Hawks boet är en fint utformad litet hem med ett perfekt läge på privat egendom innanför gränserna för USA Virgin Islands National Park och inom gångavstånd från fem olika stränder. North Shore stränder Hawksnest, Gibney, Denis, Jumbie och Trunk Bay ligger alla inom en 10-20 minuters gångavstånd. För mer aktivitet, tennisbanor, spa, stränder och restauranger i den världsberömda Caneel Bay Resort är också på North Shore, och Cruz Bay är en tio minuters bilresa.

Uppflugen bland träden 97-fot över Hawksnest Bay, ser hem över vattnet till Caneel Bay Resort och vidare västerut till solnedgången över St. Thomas och andra ut-öar. Njut av tre-sidig vy från greatroom att titta på fåglar flyga förbi under frukost. Koppla av efter en trevlig tid i trädgården bland inhemska träd och vilda orkidéer. Gå till en annan North Shore stranden varje dag! För en spektakulär solnedgång middag, njuta av fullängds täckt däck hemma. På kvällen går i pension till befälhavaren svit som inkluderar en king size-säng, ett rymligt vardagsrum, pulver rum och sten dusch utomhus.

Under sommaren och hösten 2016, kommer Hawks Nest genomgå betydande restaurering, i linje med dess Caribbean Cottage rötter. Ekologiskt orienterade arkitekten Doug White att se till att stugan behåller sin open air känsla, men skärmar kommer att kunna dras om det behövs. Gästerna kommer att njuta av ett nytt kök och badrum, spektakulära nya utomhus sten dusch, och utvidgas sovrum och däck.

The Hawks Nest läge ger gäster som tycker om promenader alternativet, och besparingar, för att inte vara tvungen att hyra en bil. Nationalparken vägen är en 3-minuters promenad nerför backen väg som leder från hemmet. Taxi-vans kör längs Park Road under dagen och kan ge en snabb hiss till Caneel Bay Resort eller en 10-minuters resa till staden Cruz Bay för fler restauranger val och unika galleri shopping. Vissa gäster väljer fortfarande att hyra en bil för att kunna lättare utforska ön, och, om så är fallet bör du reservera en liten 4-hjulsdrivna fordon på St. John.

5+ STAR PROPERTY

The absolute perfect place for 2 couples. Each has their own completely private space. The plunge pool had a beautiful sun umbrella with 4 lounge chairs where we also enjoyed viewing the stars, and St Thomas at night. The kitchen had everything we needed for creating beautiful meals: the grill was the bomb for the fresh yellowfin tuna we were able to get through our AMAZING hosts. Jennifer and Joey were there for our every need. They picked us up at the ferry dock, lead us to the house, showed us around and got us settled right away. The entire experience exceeded our expectations! Can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Spectacular

The property is literally perfect. I'm a builder, and I couldn't think of anything I would have done differently. My wife and I were there for a week on our honeymoon. Every detail of this remote, serene setting is perfect. Set above such a beautiful bay, the views are amazing. And at night, the only lights you'll see are the stars. Having this type of solitude with being so close to town (10 minutes) is ridiculous. Literally once you drive out of Cruz Bay, you enter the Virgin Islands Nat'l Park. And Polly's house is a mere 10 minute drive. Just go, as everyone says. Your expectations will be surpassed.

Hawksnest Heaven!

I honestly can't think of a single negative thing to say - From start to finish this place is absolute perfection! The pictures really don't do it justice, plus the hosts/property managers are extremely kind and attentive. The house is virtually spotless and stocked with just about everything you could need. In fact, we canceled all of our dinner reservations just to spend more soaking in all of the views! It truly was an amazing honeymoon, and we can easily say the house was the best part :)

Fall in Tropical Paradise

We made a spur of the moment trip to St. John in early October when other vacation plans fell through. How lucky we were that Hawksnest Cottage was available! The weather and water temps were sunny and warm. The island was welcoming and uncrowded, with ample restaurants open. And the home, owner and property manager ensured a dream trip. The cottage is beautifully constructed, with high quality finishes and furniture. Many thoughtful touches above and beyond the accurate and detailed listing description, such as beach umbrellas, reusable water bottles and gallons of purified drinking water, plus a well-stocked kitchen with even a knife sharpener. The cottage is completely private, screened, and is surrounded by beautiful landscaping and the sounds of nature. Location is perfect. Short drive to Cruz Bay and the lovely North Shore Beaches and trails. Amazing sunset views. Both the owner and Property Manager provided prompt and ample information and met our every need. Highly recommend this special property!

