The perfect vacation stay

The property and stay had everything we were looking for a relaxed, beautiful place to end our babymoon. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and shown the ropes by the host. Should anything be needed during the stay, you can bet you would be taken care of. The view alone should be enough to convince you. The bed was very comfortable. There is an ac available, although we enjoyed opening up the windows for a fresh, cool breeze throughout the night. We would love to come back for any future visits to the island.

What a view!

My wife and I honeymooned here and it was everything we hoped for. It's a sweet little cottage just right for two with an elevated view of the north coast that is absolutely amazing. The kitchen is adequate for preparing simple meals including a propane grill on the spacious deck. The driveway is a bit challenging but we managed it in an economy car which was all that was available at the time. I jeep would be preferable. I highly recommend this lovely small home for a romantic getaway if you like something quiet and out of the way. This is also a great place for birdwatchers if you like that sort of thing. We saw several species for the first time from the deck.

Rain Forest Mountain Top Getaway

If you're looking for a secluded, intimate get away, this is a lovely spot and a lovely cottage. Located on top of a mountain in the rain forest, it takes at least 17 minutes to get anywhere (except one of the beaches is only 12 minutes away). As noted, be sure to rent a jeep or SUV. Regular cars won't be able to handle the very poor Virgin Islands roads to the cozy spot. Imagine a pothole and then quadruple it. The cottage deck is the best perk. What a view! And because of its location, we didn't need to use the air conditioner once. The owner was wonderful and available for anything needed. And because of the location, he meets you at the airport to guide you to the hidden location. Amenities like body soap and such could be better. And every screen has holes, so opening windows let the bugs in. Still, we were very happy with our cottage for 2 weeks.

Christmas 2024

The bungalow was just like the pictures. The oversized deck was great to sit on and just relax. The owners lived close. They were very friendly and responsive to our requests. We asked for a grill and they delivered that day. If you want a nice out of the way relaxing place this is it.

North Shore St Croix View

Comfortable cottage in the hills above the North Shore St Croix. Beautiful views having coffee each morning. Location is off the beaten path and very peaceful. If not familiar with the island the owner will meet you and lead you up. You will need a vehicle with a bit of ground clearance but doesn't have to be a Jeep. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. The owner's dogs are very friendly and Ginger showed up for breakfast one morning. Sweet girl that Ginger.

St Croix Mountain Bungalow

We had a wonderful stay here! The view is gorgeous, the house is a cozy little mountain bungalow. Just a little heads up that the water pressure in the shower wasn’t great, and I would definitely recommend renting an SUV of some sort, as the lane to the house is dirt/gravel and there are pot holes and parts that are a bit washed away that a car would have a tough time (we rented a car at first and traded it in for a Jeep on day 2). Other than those couple of minor things, we loved it! Michael and his son were both very nice and helpful, and Michael was available and quick to answer with any questions we had. It’s just a short drive to Cane Bay and the price was fantastic! Id definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting St. Croix.

Amazing view of paradise!

Our stay was exceptional! The cottage was just as described. It was a perfect spot for us. The view was gorgeous! We loved that you were able to wake up and have an amazing view from your bed! Hosts are super friendly and helpful! We will definitely stay here again!

Fantastic views, central location!

My wife and I really enjoyed staying here! You do have to drive a short way up Scenic West - definitely doable in a car, but a Jeep is more fun. The views from this place are amazing! You can see the other islands to the north with no issues. At night you can watch the cruise ships slowly move to their next port. The breezes are amazing! I can't imagine needing the AC, plus you can hear the waves crashing at night. I stayed an extra week and worked remote. Internet was great the entire time. Mike was great if I had any requests and was very responsive. Will definitely stay here again on future visits!

Mostly pros, some cons..

