Perfect Beach Getaway

We love the Emerald Coast and our recent visit was no exception. The property at Tidewater Beach Resort was perfect. The location, friendly staff, and cleanliness made our stay very enjoyable.

Needs updated furnitures and other updates

Overall, our stay was satisfactory, but there were a few areas for improvement. The building could benefit from newer furniture and a fresh coat of paint. On the positive side, the view was truly spectacular. However, we were disappointed to have to pay extra for sun chairs and an umbrella.The owner was very responsive, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, we encountered an issue with the sofa bed that couldn’t be fully closed, despite someone being sent to fix it. Additionally, the pots and pans were scratched, but the owner promptly replaced them the next day, which was great.If the property undergoes some updates, I would consider a higher rating. As it stands, I would give it 3 to 4 stars.

Getting in is the easy part

The hotel runs the elevators for the most part of the day, which makes getting an elevator very hard, on average 45 minutes, due to the workers focused on getting new arrivals to their floor. If you're not on a floor where they are dropping off, you're left waiting. The patio door takes either one very strong person or 2 people to open it. Beautiful views and beach proximity.

Disappointed

I wish I could leave a great review but unfortunately that was not our experience. The tidewater resort itself was pretty gross. The pools were not clean, there was hair everywhere, the elevators always took FOREVER. The condo was also a big let down. There was ONE couch to sit on in the condo for our family of 6 so sitting in the living room to watch tv was impossible. There was a broken chair in the corner that couldn’t even be used. The microwave did not have a plate in it to set things on. The door to the balcony was so hard to open only my husband could do it. The one couch in the living room was covered in stains so we had to buy a flat sheet to drape across it to sit on. I really wish we had a better experience but we will definitely not be returning to this resort.

Family review

The condo was not very clean when we arrived. The sheets were dirty in a guest room and hair was in one of the showers. I did not report to the owner, I was honestly just busy with the family and forgot. We just took care of the cleaning our self. Other than that the condo was very nice. The views were incredible and everyone was very nice. The one thing that drove us crazy every day was the elevators. When you stay in a large condo there always seems to be a wait to get on an elevator, but this one seemed longer than average wait times the majority of the time.

Sliding glass door didn't slide

The elevators were an issue since day one. Many elevators down taking the remain ones forever to pick you up. When we got to the room the slidimg glass door was extremely hard to open. The girls in the group couldn't even open it. Basically the strongest male had ro open and close the door the entire 5 day stay. This is a extreme safety hazard!!

Some issues

At first glance upon arrival, the condo looked great. It was clean and the view was perfect. However, we discovered over our stay that the place needed a little work. The key pad on the door half of the time didn't work correctly and we had to put our passcode in several times to get the door to open. The hairdryer in one of the bathrooms didn't work. The ice maker made ice, but would dispense out the door of the refrigerator. One of the chair in the livingroom area was broken. One of the chairs on the balcony was dry rotten. There are other little odd and in things too that looked to have been pieced back together. The other issue isn't the fault of the condo owner, just Tidewater. The elevators were horrible! They were constantly doing maintenance on them, and the wait times were crazy! The long wait times were mostly between 8am-10am and 4pm-7pm. There were several times we just walked down 17 flights of stairs because of the wait times. We did get stuck on the 5th floor of the parking deck for a little while because the elevators were messing up. (The stairs weren't an option at the time because we had a loaded luggage cart.)

The property was sticky (floors and surfaces) upon arrival. It’s also dated / worn and very difficult to navigate with the elevators v number of units. It worked for the week of baseball, but I would recommend it.

Nice family vacation

The owners were very accommodating and the unit was clean upon arrival. However, the condo was not as aesthetically pleasing as it was in the pictures and the beds did not have comforters, just the sheets. Overall, it was a good vacation that created lots of fun memories.

