Välkommen till Rocky Point på Squaw Valley! Ett unikt åttkantigt hem nyligen renoverat och beläget mitt i centrala Kaliforniens vackra Sierra Nevada Foothills, bara 1 timme öster om Fresno, CA. Ligger högt uppe på en ås erbjuder vi några av de mest fantastiska utsikten över de omgivande bergen och San Joaquin Valley. Om du letar efter en bra get-a-way för avkoppling eller äventyr är vi platsen för dig.

Aktiviteter i närheten: Sommar och vinteraktiviteter i Kings Canyon National Park, Sequoia National Park och Sequoia National Forest - inte att missa i parkerna General Grant och General Sherman Trees, Grizzly Falls, Roaring River Falls, Boyden Cave (för närvarande stängd medan genomgår reparationer), Crystal Caverns, Moro Rock, ridning, Buck Rock Fire Lookout och massor av spännande dagsturer. fantastiskt fiske vid Hume Lake, White Water Rafting längs Kings River med Kings River Expeditions, Avocado Lake och Pine Flat Lake; och 15 minuter till vår lokala Project Survival Cat Haven (missa inte detta), Fresno Field Archers och US Forest Service Delilah Fire Lookout (endast bemannade sommarmånader).

Äta nära: Bear Mountain Pizza (bra pizza), Twin Valley (bra mat och de har en bar), 30 min - School House Restaurant & Tavern (väl värt köra och levande musik på helgerna).

Vår egendom ligger också inom några minuter av 2 lokala vingårdar - Sierra Peaks Winery och Riffelhof Vineyards. Sierra Peaks är öppen 12 - 5 s. m. Lördag och söndag, juni till september (559) 731-1960. Riffelhof Vineyards är endast efter överenskommelse (559) 640-7477. Lite längre nerför backen finns flera vingårdar - Cedar View Winery, Kings River Winery, Maréchal Vineyards och andra.

Vi har 3 snygga butiker och 2 bensinstationer (en med diesel) i närheten för allt du kanske har glömt.

Observera att detta är en icke-rökare och på grund av den höga brandfaren finns inga öppna lågor tillåtna den 1 april till 1 november.

Om du planerar att ta med husdjur (som är välkomna), behåll dem alltid i snedstreck när vi är ute i landet - vi vill inte att någon förlorar sina vänner. Lämna inte husdjur bundna utanför.

This property is absolutely stunning! The house is fully stocked with everything you need to cook meals and enjoy the Sequoia/Kings Canyon area. We especially appreciated the camping chairs and backpacks that were available for us to use. It was very comfortable, and we will definitely be returning next summer.

Home base to visit National Parks

Rocky Point is a wonderful home on the top of one of the Sierra foothills. The views from the decks and large windows made us wish we never had to leave. The proximity to Kings Canyon and Seqouia national parks made day trips to those parks convenient. The drives into the parks themselves are breathtaking, but even the drive through the foothills to and from Rocky Point are beautiful.Everything in the home was 100% functional, the China dishes in the kitchen are beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful views

We loved our stay at this house! The views can't be beat, it's not too far from the entrance to Kings Canyon National Park, and the beds are super comfortable. Definitely recommend!

This property was amazing! The views are spectacular. The pictures do not do this home justice. My family and I loved our stay. It is extremely close to Kings Canyon and Sequoia NP!

Quick getaway

The home was nicely stocked with all that was needed to cook meals and the views were lovely. We spent our three days in Kings Canyon/Sequoia and it was convenient to commute to the parks. We went down the hill to Schoolhouse Bar and Tavern for dinner one evening and that was fun. As others have said, the friendly cat was a treat too.

Gorgeous house. Amazing view. Tastefully decorated. Luxury bedding. What’s not to like? The only thing that would have made our stay better is if it were longer. I could have stayed here a month and been happy.

Perfect! Amazing views and quick drive into the parks

This house is great. Up a steep hill with 360 degree panoramic views of the area. The patio wraps around the house and has a door on it so the dogs can hang out outside and not run off. Clean and comfortable. Has everything you need for a great launching point into the parks. Quick drive to the park entrance - about 45 minutes. Can't wait to come back.

A beautiful escape

We had a wonderful time spending Thanksgiving at this place. It was so cute and well designed. It felt clean, inviting, and the open floor plan is quite spacious. We loved the multiple bathrooms and wrap around decks. The views are stunning and sunset each evening was simply breathtaking. It was the perfect place to relax and get away from the stresses of daily life, and I would absolutely go back. Highly recommend.

Hidden Gem!

