Inbäddat precis inuti Tahoe National Forest ligger detta vackra logghus högt uppe på resterna av en gammal hydraulisk guldgruva med panoramautsikt över Banner Mountains och skogen. Detta unika hem ger en upplevelse av att vara lugnt avskild, men är en kort sju mil bilresa till centrala Nevada City, och erbjuder bra mat, underhållning, museer och shopping. LMR was the perfect nature getaway for our family. The cabin was beautiful, clean, spacious, and well stocked with everything we needed. The community lake and playground was a short walk down the hill which was a great activity in the mornings. Gary was super communicative and flexible when we needed to rearrange plans. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

Yuba River mountain home

This mountain house is an amazing place for a family get together. Quiet, rustic, clean, close to the beautiful yuba River. Nice hot tub too!

The floor plan offers places to play, a homey kitchen for cooking and eating together, and outdoor seating for nightly games, s'mores and sunsets. We enjoyed each of these spaces. We also spent an evening birding at the park and lake just down the hill. We felt we were in a remote hideaway and yet could access the various destinations in Nevada County that we had come to research and explore. The only voyeurs were the nearby deer and buck. Fun!

Great Stay at LMR

We had a great time at the Lost Mine Retreat. The house is exactly as described and pictured on VRBO. The location is a bit isolated being 15 minutes from Nevada City and a few minutes from Scott's Flat Reservoir, but it's very quiet and private at the house. The bedrooms were all clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The hot tub worked great and the paddle boards and kayaks were a bonus. It was also nice walking down around the nearby neighborhood pond although the mosquitos were brutal in May. The bears are definitely active in this area, so be careful with your trash!

Quiet and relaxing

We came to Nevada City to consider relocating and wanted to spend time in a neighborhood and found the property in a lovely location although a few minutes from the commercial district which we decided was a good thing. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating which made us feel welcome and want to return to the home again.

All the information about the house was accurate and easy to follow. The property manager was very responsive. The house was big enough for all ten of us. And we had a great time.

Christmas Stay

We had a quiet, really nice stay at this really comfortable cabin! It was very nice, with a gas fireplace, nice sized kitchen, a hot tub, plenty of parking and a nice walk to a small pond. It was set beautifully in the trees! A bit of a drive from town, but that made it more quiet!

Relaxing and cozy

Gary was extremely responsive to all requests and provided a lot of excellent information about the property and the region in advance. We were there on a cold and wet weekend but the heating and the hot tub made it all warm. We had a big storm and the power went out and the backup generator kicked in within 10 seconds. House had everything you need. The kitchen was well stocked with staples and pots, pans, etc. and the dryer was very useful on such a wet weekend. One tip: the cable TV wasn’t working for us so bring your own laptop (or your own DVDs) if you want to watch something. The house/neighborhood is very quiet and only 10-15 minutes drive from Nevada City. There are also excellent hiking trails nearby. Definitely recommend and we may well come back next year.

Exactly what we needed at LMR

The LMR property was fantastic and exactly what our family needed to visit with and stay near relatives who are based in and near Nevada City. Clean, comfortable, and cozy, the property was impeccable and the attention to detail by Gary the owner is outstanding. And Nevada City is charming and wonderful to visit. We also took a wonderful day trip to Lake Tahoe (a reasonable 90-minute drive each way). Upon leaving, we immediately missed our morning hot tub! Thank you, Gary!

A Great Nevada City Getaway

Gary's spot is the place to be! As a host, I couldn't have asked for a more thorough and communicative host who provided all the necessary information you could think of. The property is amazing! Secluded and peaceful in the woods with an amazing interior and kitchen for all your needs. Exceptional hot tub as well! The property is a bit of a drive to Nevada City and Grass Valley's downtown areas but it's also a really lovely drive and the roads are perfectly in tact so nothing to worry about there. I would highly recommend!

Lovely, peaceful, well cared for, great location!!