Fantastic Amenities, Room Moderate Condition

They had lots of things to do for the kids and the location was good. The room had some issues with furniture though. Living room table and some chair felt like they were a few seconds away from falling apart. The wifi hardly worked. We had an issue with the hairdryer, but the owner was very good at responding and getting it replaced for us. As long as you avoid the elevators from 8am to 11am and 2pm to 5 or 6pm the wait wasn’t too long. 😩

Nice condo

Check in was fast and easy. Staff very friendly. A lot of other guests reported slow elevator times but we never had a long wait. Of course they were doing some normal post peak season upgrades, but it wasn't an issue at all. There is road construction at and near the location, but again it caused no issues. Pools were clean, arcade area was fun, it is a little small though. My only real complaint is that there was no "included" or even discounted beach chairs/umbrellas from Tidewater. Especially since we didn't drive, so we couldn't bring our own on the airplane.

The elevators were terrible. The master bathroom toilet lid was messed up, sinks in all bathrooms didn’t drain, there was a bad odor when door to washer opened and filtered out so when coming in there was a smell. Overall wasn’t a bad stay. We stayed with three other families and ours was the only condo that needs updating

Beautiful location

This property was very nice! Spacious they was 6 of us and we had plenty of room. The beds we comfortable and the view was great! The only complaint I have is the elevator wait time! Anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes for the elevator.

Great beach!

The property was in a great location. Our room had a bad fish smell when we arrived but the property managers helped us out by giving us so OdoBan. Elevator wait time is ridiculous on check-in and check-out days. During the week they are still a little slow. Pool was very dirty. I never saw anyone cleaning it while there.

Good Place to Relax!

Tidewater is in a good location for our family vacations and it has numerous amenities we enjoy. The check in process was easy, but getting to the room was a bit arduous. The wait for elevators was the worst I have ever experienced and I was told it was possibly due to programming errors with the elevators.(hopefully something that is quickly remedied) This is no way reflects on the owners of this condo, just something to know. The condo is nice and clean and had the items we needed for our stay. It was about what I expected it to be, no more and no less. We had a very pleasant stay at this property!

Poor Check-in Communication

Before the day of our stay I emailed the owners to see how I would be notified for the code to the door of the unit upon our arrival. Owners said that it would come via VRBO. When we arrived VRBO was down--so no code. That was not good and not acceptable. The check in attendants helped us thankfully. (The code arrived via VRBO at 1:30 A.M. the next day.)

Girls Trip

Great location, place and resort themselves have a few hiccups just to maybe be aware of. But not enough to overshadow the positives Positives: right on beach and ramp down to beach has hoses/showers for guest to use to wash sand off before going back to rooms/pool etc The number of pools on the property was nice. One pool has tiki bar at it so was was a nice perk to have when they were open. Having three bathrooms in the unit was great. The balcony view was very nice for sunsets and enjoying coffee in the morning The door is keypad entry so no worrying about loosing a key. Resort has covered area where you can wait for ride pick ups. Also not too far from Pier park. We were four adults so had no problem walking on the side of the road back and forth from it. Only about half a mile Negatives we experienced: Check in was a little confusing on what emails/ pre registration paperwork, and proof was needed. Owner sent lots of information in different emails the few days before and that day. We had pre registered and did everything ahead of time that was suggested and when we got there with the printed pre registration paperwork that resort said to bring they didn't even look at that and wanted proof of all the different messages i had been sent. When arriving and not having wifi set up yet and not having the app ahead of time due to space on phone, it made check in a little frustration and confusing. The staff member also was not very nice when i was trying to ask for more clarification on what she wanted and need to prove we were okay to check in The kitchen is a little scarce on certain supplies. If more then 4 people staying here you may need to grab paper/plates silverware and bowls. They were very limited. We also had a few small cleaning issues upon arrival. (a few blood droplets on a kitchen cabinet, dried makeup on one of the toilets, sand in between the one beds blankets) Trying to avoid a hassle we just took our disinfectant wipes we brought and took care of . However i think its good for people to know they may want to bring some themselves to be safe. Lastly, the elevators can be slow as others have mentioned. You never really know if it will be 10 minutes or 10 seconds for an elevator so just be prepared.
