The cottage is accessed via few steps up from Back Road West and you walk straight into the living room with its inviting cosiness and fresh interior. There is a l-shaped sofa for snuggling on and a dining table that can fold into a smaller size if you need to make more space during the day. There is a small but practical kitchen that has everything you need to cater for a family holiday.

There are 2 bedrooms; a double bedroom on the ground floor with its own ensuite and a twin bedroom which can be joined to make a super king size bed (in width only) on the first floor. There is a family bathroom on the first floor also. Please note the ground floor double bed is cosily positioned to two walls of the bedroom and so it's easier to climb over the bed to be the one closest to the window.

Being in the Downalong area of St Ives, you will be within minutes of the great white sand beaches, the organised boat trips, the amazing food places and a great choice of shops and galleries to visit too. Leave the front door of 45 Back Road West and you step into the joyful life of St Ives so ideal for friends and families who like to have everything on their doorstep.

The private parking space for 45 Back Road West is at St Ives Rugby Club with a very generous sized parking space. Parking in St Ives can be a real headache during busier weeks in the town, namely between Easter and October, with available spaces in the town car parks being very rare during these times. So, even though the parking space for the cottage is a 15 minute walk away, it is a guaranteed space where you can come and go freely plus, during the busy periods, there is a shuttle bus which costs £1.50 per trip that picks up and drops off very close to Porthmeor Beach which is a 5 minute walk from the cottage.

There is free WiFi throughout the house

2 x small (up to 12kgs) well-behaved dogs are welcome. A pet fee applies of £50 per pet per week which we collect from guests once the property is booked (terms and conditions apply). Please let us know the age, sex and breed when booking.

All bed linen, bath towels and utilities are included in the rate.

Three weeks in the heart of St. Ives

We stopped in St. Ives in 2023 and decided we needed to return and stay long enough to get a real taste for the town and its people. We wanted to be in the "Downalong" area, because of its proximity to the harbour. Orange Roofs' 45 Back Road West popped up in a search and it turned out to be perfect for the two of us, having a king bed room upstairs with bathroom, and a queen bed room downstairs with its own bathroom. It was also perfect for the overnight visits of another couple, and of a niece. Once a fisherman's home, it is built of stone and is part of a four-door row that appears on an 1887 map, but could be much older. As such, it is compact and charming. The kitchen is galley style with modern equipment and it served us well for meals we chose to have at home. The living area is comfortable and cosy with a table and chairs for dining, a couch and a smart TV. The internet is fast and reliable. Using the Orange Roofs app ensured we could make calls. The two or three times we contacted Orange Roofs with questions, we got prompt, courteous and helpful responses. They are easy to deal with. Perhaps the best thing about #45, is its location. A short walk to Porthmeor beach and a shorter walk to the harbour, it is the perfect base. We were in walking range of all the shops, pubs and restaurants (there is even a convenience store within a minute's walk). We loved St. Ives and hope to return. We would also return to #45.

Lovely week in St Ives

The property is ideal with all the facilities we needed and in the perfect location. A short walk to the harbour and all the restaurants and facilities of St Ives.

Lovely cottage in just about a perfect location

45 Back Road West places you right in the heart of Downalong, the area beloved by so many of the St Ives’ artist community. There are four galleries, two cracking restaurants and an amazing convenience store all within 30 seconds of the cottage. It is also very conveniently located for easy walks to Porthmeor beach, home of the Tate Gallery, the harbour and the town with a rich variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. The cottage is lovely. It is well designed and fully equipped for everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The rooms are cosy and warm with comfortable sofas and beds. There are two bathrooms which is a real bonus. The upstairs bathroom has a luxurious bath when so many similar cottages have only showers. Communication with Orange Roofs was excellent throughout the whole process and their app does exactly what is required. We received the key code whilst getting supplies at the local Tesco supermarket. Using the wifi was very simple and effective.
