Well appointed condo with a significant amount of extras that were appreciated (i.e. cooler, beach chairs, umbrella, yoga mats, etc.). Kitchen is well equipped from storage containers to appropriate pool vs. indoor dishware.

Lovely Unit

Lori and Jay’s lovely unit is one of the best short term rentals we have ever stayed in! Spotlessly clean and equipped with absolutely anything you could need or want! Large spacious lanai with a gorgeous view. Split AC keeps both the bedroom and living room cool. Close walk to multiple restaurants and shops. Very responsive hosts. We loved the Big Island and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Absolute Perfection!

Everything from start to finish was perfect. Lori is a friendly and communicative property owner, her pride in ownership is reflected in every aspect of this condo. The. Condo is in a lovely area which is walkable to the main drag, it has a beautiful ocean view and it is absolutely spotless. We loved the pool area. We ran into a problem with our Hilo rental and Lori was wonderful in helping us with an early check in. Totally recommend this beautiful slice of paradise, w will definitely return since we visit Hawaii every year. Mahalo!

Perfect Place in Paradise

The location was perfect. It’s a short walk into town with plenty of restaurants and shops. Loved the view from the lanai and the sunsets. The condo felt just like home. Love the Sound

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kona Reef. The unit had a great view right on the water. Liked sitting out on the Lanai and listening to the sound of the ocean. Unit was fully equipped with anything you could need. Lori was a gracious host and kept us advised of maintenance/management folks who might drop by. Location is very convenient to several good bars/restaurants. highly recommended. .

Amazing

We had a vacation of a lifetime. Lori & Jay have a beautiful condo. The location is the best. The condo is beautiful with all the comforts of home & them some. They have every detail covered. We arrived to a happy birthday balloon & card & bottle of champagne. We were celebrating one of my friends birthdays. They are so kind, easy to work with & made sure the condo was perfect. A little piece of Heaven in Kona

This condo was fully stocked and super clean. Other than grabbing food items for snacks and meals, we had everything we needed. Kitchen and bathroom! The bathroom had soft towels, shamp/cond/soap dispenser in the shower and all the extras to make you feel at home. Easily accessible and clean snorkle gear and boogie boards. We spent most of our time exploring the island but when we were home we spent our time on the lanai. Amazing view of the ocean. We enjoyed hearing the blowing of conch shells at sunset. The location is great as well. Walking distance to the boardwalk on Ali'i Dr where all the restaurants and shops are. Very fun area at night! Cant say enough about how efficient Lori was with keeping us updated on our arrival. We didnt have to "check in" we were able to just go straight to the condo and follow the instructions on how to get in. Jay and Lori, thank you so much for opening your amazing home. We had an unforgettable time! Aloha for now!!

The most professional HQ vacation rental ever !!!

Let me say that in reviewing things on the Internet that I try to be a tough grader. You really have to deliver to get five stars. Well, this place and hosts deliver! First of all, every decision they make in terms of what to include and what quality to go with is top notch. I have never been at a better stocked vacation rental ever. There's a full set of herbs (pic 32), every tool you could need, a half pound of Kona coffee, a snack basket, all LG appliances, a Sleep Number bed (!!), and pic 18 sums it up for me - easy to access and copious high quality soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower. There are two boogie boards, snorkeling gear, Tommy Bahama chairs, and a beach umbrella, four HQ metal water bottles: all great tools for a fabulous beach experience. All of the pictures in the listing are completely fair - no exaggeration there. What you can't tell from the listing is that the location is perfect... walking distance from the downtown Kona strip, but just far enough to not have the feeling of crowds. Now just to keep your expectations realistic, remember this is not a posh resort charging you for the lap of luxury. It's a condo complex that looks fine but not particularly special from the outside. You can get to a sandy beach to the left of the place, but that probably isn't where you'll be hanging out. The pool is kind of small, but the courtyard is nice because the outdoor grills (4) are pretty sweet, and there's a sitting/dining area under a roof. But you're not coming to the big island to stay put... this is all you need to feel taken care of and special. My wife is extremely picky and was on my case for not going with a resort on this trip, but in the first day she was convinced this was the right move. If we come back to the big island, this is where she wants to stay. Host Lori is very responsive and has professionals working for her if someone needs to show up. She was also forgiving of the fact that I didn't realize I had to make the second payment manually on VRBO and gave me a call.

Paradise with a view

Everything was wonderful. Lori and Jay are excellent hosts. Their unit was clean and comfortable and they supplied everything you would need for a wonderful and relaxed vacation. It was located for an easy walk to town for shopping, eating and drinking. Parking included, we rented a car and went sight seeing and the unit felt like home after a long day of adventures. The bed was luxurious and we had no trouble adjusting to the time change. Thanks again for making our 30th anniversary a dream come true. Aloha

Beautiful stay at a quiet resort property.

We had a lovely stay at the Kona Reef. The condo’s washer and dryer (and included soap) were helpful in keeping our suits and towels from getting musty. We had breakfast on the lanai every morning and loved watching the surfers and boogie borders. The location was perfect - far enough away to be quiet, close enough to Kona for easy access to restaurants and shopping. My only comment is that the paperwork you receive is pretty adamant about not getting sand in the condo. As a big beach goer, that part left me a little nervous. Sand in female swimsuits is an inevitability when you’re body surfing. There is a hose and shower at the pool to get visible sand, but there was this added layer of stress to get as much sand off as me as possible. In the end, I think we did okay, but it might be a hard thing to do with a child.

Fantastic unit, Fantastic location

The unit was beautifully and comfortable furnished and had everything we needed and then some. The views from the balcony were amazing with whale sightings almost every day. The location was great. Just a few blocks from too many bars and restaurants to count. The beach chairs, cooler and boogie boards were perfect. The owners were great to deal with and we highly recommend this property!