Overall, this is a good property if you want to be closer to the nature on St Croix. The cottage is nestled in the hillside overlooking Cane Bay. It is a good sized cottage for two people. The view is gorgeous, it is private, the bed is comfortable, the sofa is comfortable. The kitchen and bath are bare minimum and the deck needs to be replaced. There is currently no table on the deck but there are deck chairs and a sunshade. The cottage is tidy but needs a good deep cleaning. The host is very responsive. You may want to rent a high clearance vehicle since the roads to the cottage are rural and rutted. We had a jeep and enjoyed the adventure. Overall this cottage was in a central location but rural. It had everything we needed but we wished there was better kitchen equipment and was cleaned more thoroughly.

Perfect New Year's Stay

My wife and I had a wonderful visit to St. Croix and enjoyed our stay at this secluded, mountain top cottage. Michael was an excellent host with prompt responses, knowledge of the island, and everything we would want from a host. The cottage is perfect for a couple with all the basics provided, and the view can't be beat. Location wise, you are about 5-10 minutes from Cane Bay and some local bars, and 20-30 minutes to anywhere else on the island. We would absolutely stay here again.

Michael met our taxi and took us to the property and introduced us to it and its amenities! He took us to the airport to avoid taxi! Beautiful scenery and the kitchen has everything you need!

Great trip

Owner met us at a nearby bar and we followed her in our rental car up to the house to check in. It’s like a studio apartment, great for two adults. A/C unit over the sleeping area, plenty of ceiling fans. The bathroom was nothing fancy, but functional which is all we needed. It’s the kind where the top is open to the entire place so you must be comfortable with each other’s bodily functions lol. Owners were responsive and helpful. Would recommend having an all-wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle as half the way up is dirt road. We did perfectly fine in a Toyota RAV4. We liked the secluded location and the view. We would stay there again if we go back someday!

Everything You Need

My husband and I just returned from a one week stay at this property. It was amazing. The location is only 5 minutes from Cane Bay yet so private. The views are incredible. Everything you need is provided just add groceries. The check in was easy and Mike was there to meet us at the airport to make finding the place a breeze. Can’t wait to return.

Amazing views!

Seriously I cannot tell you how amazing it is to wake up in the jungle with a view of the Caribbean and St. Thomas in the distance. Place was small, but that was expected. Property owner was great, very attentive to all our needs.

Relaxing vacation

The reviews are all accurate. Michael is extremely kind and flexible. You have everything you need for a relaxing vacation and the location is wonderful. To ensure a great time, be sure to rent a JEEP. We were hesitant but it will make your trip much better as the roads to many areas are loaded with potholes. It is a very pretty island and then you will be able to fully take advantage of all that is available.

Barbara and Michael moved to St. Croix in 1997 where they met at the local dive shop. They moved onto the property in 1998 and rented one of the units. After gettin hitched in 2001 they purchased the property and moved to the main house and started renting out the rest of the units. Barbara is a talented artist and has spent most of her time adding to the beauty of the island by painting over 150 murals and hundreds of original paintings. Michael is a Jack of all trades specializing as a 100 ton USCG licensed charter boat captain, property manager, video photographer, and Barbara's sherpa. They live on the property with their two amazing boys and three dogs.

This property is unique because it is on one of the highest elevations on St. Croix. It is nestled in the rain forest and overlooks the North Shore and Northern Leeward Islands. On a clear day you can see St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, and Jost Van Dyke. The interior is decorated with Barbara's amazing art work. The property is on the mountain above five restaurants each having its own unique menu. The cottage is just 5 minutes away from the amazing Cane Bay Beach. The diving and snorkeling is spectacular with a 3200' wall just 100 yards from shore. Two beach bars with great foos and a full service dive shop are right across the street from the beach.

Michael has worked in the tourism industry on St. Croix for twenty two years. When it comes to making guests feel welcome, he has skills. Eight years as a bartender, he can teach you numerous drinks you can easily create and recipes to take home to share. He is a retired PADI dive instructor with over 5000 dive on St, Croix alone. If you are a diver or want to try it, his knowledge of the dive shops and dive sites is unparalleled. He currently works as a captain for Big Beards Adventure tours which is rated as the number one thing to do on St. Croix on Trip Advisor.
