Pico House Àr ett typiskt hus med halmtak omgiven av 3000 meter odlad mark och frukttrÀd. Santana kommer i vÀgen för att brÀnna (Forest Park) 5 minuter frÄn Laurel skog och tagit och vÀgar.
Den typiska omrÄdet Àr mycket lugn och vÀnlig alltid redo att hjÀlpa.
Den lokala stormarknaden Àr mycket vÀl levereras och Àr en 5 minuters promenad bort. Centrum av den lilla staden (Stadshuset, apotek, postkontor, polis, hÀlsocenter, affÀrer, kaféer, barer och restauranger) ligger 10 minuters promenad bort.
Mycket enkel Ätkomst till olika vÀgar som vidtagits och (guider och kartor i huset).
De stenstrÀnder (smÄ och knubbig stenar) nÀrmare Àr en 10-minuters bilresa, Faial och São Jorge, den senare med en pool.
Pico House byggdes 1966 som sommarstuga. Dess halmtak, hÄlls med traditionella metoder, den betydligt större och Àven bÀttre rustade Àn lokala hus, mestadels rehabiliteras med plattor i stÀllet för halm, gör det nÀstan unik.
SÄ det Àr en upplevelse utom mycket trevlig, ganska nyfiken och ovanlig att spendera nÄgra dagar semester i detta hus.
Perfekt för naturÀlskare som vill koppla av och utforska vÄra naturliga skönheter.
Huset har 4 sovrum som Àr 3 singlar och 1 dubbelsÀng, ett badrum med badkar, ett fullt utrustat kök (det finns inga tvÀttmaskiner och diskmaskin) ett gemensamt rum och matsal. PÄ första vÄningen finns det dubbla sovrummet och tvÄ singlar. Det finns tvÄ Ätkomsttrappor till övervÄningen, en inuti och en utvÀndig.
Huset pÄ vintern kan vara kallt och eftersom det inte har nÄgon centralvÀrme finns det flera vÀrmare och vÀrme för sÀngar av sÀngarna.

Lovely house and garden

We, a family of four plus a grandmother, stayed at the house 8 nights in the end of February and had a lovely stay. Both the house and the garden are beautiful and located in a stunning setting with mountains in the background.The house is well equipped with everything you need. The kitchen has a lot of utensils, spices, pots etc so cooking is a good option if you prefer. We felt it was a bit cold inside at times so a pro tip is to bring slippers or socks to wear. There are heating mattresses in all beds and a couple of radiators placed around the house. The garden has a lot of citrus trees, bananas, flowers etc and is well taken care of. There are tables, chairs and sunbeds so you can enjoy the outdoors when the weather is nice.The house is located a 10-15 minute walk from central Santana with restaurants, pharmacy and some shops. A big supermarket can be found 5-10 minutes walk away.We really enjoyed our stay and we feel it was a good spot for exploring the island, especially the north side. A rental car is a highly recommended if you stay in this house! need for a nice stay.

Great stay

Fantastic authentic house on a good location. Close to supermarket and hiking spots. Rita is a superb host. The house is large with a nice garden. Perfect place to explore the north eastern part of Madeira!!

Charming and relaxing

If you want a quiet country hillside setting stay this is the place. The home is an older country home with thatched roof. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Was nice in the morning to have breakfast outside. Very close to Santana square (less then 5 min drive). Rita, bless her heart, was patient in helping me find the place. Also patient with helping me fix a blown fuse. Her gardener and his wife are close by and friendly and helpful. Overall I had a wonderful stay.

Das schöne Landhaus

Rita hat uns persönlich begrĂŒĂŸt und sie hatte sogar Obst und Brot gekauft. Der Garten ist schöner als im Internet zu sehen. Wer gern ein rusticales Ambiente mag, ist hier genau richtig. Sehr angenehm waren die beheizten Betten. Schön wĂ€re noch ein Shuttleservice zum Flugplatz. Rena und Hubert

A unique and very special housing

We loved this house with its wonderful garden. It is unique. If you are tired of hotel rooms without atmosphere - this is the right accommodation for you. Not everything is perfect, but some things are unforgettable great. We loved to have our morning coffee in bed with open door and windows and listen to the awakening nature - the birds and the goat. Rita - the owner - is very friendly and helpful. She surprised us with some local food and drinks when we arrived. We felt very welcome ! We liked walking the levadas. The most beautiful is just 10 Minutes away ! So everything was perfect for us and we had a great time.

Our first visit to Madeira.

As this was our first visit to Maderia we had no idea where we were staying. The house was within an easy 30 min drive from Funchal Airport on a superb road. The house itself from outside was like something out of a child's fairytale. Thatched roof, old oak doors and white painted external walls. Inside on the ground floor there was a spacious living room with plenty of chairs, cupboards, television and heaters which is as well as they were needed nearly every evening. The kitchen had a modern cooker and fridge freezer and new electric kettle and coffee making machine. There were lots of pots, pans, cooking utensils and glasses. A first class kitchen. The bathroom/WC were also on the ground floor and were adequate. The water pressure was very low and it was a bit of an art taking a shower. There was also a small bedroom on the ground floor with a beautiful, if fairly small, four poster bed. Upstairs was reached by a narrow and steep wooden staircase. There were three lovely bedrooms one of which had a veranda and access to outside. The house was spacious and really lovely. The only complaint besides the water pressure was that it was rather dark at night even with all the lights on. There was facilities for sitting outside at the front and in the garden at the side of the house. The problem was that the sun, when it did shine, soon disappeared from the front and the side garden grass was left very long and was often wet. The worst thing about the house was the drive and entry on to the road. The drive was extremely narrow and fairly steep and the exit through the narrow gates onto the road was blind. You had to listen and hope nothing was coming up or down. I think a mirror opposite the entrance is a must! The house is set in wonderful quiet countryside, when you can see it through the low cloud. There are beaches (well what goes for beaches in Madeira), swimming pools, village bars, restaurants, wonderful walks and many other places to see within a few minutes drive. The road to the top of a 3,000ft plus mountain passes the bottom of the garden. The one thing that spoilt our holiday was that it was too cool to sit out in the garden in the evening and we had to go indoors and put the heaters on around 7-00pm. I loved Madeira and where we stayed, my wife was not so keen.
