"The Sandy Bucket" is a perfect oasis for your family or for two families. The Sandy Bucket in our house refers not only to the sand toy but also to our sandy "bottoms"! Our kiddos call their bottom their "bucket" so the name has a double meaning to us! We are pet-friendly, less than 100 yds to the beach with private beach access path, panoramic ocean views, and no road to cross when walking to the beach. Our home has been completely renovated. Brand new kitchen appliances, countertops, large single basin 10" deep stainless steel sink with tall pull out faucet, new washer/dryer, all new bathrooms (tile, vanities, tubs, toilets, etc), new luxury vinyl tile flooring throughout the house, new paint & furniture (new mattresses, couch, chairs, etc). Also, a brand new HVAC system and tankless hot water heater so you will never run out of hot water!! A new 19 foot deep deck completes the renovations. The house is 1.5 miles to the State Park entrance and 2.5 miles to the lighthouse, grocery store, and restaurants so it's in the perfect location to bike or run in either direction on the bike path that runs along the entire island! The lots on the East End are each 1 acre so there is more privacy and the beaches are quieter, which we love!

There are 3 bedrooms. The Master Bedroom has its own private bath, smart Tv, ceiling fan and french doors onto the deck. The second king bedroom has a smart TV and french doors onto the deck as well. The bunk room has one twin over twin bunk bed and one twin over full bed. A Roll-away cot is also in closet so the bunk room can sleep 6 kids. The dining table seats up to 8 people with the table leaf. There are three bar-stools at the kitchen counter for additional seating. The living room has a very large comfy sectional along with two cushioned chairs. Large flat screen Smart TV, books and games. No regular cable at the house; you’ll have to log into your own Netflix, YouTube TV, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc to watch TV and movies.

There is an hot and cold water outdoor shower under the house with both a shower head and hose to wash toys and dogs off. Parking for several cars under the house as well. Free wifi. We have one security camera on the driveway and stairs for security reasons. When you arrive, you will be supplied with a starter kit (soap, toilet paper, etc).

There was one tee towel in kitchen, two pot holders, No spices other than salt or pepper. House said it fit 10. It felt crowded with my family of 6. We are used to renting the big houses on bay though. It was a great walk to beach. Gorrie does not go through this area so the street is sand. It's safe for kids to cross. The house is directly across the street from beach. We had some AC issues but April had it fixed within the hour. It got hot and I couldn't turn it off. Her hubby had to from an app. Everything is done by app now lol. We had fun it's a cute house, nice easy walk to beach. There is a regular coffee pot, and a kurig.

Sandy Bucket - a dream stay

We loved the house, view of the gulf and proximity to the beach. Loved riding bikes on the trail. St George us a lovely beach community.

Great place to enjoy SGI

This house has everything we were looking for: awesome view, comfort, enough space for our group of 6, peaceful surroundings and more. We really enjoyed sitting out on the large deck and the very short walk to the beach. Would definitely stay again.

Beach Vacation

Beautiful beach vacation. The house was almost waterfront and a very easy walk to the beach. Clean and comfortable. The balcony was great for morning coffee and gated to keep the dog in. The beach was amazing.

Location was good. Although it wasn’t beachfront but nice views from the porch, no street to cross and a good walking path to the beach. You could tell the owners have remodeled and put some cute decor in it. However, we did have a few roaches, the dishes were dirty and there was a water leak under French doors on second bedroom.

Location makes it worth it

This was our first time at SGI and we couldn’t have felt happier about the location of this house. We have 6 young kids so having a quick path to the beach was very important to us. The path was short and easy and beach so close! The deck of the house was my absolute favorite. We could watch the ocean right in front of us. The house itself could use some updates, but felt mostly clean and comfortable. A few “complaints”: The toilets didn’t flush well. There wasn’t any cabinet space for food storage. They had a shelf but it didn’t provide a ton of space. Also, most rentals we stay in have a few leftover kitchen items like seasonings, etc. There was nothing. Not a huge deal - but do keep this in mind when packing/shopping. Overall we would stay in this house again for the location alone, but do think some updates could improve the place.

Nice beach weekend

AC worked great, beds were very comfortable, close walk to beach, quiet area, kitchen equipment looked and worked well, screened porch is a bonus, and tables and chairs on deck were very comfortable.

Relaxing

Never been to SGI before. The area is perfect for getting away. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. Sugar fine sand, not a lot of people, relatively flat and dog friendly. House location is on the eastern side of the island. The house is a bit older construction, yet charming. Large master bedrooms with really comfy beds. Didn’t use the bunk beds. Huge porch, great for tanning, hanging out or watching the stars at night - there’s very little light pollution. The house has all that you would need for a beach house. Be sure to bring your beach gear, though. After walking on the beach in the mornings, we enjoyed spending our days under the covered porch making sure the waves kept rolling in or tanning on the deck. The beach is less than 100 yards from the house. House came with starter toiletries and kitchen supplies. Had to purchase liquid laundry detergent, as I didn’t know pods were hard on the septic tank. Plenty of dishes, cups, utensils and cookware. We bought our grouper and snapper at Island View. The drive to Piggly Wiggly in Apalachicola is worth the drive to get food supplies - plus seems like an interesting place to explore. There is a Piggly Wiggly Express as you cross the bridge in SGI, which has a surprising array of a lot of stuff. Stopped at Dollar General and Family Dollar for quick supplies - mainland. Definitely a slower pace than Gulf Shores, PCB or Destin. Sugar Kingdom, SGI Trading and Beach Planet were worth the stop to get souvenirs. Would come back.

This is a place for animal lovers who want the beach experience

The place is a great location to the beach and easy to find on the island… close to everything! Small place with lots of room… 3 bedrooms, and plenty of beds for many! We just had a bad experience upon arrival but the owner was prompt to communicate and actively daily to help with what she could… I had never experienced this in all my vacation rentals… but we live and learned … we will always look to see NO Pets allowed next time considering a rental… but April was easy to communicate with and helpful… as I know the arrival of the place wasn’t her fault… as she only oversees managing the property and didn’t cause the problem! We did enjoy our time at the beach with wonderful family fellowship and even traveled Indian Pass Raw Bar , a short trip of 38 minutes away from the island for some amazing seafood, my husband fished, and we ate our share of ice cream!

Great Island Getaway!

For the price per night this is a great property. The house is roomy and perfect for two couples or one family. Short walk and you are on the beach. The owners are really nice, too and their communication from booking to check out is really helpful. Happy Beaching(:

Family Vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at Sandy Bucket! Communication with property owners was great! It was a perfect distance to the beach, easy walk. We loved the outdoor shower as it was the best! We all had enough space. The open floor plan was nice for our large group.

We are a family of five that love St. George Island! We started going to this area over 10 yrs ago and settled on St George 6 years ago. We love how quiet, laid back and dog-friendly the island is! Our Golden Retriever loves the beach as much as we do! We have made lots of great memories so far here, whether it's looking for shells at the State Park, playing in the ocean, taking bike rides to get ice cream or eating oysters! We all love oysters!

This property sits back from the beach just enough to get those panoramic views of the ocean!! The house is 1.5 miles to the State Park entrance, and 2.5 miles to the lighthouse so the perfect distance to bike or run either direction. The East End is much quieter and each of the property lots are 1 acre so the houses aren't on top of each other. We have private beach access for our house and a screened porch for those times of year when it's very hot but you want to sit outside.
