Welcome to our beautiful, historic Old East Durham bungalow - perfect for families, small groups, or a romantic getaway! This charming retreat is 3 mins from DT and all the yummy eateries & excitement Durham is known for. Built in 1910, the bungalow still maintains much of its historic charm, though it is newly renovated and stylishly furnished for the utmost comfort and enjoyment during your stay. This home boasts a large deck, a private fenced yard, a fire pit, & a covered grill area. Sleeps 7

The property has a $50 pet fee per night per pet with a maximum of $500 per pet.

Please be advised that we will require a security deposit for any guests who have no reviews or are new to the platform.

Please share a copy of all of the rules of the house with all of the guests in the house.

***ONLY GUEST 21 years or over may book this home***

1) The guest who books the house is responsible for the behavior of all of the guests in the house.

2) We expect you to be responsible and treat the house well. We are in a residential area. People live all around us, and we respect their right to peace and privacy. Quiet Hours are mandated by Durham law between 10pm and 7am. You must not be on the outside spaces making noise during these times. Durham takes its Noise Ordinance very seriously, and if a police car drives by and hears noise, you may be cited and face sizable fines. If police are called because of disturbances in the house or noise levels, you will be immediately evicted with no refunds.

3) Access to the house is through the front door. There is private parking in the back through the gate at the end of the driveway. If parking in the backyard, please park on the gravel pad and not on grass. We share the driveway with the neighbor so DO NOT park on driveway whatsoever.

4) Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property, this includes the back deck, the front porch, any grassy areas, or the covered grille area. If there is evidence of smoking on the property (such as cigarette butts) or a smoke smell from cigarettes, cigars, or vaping devices in the house when the cleaning crew comes, you will be charged a fine of $500. THIS IS NOT AN ADDITIONAL FEE to remediate the smoke smell, THIS IS A FINE for breaking the NO SMOKING rule. Smoking on any part of the property is NOT permitted. We WILL NEVER MAKE AN EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE.

5) No illegal substances or criminal activity allowed on the property. Illegal activity will be grounds for eviction and/or arrest with no refunds.

6) The guest responsible for the booking shall be responsible for everyone entering the home. Any damage caused; either by registered party or any visiting guest(s) of theirs will be charged to the guest responsible for the booking.

7) Please lock the doors whenever you leave and close the windows. To lock the keyless locks, press your full palm against the digital lock screen after you close the door. If it rains and the windows have been left open, you will be responsible for any damage to the house or its furnishings.

8) Please treat our home respectfully and leave the house in the same condition that you found it in.

9) Clean up before you leave: all bottles, take out, food, cans, boxes and anything else you brought into the house must be disposed of in the trash bins at the back of the house to the left of the driveway. There are lots of trash/garbage bags in the pantry and under the kitchen sink for you to use. Spill something???... Please clean it up. Paper towels, vacuum, broom and cleaning agents are made available for your use. Please especially clean up spilled drinks before the stickiness gets tracked everywhere. There are old towels on top of the washer in the laundry room if you need to clean up any spills. Please feel free to dispose of the old towels after you have used them. Do not attempt to clean up liquid with any vacuum cleaner. (This is a new rule based on recent guest behavior.)

10) Please place dishes in the dishwasher before you leave please.

11) Please don't move the furniture from room to room. Please especially don't move the indoor furniture outside.

12) Do not lean, sit, or stand on the kitchen island. It is a custom piece and extremely expensive. If damaged, guest will have to replace it at a cost of $10,000 to $12,000.

13) Do not take mattresses off of the beds.

14) Disabling or moving any devices such as the NoiseAware device, Alexa, or any cameras on the premise without express consent from the host will result in immediate eviction with no refund. If the device(s) stop working, we will come by to remedy the situation and get them back online. If they have been deliberately disabled or moved, the group will be evicted with no refunds.

15) The fireplace inside the home is NON-FUNCTIONING. Please do not attempt to light it. Again, don't put anything in the fireplaces. Don't cook in the fireplace or make s'mores in the fireplace.

16) Don't use the body towels/ hand towels and/or washcloths to clean anything but your body. Especially the floor. If you need to clean a spill, use paper towels. A large spill? There are old towels in the laundry room to be used for cleaning.

17) If you break something, please let us know.

18) Don't take anything off the walls.

19) No glitter, no glitter, no glitter. Please, no glitter. Confetti is allowed if it's made of paper.

20) Excessive cleaning will result in an additional cleaning fee of $300.

21) If spills are on the furniture and/or rugs and cannot be removed, the booking guest will be charged with replacing the item.

22) The booking guest will be charged for any damages to the house, even if done by another guest.

23) Pets are allowed for an additional pet fee of $150. The presence of unauthorized or unapproved pets (attempting to "sneak" pets in) will incur a $739 penalty fee plus any damage caused by the pet.

24) Only guest staying 3 or more nights will have access to the washer and dryer.

25) Guest have access to the slot machine and arcade machine on the premise however should any of these machines be damaged by any member of the visiting party or their visitors, guest responsible for the booking will be charged with the cost to replace said device.

26) Cameras are located on the premise to protect guest and property owner. These cameras are only set in the common spaces of the home. They will be disable once guests check in. These devices should not be tampered with.

Spacious, clean
Location was great for us as we have family within walking distance. Clean and modern. 4 dogs in backyard next door that can be a little noisy during the night.

This house is really cute and felt like home. It’s a lot more spacious than the photos depict. All modern amenities & appliances. The beds were comfortable as were the robes. Wish we would’ve bbq’d & utilized the backyard. Check in & out were a breeze. Close proximity to NCCU. Mark was prompt to answer any questions we had. Would definitely stay again.

We are Mark and Niles and we live not too far away from this brand new Short Term Rental. Both of us have worked in the hospitality industry for part of our lives. We are available 24/7 and will assist you as much or as little as you desire. We have lived in the Triangle area since 1998 and can help you make the most of your visit or we can just leave you to relax and explore on your own. Niles is from Georgia by birth but grew up in Nigeria while I was born in Nigeria but grew up here in America. We met at a wedding reception in Charlotte, North Carolina, got married, and had four lovely children! Oh, we recently just got a rescue pet; an American Bulldog named Stella. She is the sweetest thing.

We've always loved the East Durham area. It is rich with history yet still keeps that community feel...and being just 3 mins from downtown Durham and all it has to offer, who could beat that?

Quais são os elementos especiais deste alojamento?

This home was built in 1910 and we just love the detailing found inside from the arched entryway to the high ceilings. We tried to keep as much of the old when we renovated this beauty. FYI, the shutters were made from the original wood siding that came off the house.
