We first discovered Vaux-sur-Mer by chance 12 years ago while looking for a peaceful seaside escape with long sandy beachesâa place to truly unwind from the stresses of daily life. Over the next decade, we returned whenever we could. Its sunshine, calm atmosphere, and family-friendly charm made it our favourite getaway. Even short stays left us feeling relaxed and recharged.
As our children grew, so did our love for this special place, which became our go-to destination for school holidays and long weekends all year round. Our children played for hours on âour little beach.â We would walk to the seafront to watch the sunset, browse the markets for fresh seafood, and head out in the eveningsâthere was always somewhere to go and something to see or do.
In August 2024, we finally moved here permanently.
Our goal: to bring all the knowledge and experience weâd gained from 11 years of professionally hosting guests in the Dordogne to craft our ideal seaside holiday experienceâwith all the thoughtful touches weâve learned can make a holiday just that little bit better.
Location was key. We wanted to be just a short walk from the beach, the seafront, cafĂ©s, bars, and marketsâyet still somewhere peaceful and safe, a perfect base to explore the Charente-Maritime.
