwork make this a great getaway!

Interior Appointments: Fully equipped kitchen, 3 flat screen TVs, DVD player, wireless internet access, washer and dryer, gulf front patio accessible via living room, high-end cotton linens.

Complex Amenities: The Plantation has six outdoor pools, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness center, seven lighted tennis courts, basketball and shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, and outdoor charcoal grills & picnic tables.

*Parking is limited to two (2) cars per unit. You will be required to purchase your parking pass(es) in advance directly from Plantation Palms (we will email you instructions 7-days prior to arrival). The location was perfect for us. We could easily come in from the beach and leave our things on the patio. Loved not having to get on an elevator. Patio is so peaceful at night and in the morning. The condo had everything we needed except for enough toilet paper and dishwashing tabs. It is recommended from the company to bring extra supplies regarding those things. It was perfect for us and our three kids who each got their own beds with the bunk and trundle. We even had room for two more kids because its a full size bunk. Hope to return in the future!

We left with a so so feel about the condo. The garbage collection was right outside the door to the condo, which I know that they can’t help that but it was not a good experience. And the garbage truck woke us up every morning. The view was good. Access to ocean was nice.

A little disappointed

We love staying at plantation palms normally. This time, however, we arrived to find our ground floor balcony (a VERY much loved and enjoyed space for our family) to be completely blocked off and unuseable due to construction. Also the floors were sticky in the kitchen.

Family Beach Stay

This property is accurately listed and very conveniently located within the resort. The bottom floor unit is great for kids and families who enjoy easy and quick access to the pool and beach areas. The unit is directly next to the trash dumpster area but there was no issue with noise or smell except on the mornings when the dumpsters were emptied (we actually found it a convenience to be so close to empty our trash). Cleaning staff could have done a bit better job, but I know they have many units to work through. Overall, would rent again due to location.

Great Time

The condo was very nice and we enjoyed the stay. Only one complaint would be the pull out sofa sleeper, it felt like we were upside down while laying down. We also had to use the couch cushions to place underneath the mattress in order to be able to get comfortable. This condo is in a great location and very family friendly. Also, not having to use the elevator or stairs for the vacay is great, highly recommend!

Family vacation

Overall a good property for sure, but could definitely use a few improvements. The pros are that the bottom floor is nice if you have small children or elderly. Our grandkids ran around on the grass outside which was nice. It was a relatively easy walk out to the beach, you just have to go through the pools and get to the boardwalk. The workers in the facility were very nice as well. It’s a very quiet area which was nice for us, but if you’re looking for restaurants and things to do, you have to go into Gulf Shores. We didn’t care about that so it was good for us. The cons I would say are that there is not enough seating for a condo that sleeps 9 people. The pull out couch needs to be replaced as it’s super uncomfortable. I’ve slept on pull outs before and this one is probably the worst…I’d take a blowup mattress as it would be better for sure. Also, the sliding glass door is very hard to open. It needs some work as many in our group couldn’t open it. Overall it was nice, but could be really nice if some of the things were fixed.

Simple and convenient

We spent a week here, with our whole family, with 7 kids ranging from 13 down to a one year old. The ground floor access was perfect, looking out to the pool/beach. This was our third year visiting the area, and second time to the Plantation Palms complex, so we were familiar with the amenities. The beach is within a few minutes walking distance and there are multiple pools in the complex, including an indoor one for those super hot days. One nice bonus was the washer/dryer in the unit. The top-load washer is missing the center thing, and when I called to report it, they seemed to know about it, and said someone would be out to repair... It still was not repaired when we left. It seemed to still wash ok, and i didn't notice any torn clothing, so I guess it wasn't a problem... Unit had pretty much everything you need for the stay, except for bedding for the sleeper sofa, which we kind of jerry rigged and shared from other beds. There are three smart TVs in the unit. Also they had books to read, but we were too busy keeping tabs on the minions.

big family stay in July

great beach, big lawn for games. pros: full size W/D, good kitchen supplies, good A/C, good patio furniture, good living room furniture. cons: main TV required service call, poor internet connection unless out on the lawn, no sheets for pull out sofa, no fan in bedrooms, poor water pressure in master shower. hints: bring extra dish towels, TP, paper towels, zip locks, etc.

Nice place to stay

The weather was not pleasant during our stay. High tides all four days. BUT we were a 15 min drive to Fort Morgan historical site and the beach there was perfect for the kids to swim! Our room being on ground level was perfect for someone with kids and a lot of beach stuff to carry. We took a wagon! Our room did leak over night from rain but when we contacted management, they sent someone who gave us towels and apologized thoroughly and was super nice. The only thing we weren’t a fan of is this room not having good reception from the wifi. The only room that gets wifi is the front bedroom.. and when it’s raining and kids are bored- I would rather us not all be piled up in a small room lol. But we had fun regardless!

Spring Break 2023

We absolutely love this area and have been coming 2-4 time year Since 2020. Amazing place for all ages of kids with plenty to do. Having a restaurant on site is a huge bonus.

Great condo for a family.

