What strikes you when you arrive at our house in Amorgos is its magnificent and grandiose panorama. From its terraces, you can admire the Aegean Sea and the island of Naxos, the beach of Aegali, the villages of Tholaria and Stroumbos, a valley of olive trees, the hills and their ancestral terraces, as well as the small white chapels that the islanders maintain with care. It is a summary of the Cyclades, combining sea and mountains, nature and human works.
Lovers of these islands, we wanted our house to be a tribute to Cycladic traditions: limed walls, blue doors and windows, terraces, bougainvilleas, jars, pergolas, handicrafts. We have designed it as a family home, open and warm, comfortable and beautiful, with 4 independent bedrooms, a large living room and several terraces. An ideal starting point to discover the riches of the island of Amorgos, it is a haven of peace where people like to gather around a few olives and an ouzo while admiring the sunset.
Our house is located on the edge of the village of Lakgada, clinging to the mountain and overlooking the olive groves that descend to the sea, Lakgada is a miracle with its white houses, its maze of alleys, its churches, its small grocery stores, its taverns and its cafenions where you can play backgammon while sipping a raki. The only means of transport allowed in Lagkada are mules carrying provisions and bags of lime. Cars are prohibited and stored in a car park located 5 minutes from the house. Aegali's beautiful sandy beach is located 1 kilometre as the crow flies and can be reached either by road or by several paths winding between olive groves.
Finally, we need to talk to you about Amorgos. Exclusively served by ferry, this island between Naxos and Santorini is spared from the mass tourism that affects the main Cycladic islands. It has kept its authenticity and charm.