This is best property that my family has stayed in while vacationing. The pictures can't do this place justice. The views from all over the house are amazing and the sunsets are breathtaking. It's a little bit of a drive to Kings Canyon and Sequoia parks but very doable. It was stocked with everything that we needed. The host were so nice and communicated with us. If we are ever back in the area, we will stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Great House, One Annoying Issue

The house was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. I really enjoyed staying there. The house had some folding chairs, coolers, and extra towels which were really nice to take to Hume Lake. There was also a really cute cat that lived at house, no idea her name but she responded when my daughter called her Stella. A note on the location. The location was exactly as described, but it is fairly remote. About a 45 minute drive up to the Grant Grove and not many restaurants at all. If I had stayed more than a few nights I would've definitely wanted to cook there. Being up on the hill gave really nice views and it was nice being isolated. I did look for something closer to the park, and I think this was by far the best option even though it was a little bit of a haul each day. The annoying issue: The only window coverings in the house were white sheer curtains and the house had a lot of windows. The bedrooms were on the east side of the, so it was very bright in the rooms by 5:30 waking us all up. Also, the cat's house was on the deck next to the master bedroom, a couple of times I thought there was an animal in the walls because it was loud and I didn't realize it was out there until our last morning. Overall, I would definitely stay here again, but I hope the owner gets some darker window coverings.

Superb house in the foothills

We were absolutely blown away by this house! Location! Location! Location! We stayed for 4 nights while visiting the parks and we were thrilled to be going back to the house each evening. The rental is very relaxing and has great sunsets. The bed in the master was very comfortable and the kids loved the trundle bed. The deck is great for relaxing on in the evening. We loved the clean and simple decor as it contributed to the sense of peace. While no internet at first was a little daunting, after a day I was happy to not even have the option. The drive to the park is about 45 min but is beautiful the whole way. The owner was very responsive with the one issue that came up and had a repairman there very quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed much longer.

It was bigger than a solo traveler needed but I have no regrets. Beautiful location fairly close to the national parks. Some barking dogs but otherwise quite peaceful. I loved hanging out with the family of friendly cats, especially since I was away from my own animals. Easy check in and access. Would recommend to anyone, but would certainly be great for a family or small group!

Great place to stay, comfortable, cozy, but not frilly. It's well built and well designed -- a great place to hang out and cook! As some have noted, the park is about 45 minutes away, and it's further if you want to get to the backcountry areas (of course). That said, we had no problem driving in 3 days. Wifi worked great, helpful travel books are around, and the beds were comfy!

An hour from Kings Canyon/Sequioa National Parks. Easy to get to. The Parks are amazing and the property ilwas such a delight to come home to after a long day of hiking. Beautiful views, quiet and just perfect.

Great place to stay! Remote, peaceful and full of everything you need. Take time to enjoy the remarkable sunsets from the deck and head outside after dark for a beautiful sky full of stars. The home is well-stocked and has extras like rain ponchos, backpacks, maps, yoga mats and a cupboard full of spices, cooking spray, etc. It's an easy drive to Kings Canyon and Sequoia. The area is rural with winding roads so plan ahead. There are no quick trips! But the home and views are worth it.Check out Remeadies down the hill. Unique and fun place to try mead (loved it!) Larry was quick to respond to questions. Communications were great. We'd love to visit again someday!

Larry and Merili Loucks är värd

Larry and Merili reside in Fresno and manage to get up to their vacation home as often as they can. Larry, an advertising executive, and Merili, a licensed Realtor love the process of renovating homes and have accomplished it many times. They both flip homes on occasion in Fresno, and when they saw this home in 2016, they just had to go take a look. It had been vacant and very run down. They spent 4 months fully renovating the home and are now able to go up and enjoy. As busy as they both are, they decided to share this little unique gem and began renting it out as a vacation rental the summer of 2017.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Larry's family roots run deep in the area. His great grandfather William “Bill” Clingan came to the area in 1911 as a Forest Ranger and in 1915 he became a District Ranger. During his life he lead parties from the Santa Barbara area into the Kings Canyon area for summer camps, was a member of the first road survey party from Grants Grove into Kings Canyon and built and ran the General Store and tourist cabins in Dunlap, which were later moved to Clingan’s Junction and still bears his family name. He was also one of the members of the committee that was instrumental in bringing electricity into the foothills. Larry's Grandfather, William's son, Forest Clingan grew up in the General Store at Clingan’s Junction and lived with the family in a cabin behind the store. Forest Clingan was a member of the 1938 survey party that surveyed the last leg of the road in the Kings Canyon area to Cedar Grove and beyond. He was a WWII Vet and a Naval Captain until his retirement in the 1970s when he moved back to the family residence on Hopewell Rd.
Larry's Grandmother Helen was an accomplished artist and both of them were very active in documenting the history of the area, publishing a book on the subject and giving historical talks to many groups.
Ask any long time resident of the area and both Grandparents and Great Grandparents are both fondly remembered.
Larry has many fond memories of spending summers and vacations in the area at my Grandparents’ house, roaming among the golden hills, exploring back country roads with my grandfather and traveling up to the park.
