Corymbia Cottage Brokes Secluded Escape for max 4

Escape to nature at Corymbia Cottage, a beautifully hand-built, open-plan guesthouse set on 100 private acres in the exclusive Broke Fordwich wine region of the Hunter Valley. Surrounded by native bushland and birdsong, this secluded retreat is perfect for those craving peace, privacy, and a deeper connection to the land.

Inside, you’ll find warm timber finishes, an upstairs sleeping loft with a queen bed, and a second queen bed downstairs in the cozy bed-sit area — ideal for couples, friends, or a small family. Light the open fireplace, fire up the BBQ, or set off on a bushwalk with river access right from your doorstep.

Please note: To truly switch off, the cottage is intentionally off-grid — there is no TV or Wi-Fi, and mobile reception can be limited due to the rural location. It’s the perfect excuse to unplug and reconnect.

The cottage is surrounded by ancient angophoras and corymbias, offering stunning views through eucalypts over the vineyards. Guests can enjoy bushwalking tracks, birdsong, fresh rainwater showers, and occasional visits from local wildlife.

How We Price: The booking price is based on a minimum number of guests. Any guests above this number are chargeable on a per person/per night rate. The system will automatically calculate the correct rate when you enter the required number of guests. Reductions in guest numbers are non-refundable.

Arrival Details: Access to the property is made simple. You’ll receive an access code via SMS just before 3pm on your arrival day, which you’ll use for the duration of your stay. Standard check-in is at 3pm. While an earlier arrival may be possible, it cannot be confirmed until the afternoon prior to your arrival. If an earlier check-in is available, we will send you an SMS by 4pm the day before to confirm.

Linen: 1 set of full bed linens and 1 bath towel per person are supplied. Guests may wish to bring extra towels depending on the length of their stay. Pool/Lake/Beach towels are BYO.

Guest Amenities: We are Eco-Friendly - to help reduce wastage, we supply a single bottle of 3in1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash in all showers. In addition, guests are advised to bring their own personal preferred bathroom products/amenities.

Fires and Firewood: Internal wood fireplaces and outdoor fire pits only operate after the NSW Easter School Holidays up to before the NSW September School Holidays in line with NSW state fire restrictions. Please note: we will normally supply enough firewood, kindling & fire-starters for between 1-2 nights of your stay. For guests wishing to have additional fires, we suggest BYO Firewood, Kindling, and Starters which can be easily purchased from the local service stations.

No Party Policy: All reservations operate under a Strict No-Party & Non-Excessive Noise Policy as prescribed in the NSW Short-Term Letting Legislation and Local Council Laws. This property is in a Residential Area. Failure to comply can put the security bond into jeopardy and may lead to police-assisted eviction and/or extra charges being levied. We hate to have to note this but the reality is that so far this year we have had to evict 3 groups for overstacking/bad/anti-social behaviour.

Extra Guests / Visitors: The number of people nominated on your booking is the maximum number of people that are allowed to be on the property at any one time, including visitors. Visitors may be requested and if approved must be approved in writing with Weekenda staff. Simply put, if Mum and Dad want to come over for a BBQ then we are likely to approve. If 10 extra people want to stop by we are unlikely to approve, which could put your booking at risk. We will always try to be reasonable with reasonable people within property constraints and House Rules.

Cameras and Noise Monitoring: There are no external security cameras at this location presently but the owner reserves the right at any time to install external cameras at their discretion. Any camera install will be in line with local regulations. A noise monitoring device is installed - fines apply to guests found to have disconnected, removed or damaged the noise device. These devices are used to monitor and maintain ours and guests responsibilities under the NSW STR Code of Conduct.

Guest Registration / ID Check : Weekenda requires every guest to complete and sign an electronic guest registration prior to arrival which will ask for photo ID i.e. a copy of your Drivers Licence or Passport. The primary booker will also be required to complete a list with the guests names and actual mobile numbers. In the event we are unable to reach the primary booker, it is very important we can get a hold of other guests. These documents will be deleted after your departure. Access Codes are only released to Registered and Verified Guests.