Incredible stay at Hawksnest

Spent Thanksgiving week in Hawksnest Cottage and it was incredible. The cottage is stunning, beautifully designed and equipped for everything. The views, the sunsets, the only sounds you hear are the waves crashing and the varied sounds of all the wildlife. We had great communication with the owners, and the property manager Jen was great, she knows her stuff and will make sure your time is well spent. What an amazing property and I am grateful I was able to experience it, St John and Hawksnest Cottage are a great way to detox from life for a bit. Highly recommend!!

Comfortable refuge

Admirable, thoughtful, recently finished rebuild of hurricane-damaged home. Great for quiet getaway if you don't want resort amenities or immediate town proximity (and don't mind wandering roosters). Easy drive to St. John beaches and trails, and as easy to rest in and read at the house while taking in great views.

Beautiful house, property and views!

My adult daughter and I stayed for 7 nights. We rented a jeep from Aqua Blue. It was a little tricky backing into the driveway but practice makes perfect. The pool was fabulous after a day on one of the beautiful north coast beaches. Sunsets on the pool deck were the best we’ve ever seen. Highly recommend this house!❤️

Fantastic cottage above Gibney Beach

We absolutely loved the stay - the house is perfectly set up, with attention to every detail and all you need for a relaxing beach vacation. Impeccably clean. Luxurious and low-key at the same time: exactly the way we love it. Secluded but within short drive to Cruz Bay town. The property manager is wonderful, proactive, and very knowledgable.

Privacy Perfection!

This was a special trip for us as we were celebrating my retirement from a 38 yr career as an ICU nurse. I almost cried while Joey was showing us around this spectacular home. While we didn't need her, Joey was available and awesome. We have stayed in some fabulous places but this place takes top prize. I am particular about clean and this place was spotless from window sills to corners. The sunset view from the plunge pool was spectacular and we loved the screened in porch where we had daily breakfast. The best beaches in our opinion were Denis and Gibney/Oppenheimer. Both were within walking distance from the house. We are grateful the owners share this home with others through VRBO. We can’t wait to return when I let my husband retire :) in 2026.

Best stay in St. John yet!

We love the location! Like living and sleeping in the jungle, but still only 10 minutes to Cruz Bay. We loved hiking down the trail from the house to Gibney Beach. The house was better than expected too. We were a group of 4, which was perfect sized house. The pool, the open air of the house and view was outstanding. And the top of the line kitchen had every thing we needed. Jen met us at the car ferry and she was very professional and totally friendly and easy to communicate with. We will stay again!

Dream Home

Hawksnest Cottage was an absolute dream! Like others have mentioned the pictures don’t do it justice. The home and view are stunning. The pool and lounge area were larger than we expected. The landscaping was gorgeous. We never even turned on a tv or music and instead just listened to the sounds of nature. The location was great, close to many beaches some even walkable. We took the trail down to the two close by beaches. It was only about a ten minute drive to town. The home was well equipped with everything you would need. There was even a welcome gift of fruit, snacks, and drinks when we arrived! The owner was great with communication and the property managers provided top notch support prior to and during the stay. They provided information on groceries, restaurants, local activities, and even helped us connect in order to set up in-home massages. They definitely went above and beyond! We hope to stay at Hawksnest Cottage again!

St John Splendor

A perfect stay in every way! My husband and I are retired “active-agers”. In choosing a VRBO, we look for comfort, space and beautiful surroundings and activities in the area. We loved Jumbie Beach the best…so close 10 min easy walk! The ease of driving to Cruz Bay for shopping/excursions…another plus. Jen met us after we did our grocery shopping and led the way and gave a tour. Everything was immaculate and so tastefully done… even some welcome goodies!! Prior to our arrival, the owner was in touch with us and answered any questions…we could not have had a better experience!

