A hideaway by the sea, Casa da Rocha de Baixo
Located in a secluded area, a few meters away from the beach, this single-story wooden house is perfectly restored. Ideal for those seeking total rest as a family or as a couple. All the surroundings of the house are paradisiacal, being therefore the perfect choice to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, just listen to the sea and see stars at night.
This house stands out for its "open space" characteristics, for privileging the natural light inside, for its "clean" and minimalist decoration. With 2 bedrooms (1 double bed and 2 single beds) and 1 bathroom with shower, this house has capacity for a maximum of 4 people. Outside, there is a very pleasant leisure area, a portable barbecue, and a dining area. Set between the green of the mountain and the blue of the sea, this property has a sweeping view of the Atlantic Ocean that conveys a sense of calm and peace.
There is no cell phone network, only internet.
The house has parking outside the property.

The house is located on the north coast of Madeira Island, in SĂŁo Jorge, a parish in the municipality of Santana. Being located in a secluded area by the sea, it is a 14-minute drive from the center of SĂŁo Jorge (where you can find a mini-market) and a 16-minute drive from the center of Arco de SĂŁo Jorge, a neighboring parish where you can visit the Wine and Vine Museum.
The closest bar to the house is a 10-minute drive away. The historical center of Santana is a 24-minute drive away. There you can find a supermarket, several bars and restaurants. Take the opportunity to visit the Typical Houses of Santana, the Rocha do Navio Cable Car, and the Madeira Theme Park.
Contemplate the views over the northern coast of the island by visiting the belvederes closest to the house. In SĂŁo Jorge you will find sights like the Vigia viewpoint, the SĂŁo Jorge Ruins, and the Ponta de SĂŁo Jorge. In the next parish, near the center of Arco de SĂŁo Jorge you will find the Arco de SĂŁo Jorge viewpoint and the Cabo AĂ©reo viewpoint. Both are about 25 minutes by car from Casa da Rocha. Closer you will find the Cabanas viewpoint, a 14-minute drive away.
To reach the beginning of the trail closest to the house, Levada do Rei, you will drive 4.6 km for about 12 minutes.
The city of Funchal is about 1 hour away by car.
Getting around
The best option to get to the house will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport.
If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address.
Access requires good driving skills and a vehicle with the power to climb.

- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket on the property.
- Cleaning during the stay is carried out weekly, as well as changing clothes, towels and consumables. If you want extra cleaning, the service will be charged separately at an affordable price. For stays of less than seven nights, weekly cleaning or changing clothes and replacing consumables will not be carried out.
