Amazing Beach Getaway

Everything about this place was amazing! Views were great and the beach is right out your back door. The property manager (Terry) is great about providing valuable information to make life easy during your stay. Absolutely will come back and would highly recommend to others.

Amazing Holiday Destination

My family converged to the island from four states. We played, we walked, we shared, we ate, we laughed during our stay. The house had its own character and we felt at home. This was a much needed restful escape from out very stressful lives.

Absolutely Wonderful

My husband and I enjoyed every part of this adventure! The quiet, beautiful, peacefulness was just what we hoped for. And the highlight was getting to meet Buddy!🥰 Would defiantly come again!!!

Old Florida Charm

We have been coming to the island for 15 years and this is the best place we've stayed. Full of charm from the previous owners with mementos and antiques as the decor. Don't expect perfection, but do plan to fall in love with the character of this house.We have already made our reservations for next year.

The perfect vacation !!

Coconut Hideaway was absolutely fabulous! The house is filled with really cool decor. The kitchen has everything you need. The view from every window is wonderful. We were able to completely relax and enjoy our week. We found beautiful shells on the beach, watched the sunset every night and relaxed in a hammock on the porch.

Family of 6

Our family got to experience a little slice of heaven on this quaint breath taking island. It was the most peaceful relaxing vacation we have ever taken. We actually shopped for a vacation home while we their because we feel in love with the setting and people that live there. I can't think of a better way to have spent the new year. I miss the home on the ocean already! We will be back.

Many people fall in love with the island after their first visit! We have friends who arrived on the island at 9 am and were looking at property by Noon. Within a month, they were neighbors! The island has a way of working its magic on many who visit!

This is our second time staying in the Gaines Home. Our son recently graduated from College and the only thing he asked for was a week at Coconut Hideway! Well, that was just fine with us...we LOVE it there! Everything about this home is perfect!! Location, decor, fishing, sunset, beach, the list goes on and on! A Million Thanks! Paradise perfected

My boyfriend and I spent four glorious days at this beautiful beach house. It is perfectly located and was just steps from the beach. The home itself was lovely and beautifully furnished and met all our needs. Everything we needed to know about the house and activities on the Island were well explained and easy to understand. We enjoyed looking at the art and antiques inside the home and the view from the deck was a perfect way to wake up each morning. There's nothing like having your morning coffee while facing white sands and blue waves. We spent most of our day at the beach searching for shells, swimming and enjoying the weather. Unlike other beaches, this one was peaceful and private. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing vacation.

Gasparilla Paradise!

Stayed here w/ my family which includes a 6 month old. It was such an easy trip! Didn't need to mess w/ the stroller or pack n play on the plane - we didn't need the stroller all week and this rental has a pack n play. The water was like bath water and the waves were so calm, the baby loved it! The breeze was cool by the beach, so baby could stay out all day back n forth between the water and on a blanket under an umbrella in the shade. The beach was also not crowded at all! The house has all the conveniences of home and is tastefully decorated with unique antiques. Very comfortable. It was a great week!

Dear Vrbo Support,I am submitting a formal complaint regarding our recent stay at a Vrbo property and requesting immediate review and follow-up.At the time of booking, we fully disclosed that we would be traveling with two dogs and paid the required pet fees for both animals. At no time before arrival were we informed of any HOA pet restrictions, prohibited breed lists, or limitations that would affect our stay. We entered into this reservation in good faith based on the information provided in the listing.During our stay, an incident occurred on the beach involving another individual and his off-leash dog. Our dogs ran toward the other dog and were immediately called back. There was no bite, injury, or physical contact. Despite this, the individual filed a complaint with the HOA and made exaggerated accusations about our dogs’ behavior.Following this complaint, individuals identifying themselves as HOA representatives have repeatedly come to the property over the past three days, telling members of our family that police and animal control were coming and that we needed to leave immediately. This repeated intimidation and harassment caused significant stress and emotional distress to my family throughout our stay.We have felt unsafe, unwelcome, and continuously pressured despite complying with the booking terms and paying all required pet fees. If HOA restrictions existed that would have prevented our dogs from being allowed, those restrictions should have been dis

PARADISE AND THEN SOME!