Everything you could need has been thought out. The cabin, is clean, well kept, just Lovely!! We played Jenga, life sized jenga, watched the 49ers. Went down to the Lost mine park down the street, enjoyed the Grass valley antique mall, went to the Gold star mining museum, had a great chat with the really nice lady at the local market down the street, spent some time at the narrow gauge railroad museum. Hiked around the cabin. Had family over, cooked, laughed, just enjoyed the wonderful space!! We had a family wedding down at the park, and on the various days leading up to and the day of.the wedding. We had plenty of space to host groups of family and friends. Everyone who came was so impressed!! Gary has provided such a wonderful space to truly have a great vacation!! It is an experience!!!

Cabin in the woods

The cabin itself was beautiful and nestled on top of a hill that would be awesome to sled down when it snows but gave us a gorgeous view during summer. The cabin is perfectly located and not too far away from any activity. But it’s far enough away that you feel secluded. The hot tub was wonderful and we could see so many stars at night! I was surprised how fully stacked the cabin was. There were kayaks and paddle boards that you could use there! You don’t need to stress if you forgot anything. Gary has got you covered! Overall it was a wonderful time and we will definitely be back!

This place is even better in person. The hot tub is hot, the trees are big, the AC works great, and the owner is highly responsive to any concerns. We will be back, frequesnt and often hopefully.

Nice Cabin for get away

Everything was great. Fully stocked cabin with a lot of amenities. The neighborhood “pool” was really a stagnant water pond. Scott’s flat lake was beautiful, however. We enjoyed our stay.

Loved this place!

I stayed at the Lost Mine Retreat with four of my friends. We had traveled to the Nevada City area to visit the Yuba River. We loved how close the river was in proximity to the cabin. The Lost Mine Retreat was a great place to come back to after our daily river adventures. The property was very clean and there were a lot of amenities that we really enjoyed. The giant Jenga kept us thoroughly entertained. We also enjoyed bbq ing on the grill and relaxing in the hot tub. Gary was an amazing host. He was very polite and responsive. I would definitely stay at Lost Mine Retreat again!

A slice of heaven!

If you're looking for a getaway that's not too isolated but remote enough to feel like there's nobody else around, then the Lost Mine Retreat is for you. It's a stunning cabin that you can tell has been meticulously cared for. It has everything you need for a relaxing stay, no matter what type of activity you're into. We celebrated my parents' 50th anniversary there and it was absolutely perfect. The best part is that Gary, the host, couldn't have been more accommodating and communicative. It was hands down the BEST VRBO experience we've had to date.

Perfect Family Time Together

We gathered our son and his family to come up and stay minutes away from where our daughter and her family lives. We celebrated a graduation and fathers day all together. It was a plus that our little older pups could join us too. The place was perfect for us in every way. Plus we all slept well 😌 We all look forward to returning again and again.

What a place!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Lost Mine Retreat. Plenty of room for our grown kids and 2 grandkids to feel comfortable and enjoy the space. Everything we needed for our stay was available and the property was clean and new. We were a short drive outside of Nevada City where we went each day to grab a meal or hit the store in town. Great little town to just walk around. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi and made use of the BBQ’s out last night there along with the boys playing a cornhole tournament. They also had kayaks which we did not use but were available if needed. Gary was great to work with and very accommodating. We will definitely plan another trip to the Lost Mine Retreat.

Spring Break Success!

We recently stayed at Lost Mine Retreat for a week with our kids for Spring Break. We were looking for a place in the woods to unplug but close enough to town to do some shopping and exploring. Gary takes his super host role to heart. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and he was easily accessible for questions. There was no shortage of towels and linens, generous supply of sundry items, the kitchen was stocked with spices, condiments, non-scratched pans and utensils. And best of all, nothing expired! The hot tub was clean as was the kayaks and life-vests. If you are looking for a place to get away for a weekend or week in the woods, look no further. You won’t regret staying at Lost Mine Retreat. We highly recommend it and would book it again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

As California Natives, we are outdoor enthusiasts. We, and our large family have been coming to, and vacationing in the woods near Scotts Flat Lake, the South Yuba river, and Nevada City for years! As avid dirt bikers, mountain bike riders, 4-wheelers, skiers, boaters, Kayaker's, paddle boarders, and hikers, the beautiful area of Lost Mine Retreat is where we've found our happy place. When it came available for purchase, we had to have it! Some day, when we're able to, we plan to retire to the area.
