Wortham House är ett gotiskt vagnshus runt 1823 (det äldsta i denna stil i Charleston och USA) beläget i centrum av ett stadsblock bakom en privat bostad 1804 i centrala Charleston. Båda fastigheterna finns i det nationella register över historiska platser.

Wortham House har tre sovrum på andra våningen med vardera två enkelsängar (varav ett kan omvandlas till en kung), platt-TV och fullt privata badrum. Huset rymmer 6 vuxna. Hushyra avgörs av antalet hyrda sovrum. Man kan välja ett, två eller tre sovrum. Sovrum som inte hyrs är stängda och försäkrar uteslutning av personer som är okända för dig. På första våningen finns en stor, smakfullt möblerad lounge perfekt för morgonläsning med kaffe och eftermiddagscocktails. Ett pulverrum ligger intill loungen. En middag i köket i sex är också intill loungen när frukosten serveras fram till 9.00. I köket finns kylskåp, ugn och mikrovågsugn för uppvärmning av mat till huset. Tyvärr tillåts inte matlagning per se av staden Charleston.

Wortham House är omgivet av prisbelönta trädgårdar som publiceras i flera tidskrifter och böcker. Det har senast erkänts av Smithsonian Archives of American Gardens och Garden Conservatory of America's Best 25 trädgårdar i U. S. Utrymme i trädgården finns att äta. Av gatuparkering för 2-3 bilar ingår i trädgården.

Vi tillåter inte husdjur, barn under 18 år eller matlagning på plats. Även om din frukost ingår i din ränta. Hela fastigheten är rökfri, inklusive uppfarten och trädgården. Flera nivåförändringar i den gamla byggnaden och trädgården gör det olämpligt för dem som är ostadiga på fötterna. Inga extrasängar finns också.

Beautiful home and gardens!

We absolutely loved our stay. The home and gardens are exactly as described and shown in photos. The daily breakfast was amazing and made our trip so easy. We were a group of 6 for a girls birthday weekend and it was a perfect home for us. We would stay here again!

Absolutely Charming

The moment we pulled up to the driveway.. we were greeted by our gracious host, Betsy! She was so incredibly sweet and full of information. She showed us around the grounds and gave us a brief history about the property.. how she and her husband transformed it into a storybook abode. The Carriage house and garden were so inviting down to the last detail. We loved it so much.. our only regret was that we didn’t spend more time there. We can’t wait to go back!!!!

Best Rental Ever!

We came to Charleston for a family wedding with our 3 adult children. The wedding was great but the experience at Wortham house made our entire trip one of the most memorable we have had. Every detail from the Southern hospitality to the Lucious gardens and charming antiques made our trip unforgettable. Our hostess Betsy has not missed a detail in supplying the home and made us all feel very comfortable.

Charleston Hospitality

Our stay was Charleston hospitality at its finest. This property was even more lovely than described. Each bedroom and bath was appointed in beautiful Charleston style. The beds were comfortable and had the softest sheets ever. The entire home was impeccably clean. Bathrooms were refreshed daily. Our hostess was a charming Charleston lady who brought breakfast each day, shared stories with a sense of humor and grace and made us feel welcome like family. The gardens were thoughtfully laid out and neatly maintained. We all highly recommend Wortham House.lovely than described.

Southern Charm at it’s Finest

From the moment we decided to come to Betsy’s home for our girl’s weekend to our arrival, it was truly a wonderful experience. The gardens, home itself, cleanliness of everything, full breakfasts and willingness to adapt to my one friend’s dietary needs and to share insights about the home and Charleston, was above and beyond. The location is perfect — loved being in a neighborhood, yet close enough to walk to King Street and more. We all would come back in a heart beat, and absolutely stay here again. Wortham Carriage House is exactly as you see it online! Beautiful historic Carriage House that does not disappoint. The "gardens" are absolutely stunning reflecting the award winning recognition they have received over the years. The house is exquisite...only to be matched by the hospitality and kindness of the Owner who went over and above to accommodate all of our wishes to make our stay more comfortable...Betsy Johnson! A true Charleston gem! Gene & Betsy seem unassuming but…LOL

My wife and I were in the area for one week. The first 4 days for the Charleston Festival. The remainder, a beach stay at Folly Beach. We had 5 home/garden tours lined up. The problem was that Gene/Betsy’s carriage house & gardens were far nicer than ANY of those on the tours. A truly spectacular place! The carriage house was such a beautiful spot to stay and come home to each day. Betsy bringing breakfast each morning was absolutely delightful.It wasn’t until the second portion of our trip when we left their property and stayed at another vacation rental in Folly did we uncover Gene & Betsy’s dark plot to be such great hosts and cause us to miss them and their gorgeous house/gardens. Thus making a return to visit them in the future inevitable. Devious, Gene & Betsy! Devious!

Best VRBO ever!

From the time we arrived to the time we left we felt like we were living in another time in history. Betsy treated us like royalty taking care of our every need! Her breakfasts were amazing and the attention to detail surpassed our expectations. Betsy takes southern hospitality to an entirely new level. The gardens around the carriage house are the icing on the cake! Absolutely stunning! We have found the hidden Gem of Charleston! Now we know why people return again and again. Perfectly Splendid!

My friends and I wanted to experience the southern charm and history Charleston for a girls weekend. We are so glad we stayed at the Wortham House as a part of that experience! The house was beautiful and spacious, the gardens were breathtaking and Ms. Betsy was the perfect accommodating host. We especially enjoyed the breakfast provided. It was the perfect weekend and we only wished we had been able to stay longer!

Family Vacation

We had a wonderful stay at the Wortham house. Betsy brought a wonderful breakfast every morning and made sure we had everything we needed. She even helped with suggestions on activities, as this was our first trip to Charleston. We would definitely recommend this property! Betsy will make you feel like family.

Family Holiday Get-a-Way

Wonderful and special experience

This Vrbo is quite unique as a beautiful carriage house ands manicured garden situated behind the main house. Betsy our house mgr brought hot breakfast each morning and attended to our every need. Beautiful antiques and a very special home.
