The Estate holds 2 stone segments of housing with a roof terrace and cozy pool overlooking âcarpetsâ of olive groves.
Bigger segment offers a separate bedroom, one bathroom and a living area connected with the kitchen complex. All designed and furnished with ascetic elegance of earthy colors and materials. It can sleep 2 persons and provides extension for another 2 people that could use the living room couch. Balcony doors lead to the intimate veranda with shaded space and natural wall of bay leaf trees.
A smaller studio, right on the side, sharing spacious covered veranda with a bigger part of the house, welcomes 2 people with more of an open space layout including bedroom and a living area as well as a small kitchenette and its separate bathroom.
Right below the house, connected with a short flight of stairs, there is a spacious village style square.
Markakis Estate is a distinctive private property and events venue nestled in the picturesquely calm village of Apokoronas area â Embrosneros, built on the land of Markakis family. You will find its organic infrastructure settled below the upper village with a few houses built at the beginning of the 20th century while the downhill village square is 20 min walk away with its mini market, authentic local bakery, old fashioned Greek kafeneio and family run tavern serving best Sfakian pitas, local cheeses and meat delicacies.
Tower of Alidakis built around 16th century and standing for the great part of Cretan history of 18th century together with a stone impressive Amphitheater dated in the modern times, yet holding traditional way of Cretan constructions, are the closest, walking distance main attractions of the area.
Estateâs perfect location connects you within 40 min drive to the best of Crete: towns of Chania and Rethymnon as well Southern village of Sfakia from where you can take day trips along the Libyan Sea and its hidden gems such as villages of Loutro or Agia Roumeli spread at the exit of Samaria Gorge.
