It was a nice & quiet area to stay in next to the beach. The host was thorough with communication. It was easy to get to Norfolk and VA Beach. Although it’s a bit outdated, we enjoyed the short walk to the beach and the area. We’d stay there again.

Life on a Sandbar was everything listed and more! Jimmy was wonderful to communicate with and fabulous host. Sitting on the porch enjoying the breeze and watching the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds was so relaxing. We walked to Willoughby Fishhouse to eat one evening and that was delicious. Husband and I did 3 miles every morning around the neighborhood and always a nice walk. There was absolutely nothing I could see anyone complaining about and would highly recommend!!

Great location to relax and enjoy before the next leg of our trip

My family and I really enjoyed our time at Life on a Sandbar, it's a very cute house and plenty spacious for the 4 of us. My kids really enjoyed the easy beach access and we had fun at night looking for shark teeth and making friends with some nice locals. Jimmy was very responsive and gave great recommendations for local spots as far as food and things to do. We hope to be back one day and stay for even longer!

Perfect location very clean

The house was immaculate! It is better than the pictures which never happens. Well stocked kitchen with all the essentials. Any easy walk to the beach. We appreciated the beach chairs so we didn’t have to bring our own. Would definitely visit again.

Wonderful Stay

“Life on a Sandbar” was perfect! It was exactly the getaway we needed. It was home for our 11 day stay. The beach, sunsets, sunrises and ship watching were wonderful! Location to all sites was perfect! Grocery store and fresh seafood easily accessible! We had all the amenities we needed and Jimmy was a great host! We look forward to our next visit! Paradise by the water, off the beaten path

We had a fantastic stay at Life on a Sandbar! The location is unbeatable—just steps away from the beach, with amazing views. The whole stay was both convenient and relaxing. The home was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully stocked with all the amenities we needed for a stress-free stay.The WiFi was excellent and was especially appreciated since we had to work remotely during our visit. Communication with the property owner was smooth and prompt—any questions we had were quickly answered, making us feel well taken care of throughout our stay.Overall, this was the perfect mix of comfort, convenience, and coastal charm. Quick access to I-64 as well as to surface streets to both Old Dominion University and Norfolk made this location perfect for our 5-day stay! If we plan another trip to Norfolk, this property will at the top of our list!

Awesome experience!

This was the second trip since the beginning of the year to visit with our Marine. Just a great house on the beach. Close to restaurants and grocery store. Would absolutely stay again!

Perfect little getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is fully equipped with everything you would need. Jimmy, the owner, was responsive and accommodating, allowing us to check in early and depart late. Although our trip was brief, we plan to return and spend more time there. Oooo, and the beach is seriously just steps away!!

Great stay

We enjoyed the house and view of bay. Limited traffic on dead end street was nice, as well as the direct access to the beach. Minimal stairs was a blessing.

Quick stay in Norfolk

I had a quick work trip to Norfolk and stayed at Life on a Sandbar. The host, Jimmy, was great to work with. Very quiet area. The best part was watching ships come into and out of the Bay right from the front window. Highly recommend!

Total relaxation

We had a great time, the house was comfortable and cozy. The beach just steps away. Plenty of activities near by. Jimmy Black is an amazing host, he answered all our questions in minutes, and was so helpful. If visiting the Norfolk area this house is a must! Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Lovely Space

We did a quick weekend trip here to celebrate an anniversary. Communication was superb! Property is an amazing location. Quick to find after getting off the highway. Beach was quiet with just a few other people. The back deck is definitely a highlight. Comfortable chairs and a nice view- spent hours there reading. Or relaxing in the hammock! House is well equipped- soft towels, kitchen had all the gadgets, and television/internet! It was a perfect quiet getaway- would love to come back!
