Welcome to the Forgotten Coast and to Ocean Mile J9!
Our 300 Ocean Mile Unit J9 is just one unit out of the 100 unit townhome community, comprised of 1 to 3 bedroom units constructed in the early 1980s, all in a half-moon shaped arrangement around the community pool which faces the beach - to be even more exact on location, we're on the East End of the island next to the gorgeous State Park just steps away! This unit may have been built 30 years or more ago, but immediately our travelers notice very spacious and brightly colored living spaces combined with the basic comforts of home to create an overall inviting stay at the beach!
Ocean Mile J9 has two private sun decks, one located on the second level for the Queen Bedroom and the other on the third level for the King Suite to grab those warm, relaxing salt breezes and views of both the Gulf and Bay! Another sun deck is just off of the main living room which is also furnished and provides access to the boardwalk system to give you easy access to the pool and beach! (This pool is not heated). There is a pet/child gate located in the down stairs pantry closet if needed for added safety.
J9 is designed with beach living for small families in mind and is dog- friendly (up to 2 dogs max); the unit is very- well appointed with a fully stocked kitchen, a spacious living area that provides a 65" LCD flat panel display with Roku and Netflix that allow you to bring your account access with you. There is a very nice selection of Academy Award Winning movies - some DVD and some VHS - and may be watched on the players in each bedroom as well. We also have a a small book library to tie everything together. If you want to challenge the mind, a few board games and puzzles can be found under living room TV. The Queen Bedroom shares the full bath in the hall containing a walk - in shower, no tub. Just up the stairs are a full size washer and dryer and just beyond is the King Master with Vaulted Ceiling, a private balcony and the biggest bubble bath tub you can ever imagine!
* Floor covering is ceramic tile in most of the unit with carpeting in the bedrooms. *We have grilling supplies located in the pantry closet but only grills at the common grounds area at the pool can be used. *Sorry, HOAA restrictions prohibit having golf carts on site.
We are adjacent to the state park which offers access to boat launch, kayaking in calm waters, fishing and unspoiled beaches.
Nearby Apalachicola will entice you with fine dining, boutiques, galleries, antiques, a dog park, and beautiful parks . Be sure to visit the farmers market in Apalachicola. Farm fresh vegetables, jams, breads, fresh off the boat seafood, and local artisan crafts.
Bring your fishing gear for world class surf casting or book a charter with one of the excellent local guides.
Note: Ocean Mile Supports The Leave No Trace Ordinance. All Beach Gear Must Be Removed From The Beach By 9pm During Turtle Nesting Season. (May 1st Through Oct 31st)
NOTE: Technology is ever-changing and paving the way for EV's (Electric Vehicles). If you plan on bringing an EV, please be aware that there are no charging stations on the island and our unit is not equipped with an EV charger. Please ask manager for information on where and how to charge your EV.

Perfect place for a laid back family looking for easy beach and pool access. The beds are comfy, the showers are perfect, and the home has all the basic necessities. It was a great place for us to stay.

We had good time. We always come during December and love how quiet the area is during this time of year. The host was great to accommodate our requests. Also being close to the State Park was a bonus for us. We had never stayed at Ocean Mile and the community was very nice and super close to the beach with a nice beach view. The grill area was also clean and very convenient. We would definitely consider staying here again.

This place was SO much bigger than the pictures show! We were thrilled to see that upon check in. It’s like walking into a 90s Florida condo in the best way. The view was GREAT and the new decks were fantastic. The pool and beach were so close!! The only negatives were that there was dog hair on most surfaces but especially the couch. I knew it was a dog friendly unit but I didn’t think the couches would be covered in dog hair and random brown smudges. That part was a little gross. The main sliding door doesn’t lock - only has a bar to secure it. All that said, we had a fantastic stay in a cozy, beautiful condo that felt nostalgic and met all of our needs. I would highly encourage others to stay here. Just suggest asking cleaners to clean the sofas. Thank you for a great stay!

The beach is beautiful; the property is really nice, easy access to a nice built in pool and the beach. The condo was comfortable and everything worked with out any problems. Our dog taught herself how to catch crabs, she literally did not want to come home. We had a great time. Plenty of places to eat and get coffee.

The unit was not ready when we arrived even after the appointed arrival time. The unit was dirty, needed repairs/painting, outdated, furniture smelled, popcorn ceilings falling off, bath linens were dingy & needed to be replaced. On Monday, a construction crew started tearing up fencing around pool area and the wooden paths. All we heard was a chainsaw & other equipment. We were unable to use the pool. The host should have been transparent about this. We moved out on Monday after finding another property more suitable to our liking. Fortunately we were refunded our unused nights & cleaning fee. I find it hard to believe they didn’t know the construction was to be taking place as stated by the onsite property manager. The photos of the property were misleading. We will never stay at this property again.

Barbara thank you for your feedback. We apologize that things did not fit your needs. Our last 5 reviews have been 10/10 so it was quite alarming to us that after 3 days the unit is “dirty” and not as advertised. These units are not new units they are nearing 50 years old. They are not perfect but they are affordable for families to be able to come enjoy the beach. That being said, As we discussed via text and through the listing thread, the cleaning issue as far as the unit not being ready was my fault as the manager. I refunded your cleaning fee and until day number 3 of your stay, nothing else was problematic until construction began or repair work on the boardwalks in the common grounds areas which is beyond Individual owners and managers control. We regret that we did not know their schedule of what areas they would work on during your stay. As far as the concerns you made regarding the cosmetics of the unit, as I stated, we are in the middle of high season with bookings solid until the Fall. The decks have just been replaced and our contractor did not have enough time to begin work on the Interior but have future plans to upgrade after the Fall. Beach Blessings to you and yours!

This condo was a great fit for our family of 4- we love St. George, especially this area near the state park, and we enjoyed our stay. The property manager was extremely responsive and easy to work with.

Good location, right on the beach. 300 OceanMile units are dated but fine. Functional kitchen with well-stocked appliances and dishware (although I never could find a wine corkscrew!).Cleanliness of Queen size bathroom was subpar (leftover hair) and hair dryer didn't work.Lovely to have such a nice place to stay that is dog friendly. Other vacationers in the units said the same thing.We will return - Thanks!

We discovered St. George Island in the mid 90's and immediately loved the dog friendly, clean white beaches and the old Florida lifestyle.
We had the opportunity to purchase J9 in 2008, and have not looked back. We purchased another unit in Ocean Mile and moved here permanently in December 2015.

We love the community feeling, and have met good friends over the years, both as renters and owners. These friendships remain years later. We love the non commercial, family atmosphere of the island, and living in the "simpler times".

Ocean Mile is a 99 home community with 2 pools, and well manicured grounds. It offers direct access to the Gulf of Mexico with its abundant fish and wildlife. Excellent fishing and the opportunity to experience Mother Nature at her best.