We loved our stay! There was a small musty smell that was mentioned in a previous review. This seemed to be limited to the large closet that the washer and dryer were in though. I’m guessing that if the washer and dryer were pulled out and thoroughly cleaned behind and underneath, it might help. Other than that, the condo was perfect for what we needed. We loved the walk out patio. We didn’t have to worry about stairs and our kids could play out back anytime they wanted. If you plan on using the top bunk and the trundle bed, please keep in mind that you have to take the ladder off the bunk in order to pull out the trundle. Our kids are big enough that this was ok for us. However, if you have little ones, this may be an issue. The outdoor pools do not seem to be heated but the indoor pools were both very nice. Our key card only opened one indoor pool but when we went to the indoor pool that was a bit further from our condo, some other visitors let us in when they saw that our card was not working. The outdoor hot tub closest to our condo was not working which was disappointing but there were other hot tub options on the property. The beach was amazing and we found shells and mermaids purses and saw other wildlife including dolphins. Overall, while our nightly fee was reasonable for what we got, the cleaning fees and other fees made this condo pricey for our family. We would love to go back to this property but would hope the things we mentioned above could be remedied. Also, we’d love the fees to be less but realize this may not be a possibility.

Needs work

In all fairness, we did not contact the owner before we left, but the property needs some improvements. A short list of the issues discovered during our stay. Both bathroom exhaust fans need to be cleaned. Both bathrooms need to cleaned and painted to clear up the black mold. (near exhaust vents). Patio ceiling needs scrapping and painting. The master bathroom needs scrapping and painting above the tub. Lastly, the condo needs to be treated for cockroaches. We spotted three during our stay. E-mail was sent to owner describing all of these issues . Hopefully owners will take that email seriously and fix the issues promptly.

Better Fish in the Sea Than This

Pros: Location cannot be beat! First time staying on the ground floor and it was perfect with little kids. Easy access to indoor and outdoor pools, beach, parking lot, Sassy Bass, everything. Check-in process super easy. Beach chairs (the wooden ones) were available for rent right after walking off the boardwalk. Kiddie pool for the littles (we had a 2 year old with us). Roomy patio, plenty of kitchen necessities for cooking at the condo, cold fridge. Security gated front entrance. We thought the indoor pool access key had not been left so I emailed the property and got a quick response. The key was there, it was overlooked on our part! Cons: The first day we were there, the toilet in the master bedroom became clogged and a call had to be placed to maintenance. They sent a plumber with a plunger who was kind enough to leave the plunger behind (there wasn’t one to begin with or we probably wouldn’t have needed to call). The call was handled in a timely manner. Several outlets don’t seem to work and several batteries are missing from things like remotes or clocks, lightbulbs burned out, etc. Little annoyances that you don’t want to tend to on vacation. This property is in major need of a deep clean. I am not a clean freak, all I need in a condo is a clean and safe place to sleep. However, there were TWO used pregnancy tests in the condo- one in a bedroom, one in a bathroom. Huge balls of dust and hair. Cobwebs and dead roaches around the artificial tree. Candy wrappers and hair ties falling out of the make-out sofa bed. I did not report this until I discovered the second pregnancy test two days before leaving. I still haven’t heard a reply. This was our first time to Fort Morgan, we usually go to Gulf Shores or Florida. I am looking forward to visiting Fort Morgan again- enjoyed the tucked away from the hustle and bustle feeling. But I can’t see us staying in this unit again without improvements with cleanliness and functionality.

Perfect Family Vacation

Our family stayed here for our first visit to Gulf Shores and are so glad we picked this condo. It was perfect for all of us. Such a beautiful place with the perfect location! Thank you for a wonderful family vacation!

BLACK MOLD!!!!

First off, the location of this property is a 10 and the convenience of ground level is amazing! Then there is the BLACK MOLD!! As soon as we walked in the condo we were instantly disappointed with the strong sickening musty smell of mold. Oh it was awful! Not what we were expecting for a vacation that is pronounced to be luxurious. We booked from Saturday to Saturday. Checked in Saturday about 5:30pm contact management about the toxic mold, get told they have no other rooms available. We could either go home and get our money back (by paper check) or to find another place to stay. After driving 15 hours with 3 kids that were ready to be on the beach, we couldn’t just go home! And expecting us to find availability for a 7 night vacation LAST MINUTE in peak of summer. Seriously? We had no choice but to stay in this moldy condo. Checked in Saturday, by Wednesday I wake up feeling so sick! Here it is Tuesday (3 days after departure) and I am still suffering from the mold exposure. My oldest son had to have benedryl and ibuprofen the entire trip because of the mold as well. Let alone he slipped and busted his head on the tile from the “fog solution” they used to get rid of the mold smell. We were told by maintenance the next day that solution definitely should of been cleaned up prior to us coming back. We weren’t allowed in our room for hours on Sunday while they cleaned and deodorized. Our kids didn’t get to even see the beach until the 3rd day because of all this. So disappointing and a waste of time and money! We will not be booking through ABVR again. Do not recommend this condo and truly do not understand how it is even up to health standards. I have pictures of the mold. They will be posted.