Honestly, having booked Coconut Hideaway many months in advance provided me ample opportunity to read all the reviews and do all sorts of research about the island, surrounding area, and the house itself-all part of the fun and anticipation! So that said, when I finally arrived with my family I almost felt like I had already been there before, but this place totally lived up to my expectations and so much more. I could go on and on about what an amazing retreat Buddy and Laurie have spent years of their lives developing but one only needs to read all of the favorable reviews, It's all been said in so many ways when describing the beauty and uniqueness of this special place. It really is hard to put into words just how cool of an experience it is to stay here, you really have to actually experience it to fully understand. If what you are looking for is an extremely unique vacation experience-possibly like none you have ever had, and want nothing more than to unplug and relax then this is the place. If you are looking for beach bars, night clubs, and commercial attractions then maybe you might think about that before you consider an island vacation. For me and my family this was heaven on an island beach! With all of the dedication that has gone into creating this very special place, this is so much more than just another run-of-the-mill vacation rental to Buddy and Laurie, this is their home. You have to spend some time here surrounded by all that has gone into this place to grasp it...to feel it-and you do feel it. So thanks so much for letting us enjoy your home away from home! My only regret is the same expressed by so many others...I only wish we could have stayed longer! Next time!

Old vintage beach cottage

I am a professional interior designer in Atlanta for many years. So what others might feel is old, cluttered, and a little in disrepair, We found charming. The owners obviously were collectors for many years, two of the bedrooms were nice with comfortable beds. Loved the porches and listening to the crashing of waves . The house was beachfront so we could enjoy sunsets from our porch . Lovely and relaxing. That being said, the home could use some attention.

Quiet regroup

A little confusing directions on getting to the island and after that all we really enjoyed our very chill stay! The home was eclectically decorated which made for a relaxed and comfortable stay. The internet was hit or miss, thus it was very good that we had great cell phone coverage. My only complaint is that there wasn’t a good coffee maker to be found. It was the perfect spot to unwind from our way too hectic lives. Thank you!!

I am sorry you had an issue with the coffee maker. We have both a Keurig that sits right on the kitchen counter and a regular drip-style coffee maker that we keep in the pantry for those who are not fond of K-cups. In the future you can always contact our Guest Services Manager and she can tell you where it is or rustle up a spare for you! Unfortunately, internet on the island is always hit or miss....everyone on the island is eagerly awaiting a better option!

Fantastic Property!

The ocean is just steps away, with an amazing outdoor shower. This place has thought of pretty much everything that you could want, the little touches are totally there. The pantry and amenities in the house are amazing! The ocean had a few waves and when there weren't waves it was so incredibly clear. So many shells and shark teeth to find as well! There is also a small tie-up right off the beach for a kayak which was super fun as a water base station for the little ones. The maintenance staff is amazing, I mentioned that one of the steps was a little loose and they fixed it right then. The only two things that I wish I had known is that all of the stairs in the house are slot style- just a little scary for little ones (but they do have a gate provided). The path that you have on the property to get to the beach is a communal path, and the maintenance staff headwaters is under the house - so there are people and off limits spaces under the house. It also means that sometimes you do not get a beach space right in front of the house you rented. I want to stress it wasn't bad- just something I would have preferred to know.

Our location adjacent to deeded beach access does mean that the beach pathway gets more use than a private boardwalk. We found that we enjoy seeing neighbors and visitors go back and forth to the beach....and while the beach is private property to the high water line, that is seldom enforced by beachfront property owners. So if the beach is crowded, we just move 50 ft. in one direction or the other and there is always plenty of room! We will try to clarify this better in our communications!

Absolutely Whimsical

Our stay at Coconut Hideaway did not disappoint. Let me start by saying this house is older, but do NOT let this deter you. It has so much character, charm, so many many stories to tell; you can just feel the love that has filled this place. There are trinkets from all over the world, just an amazingly unique touch. If that wasn't enough it also emits a warm and cozy ambiance, you will seriously feel as if you are visiting friends or family, the house is so inviting. The hard wood floors are absolutely beautiful and the high vaulted wood ceiling and beams are gorgeous. It is situated steps away from the beach with plenty of outdoor lounging areas to pick from. The beach has community chairs and even coming at the end of May most days in the afternoon we had the beach pretty much to ourselves. Little Gasparilla Island is definitely a hidden gem. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your little slice of Heaven.

Heaven on earth

Our family has stayed at this property many times. Each time we come back we can’t wait to hang out on the out door porch overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and enjoy the peace and quite and beauty of this island. This house is AMAZING and feels like home. I highly recommend this home. You will get hooked on the charm of Little Gasparilla and return. We always enjoy our island stay!

The view and location of this home is the great with it being ocean front. Getting up in the morning and sitting on the screened-in porch with a fresh cup of coffee listening to the ocean is the best! The cleanliness of the home was not good, we had to clean before fully moving in. The deck rails are not safe at all! We probably will not choose to stay at this home again with our small grandchildren.
