Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This rental is in an ideal location...only steps from the beach and a short walk to the local shops & restaurants. The house is well equipped and we didn't need anything else for the week. The bedrooms are each roomy and bedding is comfortable. Having rented here several times before it's nice to see the improvements & updates. The pool is a perfect size but needs a little TLC. We would definitely rent again!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Rental process is good. However, house was not as clean as should have been. Hair balls in the downstairs master. Floors not clean. Pool was dirty and needs to be cleaned. Cleaning crew was there at 4-5 why we were trying to arrive. Really just felt like house was not cleaned completely and just linens changed and towels washed. Bathrooms looked ok. The property is showing wear. It is a great price for the amount of bedrooms. Could use some updating and a deep clean.

Island Girl--Year 6

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 6th year staying here and for the first time we felt that the house needed some TLC. We arrived to a kitchen that was not properly cleaned with crumbs all over the counters. The shelves in the fridge are broken or missing, making it very difficult to store a lot of food. There were towels and bath mats still in the washer, soaking wet. The worst was that three of the beds were full of sand and one had blood stains on the sheets. We needed to change all of the beds ourselves and wash all of the removed sheets. There was also a constant power surge every five minutes or so that caused all of the lights in the house to dim. I think it was in connection to the pool pump, but I'm not sure. The pool itself was not clean either as there was a tone of sand in it. While the AC works, it does not properly cool the upstairs bedroom or the middle bedroom and those rooms were consistently warm at night (this has been an ongoing problem for years). Unfortunately, we were at the home for Hurricane Elsa this year. The road became extremely flooded which caused a foot and a half of water to flood the garage area. Of course, this was an act of nature, but something should be done to level the area so that the standing water doesn't cause further damage.We love the location of the Island Girl and the setup is great for our family. But with the new rate increase, we are hoping that these issues can be rectified. We would still recommend the property, but some work definitely needs to be done.

Home Away From Home

My 7 1/2 year old thinks we own the house. We have been staying there since he was a baby. I tell him he owns it a week at a time!

Prime Island Location!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Captiva for over 20 years. This was our first time renting Island Girl and we loved that it was only 2 houses from the beach! It really made it easy to carry things to the beach. There is a good selection of beach chairs, umbrellas, pool floats and towels available for your use. The house has a large covered pool but the outside lounging and eating areas are a bit small. The house was clean when we arrived and the AC worked exceptionally well. We liked that there were 2 king bedrooms with on-suite baths, however one of those bedrooms did not have a closet. There is a pack & play stored in the twin bedroom closet for guests traveling with infants. If you are going to need to check in with your office while vacationing or if your kids play games on their iPads, please note that the wifi connection/speed at this house is not the best; very slow download and dropped connections were very frustrating! We have not found this to be the case at other houses we have rented on Captiva in the past. I also was quite surprised & disappointed to see trash under the front porch; this is not typical at other houses we have rented from American Realty. Overall, our family had a great time relaxing on Captiva and a comfortable stay at Island Girl

2020 Christmas week on Captiva in Island Girl

Is not the fanciest house, a little dated but with 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths it was very comfortable. Internet and TV reception was bad but I think most of that has to do with Captiva in general. It was great to have hot tub and pool but the hot tub could have been a little hotter. Proximity to the beach was excellent, 1 minute walk! We would rent again but would ask if we could get better TV and internet connection.

Reviewer Comments: We actually rented a different house and then had to change to Island Girl because of repairs being made to the original rental. The house is not in good repair, it wasn't super clean, and had some maintenance issues. The pool was nice but wasn't clean (the pool company showed up as we were checking out). The size of the house was nice, and the laundry area was great as well as the location to the beach. I wouldn't stay in this house again until some major issue (rotting wood, sagging doors to the outside, and possibly electrical issues)

2nd time staying here and we LOVE this house.

The bedroom configurations were perfect for us with plenty of space to be together or have your own space. Kitchen is well equipped & have used the gas grill both visits. Having the pool & patio enclosed was a plus. House was spotless & conveniently located, close to beach & village shops & restaurants. Def recommend to friends. Property management has been pleasant & easy to deal with. We have already booked again for next year!
