Great location

The location was perfect, 5 minutes to Norton point 10 minutes to town - loved that our dogs were welcome! I wish the living space was a bit larger with better seating, but overall it was a great spot!

Swimming in a pool among the trees!

The house needs was fine but the pool was a surprisingly so peaceful because you are among the trees listening to nature on a very nice deck. It's a nice home but it could use some more deep cleaning and updates. My family had a wonderful vacation and the location was perfect. Thank you

Vineyard Vibes

This is our ninth year visiting the Vineyard and our 2nd year staying at Marsha & Alan's home. My 12 year twins love the home, having their own room and of course the swim spa. We thoroughly love the location and the proximity it offers to various areas of the island. We leveraged the biking trails as well as exploring the neighborhood on walks. The neighborhood is quiet to enable you to recharge and their home has all amenities to make it a stress free vacation. Marsha & Alan as well as all other members of their staff are very responsive, helpful and very welcoming. If you are looking for a home away from home to enjoy your vacation, this is the spot!

Vacation was a 10 out of 10

The house was the perfect size for our family which included 6 adults and a 2 year old dog. The weather was perfect all week and we got to enjoy the pool and hot tub several times throughout the week. Alan was very responsive and easy to communicate with both before our stay and during. He even made a point to drop off a new blender to us when we let him know that the existing one was not working. It was also great to be able to have the air conditioning on the hotter days and there was plenty of outdoor seating for everyone to be together or spread out over the course of our week.

Katama Getaway

We stayed in mid July 2020 , a very warm week for the island but was very comfortable in this new home with my family(hubby and 3 grown sons). This location is ideal for biking to South or Katama point beaches and close to the Katama airfield, which has a stellar restaurant and great biplane rides- we enjoyed all. Best feature is the outdoor shower- covered in vines and growing grapes; beautiful outdoor spaces and gardens- a gem!

Good location. Needs a little attention to detail.

We really enjoyed our stay in the house. There were some issues that, if resolved, would have made the stay better. These ranged from minor issues such as only providing decaffeinated coffee and some Jets not working in the hot tub to the biggest problem of dealing with ants in the kitchen. But overall, we enjoyed our stay.

GREAT ending after a "surprise" start

We had a wonderful 2 weeks at this charming property after a rough start. Upon arrival we were shocked at the condition of the home. There were enormous PILES of trash behind the house, trash and dog feces littering the gardens, some broken outdoor furniture, stained carpets, etc. etc. The housekeepers were still there and could only do a quick surface cleaning as the prior "guests" had left more than 2 hours after the checkout time. An immediate phone call to Alan Schaffel the owner and it became apparent this was NOT the usual condition of the home and, unfortunately, the renters the week before us had "trashed" this home. After speaking with Alan, we were re-assured and decided to stay. In less than 3 hours he had the trash hauled away, yard waste cleaned, broken outdoor coffee table fixed, new recycle and trash bins delivered and pick ups scheduled. He also had a brand new washer and dryer installed early that week, and housekeepers to return mid stay! The housekeepers came with 4 persons this time and the home was gleaming when they were done. Alan and Marsha came by personally to meet us and bring several needed/missing items (iron, ironing board, hairdryer, beach towels, new outdoor umbrella). Unfortunately, we were at the beach and missed them but would love to have met them as they could not have been any more responsive, concerned and appropriate. They too were extremely upset with the condition their home had been left in by the prior renter and even gave us a gift certificate to The Black Dog, which was totally unnecessary, but very considerate and appreciated! We would not hesitate to stay in this lovely home again. During our time we were anywhere between 4 and 6 adults, or 5 adults and an infant and there was plenty of room. The location is perfect and convenient to Edgartown, South Beach, Morning Glory Farm, Katama airfield, etc. We love MV!! Thank you to Alan and Marsha for making our 2 week stay in our "Happy Place" so pleasant after a less than 24 hr "rough start"!! Would not hesitate to come back again!!!

Excellent home with open floor plan

This amazing property has it all: open floor plan, high ceilings, great flow and furniture. Plenty of outdoor seating and eating areas. Awesome jacuzzi and pool with hydro jets for swimming. Close to Main street, beaches and in the center of it all. Privacy and traquility abound. I will definitely be a repeat renter.