Critical Update: Due to an unprecedented influx of fraudulent bookings, we are forced to impose a policy that protects our clients, industry and community against those attempting to commit fraud and theft. Any booking made within 5 days of arrival is required to provide a photo of a valid credit card in the same full name of the primary guest to match the supplied identification document. Failure of these documents matching will result in the booking being cancelled and all funds processed returned to the original card assumed as stolen and thus a fraudulent transaction. We trust we have our honest and genuine customers understanding this policy is in place to protect all parties.

Insurance: As always, but ever so more due to recent times, we strongly encourage any holidaymakers to obtain a very inexpensive 3rd Party Domestic Travel Insurance Policy to cover you for all manners of matters which may restrict travel. This is particularly helpful for things like Hunter Valley Concert cancellations, Covid or Medical and Other Emergencies for which we don't provide refunds and anything which falls under our standard Terms & Conditions irrespective of the reason. We suggest reviewing policies with 'Cover-More' or 'Travel Insurance Direct' or 'Insureandgo'

nice, but over priced

We can appreciate the story behind the property, however find it over priced for initially 1 Saturday night stay. whilst the firewood wasn't far it was difficult to get to once it became dark. Would have been nice to have some firewood at hand. the property itself s tranquil and very pretty

No security (door doesn’t lock?) & dirty

Unfortunately this property wasn’t up to expectations. It had a door that didn’t lock to the outside world, this is very concerning from a rule property in a wine/wedding region particularly knowing previous guests would’ve stayed in the home with the knowledge that this door doesn’t lock. The house was also dirty, I’m talking dirt all over the floors, bathroom wasn’t clean, bins were still full when we arrived and spiderwebs absolutely everywhere (We understand this is a country property and spiderwebs are inevitable but not a single windowsill had ever been web swept in its life it seemed). There is also no phone reception at all, which is fine, however no wifi is offered either which is a strange choice. Unfortunately it made the stay not very enjoyable & wouldn’t ever return.

Sleeping with spiders

While the property was located on a lovely property and has potential, our experience was far from good. There were spider webs and spiders (dead and alive) everywhere throughout the house including around the bed. No window coverings at all so getting our 5 month old baby to sleep during the day was next to impossible. This is not mentioned in the property description. We could only stay for one of the five nights we booked due to these issues. We were very worried about all the spiders and the safety of our baby. Correspondence since leaving the property early has been poor. Currently disputing that the property was not up to a reasonable living standard. We have never been unhappy with any other rental properties before, however our experience needed to be shared.

Hi Matt, we can completely respect your opinion regards the condition of the property. Whilst Corymbia is loved for its rustic approach, serine bushland setting and simplicity, the level of outside 'visitors' seem excessive from the evidence you provided. We have discussed your concerns with the owner & we have since worked to repair/fill the visible gaps around window frames, provide the property with a spring clean to remove the excess cobwebs & also provided a professional pest control spray to the internal areas. This has gone a long way to decrease the volume of outside 'visitors'. I am sorry you weren't afforded this condition for your stay. At the time of your feedback we were unable to find any record of you contacting us on the 3rd or 4th of January to report these concerns. Our office is contactable 24/7 via the main office line as advised in all confirmations and pre-arrival communications. If that had of occurred, we would have immediately arranged our maintenance team to attend and address where feasible. It is disappointing we were not given this opportunity which could of enabled you to enjoy the full duration of your originally intended reservation. We were first notified of your concerns at 5pm on the 5th January 2022. Without an opportunity to rectify issues during a stay, it is difficult to arrange solutions. I respect the conditions were not up to the usual Weekenda standard and had an impact on your comfort thus we provided a refund of 2 nights base accommodation charges being a total of $600 ($300 per night). A final apology for the experience your family had, far removed from our passion of providing quality accommodation. I can assure you we too, have taken from his experience and are addressing the issues to prevent future discomfort.

Great Break From the Grind

Beautiful tranquil setting. A great escape from the daily grind. Close enough to all the Hunter Valley has to offer and far enough to escape and unwind. Totally off the grid so forget about your social media or TV. Lovely property

Magical place

Unique, beautiful, practical and comfortable. It was perfectly located too. Fruit trees, wildlife, seclusion and serenity. One of my favourite stayz ever.

Quiet getaway

Lovely place on a quiet farm. So incredibly peaceful and homely. Especially loved the kitchen and the firepit in the living room.
