Beautiful Home

We had a fantastic visit here. The house is spacious, clean, comfortable, and has incredible views. All pictures and descriptions of the property are accurate. Very convenient to get to Salida and Monarch. Great place for families with young children. The owner is very communicative and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Lovely getaway

We truly enjoyed our time here again this year. The layout of the house is wonderful for multiple families and the location is great, just a short drive to Monarch Mountain and downtown Salida. Hope we can stay with you again!

We had a great time staying in this cabin. It was incredibly convenient to Salida, Monarch Mountain, hiking. It had everything you needed for a wonderful stay. Very clean and cozy.

Location, location, location! This was a beautiful place. It was large enough for our whole family to enjoy the time together. The property manager was great. We had everything we needed. The house was fully equipped and 100% accurate to the listing.

Great location

We had a group of 6 friends going ; wheeling for a 3 day trip and enjoyed being all together. We enjoyed the house. It was neat and clean and very easy to work with them. The only thing that I would recommend is that there needed to be better lighting in the living room.

Convenient stay for day trips. Comfortable deck for meals. Close to town for supplies and eats. Overall worked for three different units. Loft a little scary for youngsters. Maybe consider protection for bedroom window upstairs.

Monarch Mtn. Ski Trip

Overall, the stay was an OK experience. Property was clean and centrally located between Salida & Monarch Mtn., however, the property is in close proximity to a KOA campground, which would not be enjoyable in the summer given increased activity. Unfortunately, I think VRBO is pricing themselves out of the market when one considers the fees, taxes, cleaning fees, and the property manager expects the tenant to clean the house themselves. VRBO needs a better business model as compared to the price of a hotel room.

Perfect for Monarch Ski Trip

Cozy home with gorgeous views. Convenient drive to Monarch Mountain as well aa into the downtown part of Salida. All the cooking accessories we needed-and more-were provided, along with various condiments, spices, cooking oils. The only thing we were surprised by was how close a couple of the neighboring homes were. From the pictures, the home looks very remote; however, you are close to a main road with a few homes very close by. These factors did not obscure the view or give us any issues, but it’s worth mentioning. We loved our stay and are considering making it a yearly family trip!

Great house, convenient location

Lisa made pre trip planning and check in smooth and simple. Great communication and quick to respond. House was clean, well supplied, bed’s comfortable, and wow, what a view! The only minor complaint that has nothing to do with the property manager or listing, more the contractor or HVAC technician. Was that the forced air heat was unbelievably loud, and made it difficult to sleep next too. Other than that would highly recommend and will be back again.

We came up for a family cousin trip, all adults, and this house was perfect!! It is spacious and had all the amenities we needed. We especially loved being able to sit around the big table all together! The view of the fall colors was so beautiful. The host is so kind and had great communication with us. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a very nice stay for our group of four adults. Beautiful home with lots of games and puzzles. Fun decor. Everything we needed to cook a few meals and enjoy some wine. The deck was nice and the weather perfect to enjoy a bit of time outside.

This home is owned by Firehouse Vacation Properties LLC and Thomas/Tommie Hixson and Brian/Laura Cudaback. Brian and Thomas recently retired from the fire service where each spent over 30 years. The Cudaback’s and Hixson’s have skied at Monarch Mountain for over 25 years before becoming homeowners just minutes from the mountain. We are passionate about providing a comfortable living space where families can compile as many memories as we have in and around Salida.

We chose this house because of the location and its proximity to Monarch Mountain, Salida and the so many other family friendly things to experience.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

We are still amazed at the beauty as we sit on the large patio and look toward the west. The sunsets are unmatched by anywhere in the world. ATV/hiking trails and within walking distance from the front door.
