Bakkakot lodge enjoys beautiful scenic view over the river Sog, Icelands biggest fresh water river. Our large veranda with hot tub and outdoor kitchen overlooks the river. The Lodge is on the Golden circle route close to the main attractions, Thingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss and Skalholt. In the neighbourhood you find horse riding trails, golf courses and hiking trails.
Selfoss town with good supermarkets, shops, cafés and restaurants is a 15 min drive from the house.
The river Sog runs from Thingvallavatn lake, Icelands biggest lake.

The Lodge was renovated in 2022.

Open space living room, dining and kitchen area. Smart TV with Netflix, wifi and Sonos sound system.

Three double bedrooms, all with 140x200 cm double beds.

Parking in private circular driveway in front of the lodge.

Geothermal water heating keeps you warm in coldest weather.

The kitchen is fully equipped with induction stove, oven, fridge, freezer, Smeg espresso machine, Nespresso and french press. Toaster, kettle and microwave oven. Utensils, glasses and tableware.

Bathroom with shower and a washer/dryer.

Linen and towels are provided.

Hot tub with geothermal water, outdoor shower and veranda with furniture.
In the winter you can enjoy the northern lights from the hot tub and veranda.

Outdoor kitchen with gas bbq grill.

The house is very private and peaceful in a grown private land on the riverbank.

Cozy and Beautiful Home

A perfect stay in the golden circle. It was so cozy to come back to this beautiful cottage after a full day of exploring Iceland. Whether sitting on the deck to take in the amazing view or spend the night in the hot tub looking at the Northern Lights, this location and cottage has it all!

Cozy and amazing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Selfoss and loved our stay at Bakkarot Lodge! Bjorn was an excellent host who was responsive and super efficient. The views were amazing and this little cottage had everything we needed!

Excellent property, host, and stay.

Bjorn's place is exactly as described. Very clean, beyond well-equipped kitchen, hot tub with a view over the lake - what more could you ask for? How about a great location for visiting some of Iceland's most famous sites, and excellent communication from the host. Definitely recommend.

Great house in a perfect, peaceful, beautiful and remote location. Very clean, warm and comfortable house, and the communication was very clear and helpful from Bjorn.

Golden Circle perfection

Spotless, comfortable beds, newer appliances with clear operating instructions, and a convenient location for exploring the area. Cozy inside despite high winds and cold temps. Could not have asked for more.

River Sog

We had a wonderful time at this well designed and fully equipped home on the lovely river Sog. The hot tub on the deck was delightful and the kitchen had high quality items for food preparation. The host responded readily to any questions and was gracious even when I inadvertently dyed a number of his towels. Highly recommend. This worked well for our family.

What a view!

Amazing views of river Sog and very handy location for golden circle and local facilities in Selfoss. Bjorn (host) had left very good instructions for everything in the lodge. Spotlessly clean, everything works and the hot tub is amazing - geothermal heating for the lodge and tub. Amazing stay - I would recommend this accommodation.

Amazing

We really enjoyed our stay at this logde, with fantastic view over the lake and a very comfortable house in every way. The kitchen was more than fully equiped to suite every need to make dinner - and we loved the wide ragne of wine glasses and coffee making possibilities. To make the stay even better there is not much to add, we had good communication with Björn all the way trough. We were all 6 very happy with the stay and will return to this house again if we visit Iceland again.

Slice of Icelandic paradise

Captivating location and cabin, with a gorgeous view over the river, and to the mountains. Ducks, geese, swans and even a couple of eagles to watch through the really big windows. The host was great to communicate with, and settled our nerves about the local roads / weather before we arrived. We didn’t need to ask anything else as it was all perfect. Cabin is furnished with just about everything you could want / need. Lucky enough to spend a few nights in the geothermal hot tub under a clear sky full of stars, and treated to a mesmerising aurora display on one night too. This was our 3rd visit to this magical island and we would definitely recommend this cabin.

Perfect Quiet Sanctuary

This rental property and it’s host are absolutely fantastic! The house was perfect and cozy, had a very nice kitchen we made great meals in and I loved having a washer dryer there. We got snowed in one day and enjoyed teas by the huge windows and watched the river flow by. We enjoyed watching the Northern Lights in the perfect size and temperature hot tub. The view abs lighting was perfect. We made it home every day to make sure we could watch the sun set over the mountains. We also loved they had the perfect glasses for all your favorite adult beverages and a fantastic set of plates and cups. We felt so at home we didn’t want to leave. We can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely perfect!

It was the trip of a lifetime and the house was perfect! We saw the northern lights from the hot tub. We had a minor issue with the hot tub which the owner resolved within an hour. I loved the relatively private location and the incredible view. The house was nice and clean and had all the supplies we needed. Every time I was confused about how to work something, there was a little note with an explanation - the dishwasher, the dryer, the TV, the shower, etc.. It was really thoughtful. The GPS would have taken us down the wrong road towards the end of the trip, so you should follow the owner's instructions.

Très bel endroit, les jours où il pleuvait on a pu profiter du bain à 40 degrés. Agréable même sous la pluie. Très confortable, on se sent chez soi au bout de 30 minutes chrono. Juste prévoir un répulsif contre les petits moucherons (quand la saison s’y prête…