Martha's Vineyard Family Vacation

Great location, 5 minutes to town, 5 minutes to beach. Can bike to both town and the beach with ease. Nice house, well maintained. Love the pool / hot tub. Many outdoor seating options depending on time of day. Owners were the most communicative I have come across in my rental history. Highly recommend the hosts, Marsha and Alan, as well as this property.

Beautiful home in Martha's Vineyard!

This property is beautifully kept with all of the amenities of home available. A bonus was the jacuzzi, which was our favorite way to spend the evenings. This was our first VRBO trip and we couldn't be more pleased. The owner, Alan was quick to respond to any questions and the whole rental process was very easy. Thank you for the wonderful accommodations.

Great Escape

Male Bonding Trip

Four single guys decided to visit Martha’s Vineyard in late August. We didn’t start looking for a house until late April so we totally lucked out with this property. There is plenty of room to hang out, or get some solo time. I enjoyed sitting by the pool, and on the porch. One day I walked to downtown Edgartown, which was only 30 minutes by foot. We cooked several times both on the grill and inside. I also loved that I could be in Oak Bluffs in 15 minutes via car. A few of us said that this was the best 7 day vacation we have taken in a long time. Alan was amazing as we planned for our trip. He answered all of our questions, which was really helpful. I highly recommended this home.

Wonderful property!

This house is in a wonderful Katama location, so easy to get to South Beach, Katama General Store, Morning Glory Farm, and downtown Edgartown via bike or car. Beautiful living area with lots of natural light, multiple lovely outdoor seating areas as well. Beautiful hydrangeas were all over the property. The outdoor shower was so cool covered in grape vines for ambiance and privacy! I am an avid swimmer and the jet pool was so nice— I could keep up my exercise routine on days when the ocean surf was too rough. It also had hydro massage jets and you could control the temperature of the pool and hot tub! Very nice maintenance folks came once per week to take care of the pool which was also really great. The house was well stocked with everything you need to cook meals (lobster pot, pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, toaster, kettle, microwave, etc.) as well as beach towels and very comfy bath towels too. The interior had very charming coastal decor throughout the home giving it the perfect beach house vibe. Alan and Marsha were so easy to work with and very accommodating and friendly. They were communicative but not overly so, just the right amount of contact. Thank you! We would love to come back, we have been renting in Edgartown for the last 7 years and this was the best place we have stayed so far!

Katama getaway

Home is in a great location with a short drive/bike ride to Edgartown and the Chappaquiddick ferry. Close to major roads to other parts of the island like Aquinnah, Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. We enjoyed staying in this home and the pool and jacuzzi are wonderful. Property is dog friendly which was important to us. One issue, towels were stated as being provided in the listing but none were to be found in bathrooms. We had to take some from a closet that was labeled for housekeeping. Probably an oversight.

Great house & location

My wife and I & 2 dogs just had an idyllic one week stay at the house. The location was perfect for quick outings to Edgartown & Katama Beach as well as short rides to Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and the rest of the island. Alan was readily available for any questions regarding the house or island and the house provided many of the comforts of home, including the pool/hot tub out back. The house was only a mile from Katama airport, from which I took a biplane ride, which was a hoot. Thanks again for hosting us at your beautiful house.

Great house in a great area !

This was our first time renting this house in the area and we could not have been more pleased with our experience! The owners reached out and welcomed us to the house and told us they were available anytime we had questions. The house was extremely clean and decorated very nicely in a nautical theme throughout the house, which enhanced our island experience. The TV room as a good size, very good quality Smart TV that allowed us to log into Netflix and Prime, plus all other streaming services were available too. The location for us was perfect since it was a bike ride away to Edgartown and South Beach, located on a quite street, which was also a great location to walk our dog. We were also very surprised at the quality of bed linens and bath towels, plus they provided beach / pool towels too. The grounds are beautiful with gorgeous flowers all around. The outside also has multiple seating areas with two large nice tables to accommodate a family that wants to eating outside. The grill was pretty good and worked nicely and met out needs, but they do need a grill brush and the owner told me he would get a new one. The kitchen was nicely appointed and had everything we needed. We cant wait to go back.