Little cabin that meet all your needs

We are a young couple who stayed in the cabin for 12 days and I have to say it was the best place to be vacationing at. The owners really put a lot of effort to make it look and feel like you are home. There is fully equipped kitchen with all basic utensils, pots, pans, even cheese grade (we did most of the cooking home, because dinning out is pretty expensive in St. John and the food is not that great). The few beaches can be accessed by food in 20-30 min, but we would suggest to get a car if you are interested in exploring other parts of the island such as the best snorkeling places (Waterlemon Cay, Francis Bay, Salt Pond Bay), Maho beach or some of the hiking trails. I am sort of bug sensitive, but the place was kept up so well that I had a minimal encounter of them... Not too bad when it comes down to mosquitoes or spiders. Over all, we had a wonderful vacation and we were very happy with our stay at this cabin. Thanks to its architecture we felt like we are 24x7 outdoors! It was a nice experience (slept like babies all the time :) ). Thank you for sharing your home!!

AMAZING!!

We spent two glorious weeks at Hawksnest Cottage and it was spectacular! The house was simply amazing and the views were second to none. We had everything we needed as the house was fully equipped. Jen Doran, the property manager was great! She met us at the boat, helped us to get our Jeep rental, and took us to the house. There was fruit, drinks and crackers for us to enjoy and she showed us around and gave us some great ideas of things to do, where to buy groceries and restaurants to dine. My favorite part of the house was lying in bed in the evening viewing St. Thomas lit up at night, and waking up and see beautiful Hawksnest Beach through the open bedroom doors leading out to the screened in porch. My second favorite part was the outdoor shower encased in beautiful stone with a view of Hawksnest Beach. My third favorite part was everything else! The outdoor pool and deck, beautiful landscaping, outdoor cooking area, the beautiful wood inside the house, and screened in dining room. This house, on the beautiful north side of the island with the most amazing beaches, was second to none and one of the most lovely places we have stayed for vacation. We will be coming back!

Wonderful getaway

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a week long stay at Hawksnest, a wonderful bungalow nestled up in the hills above Hawksnest Bay with a spectacular view of St.Thomas. At times, we felt like we were living in a treehouse in the canopy of a tropical forest with tree frogs, birds, butterflies, gekkos sharing the open air house. It was very private and secluded and was a 5 minute walk up from the Peace Hill parking area on the North Shore Road. We did not rent a car and were able to walk to Hawksnest, Oppenheimer, Jumbie, Denis beaches-- all magnificient, secluded beaches with great snorkeling, palm trees, and spectacular views. The taxis run pretty regularly from Cruz Bay along the North Shore Road but it is a nice hike/walk into Cruz Bay as well. We also spent a day at Honeymoon Beach, accessible via the Caneel Bay Resort and also an easy walk to the house. We cooked our own dinners almost every night on the awesome gas grill. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and was well furnished. We had very little problem with bugs and did not even use the mosquito net but we were there in July. If you are looking for an off the beaten path, private getaway then you will love this property. The owners were super helpful and responsive to all of our emails. The property management (Cimmaron) folks were also great to work with.

We bought the property in 2015 from the couple who first built the cottage mostly by hand themselves. We fell in love with Hawksnest immediately, because it so closely re-created our previous vacations at Maho Bay, one of the Caribbean's first eco resorts: spectacular views; walking distance to the island's most beautiful beaches; surrounded by national park. But the house needed TLC. After a season of renovations in 2016, the cottage was beautifully-restored, only to be almost destroyed by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Now, with irrational investments of time, money and love, Hawksnest Cottage has been fully restored again, welcoming guests who appreciate the beauty of the national park and the minimal environmental footprint of green design.
Hosting is hard work, for us and for our wonderful property managers, but we all enjoy making it possible for people to experience the beauty of St. John, sometimes for the first time and often as return guests. It gives us pleasure that Hawksnest Cottage is a place where people can mark special milestones in their lives, or simply rest, enjoy and appreciate.

Varför värden valde detta boende

We have travelled many places but there is something about St. John…it’s natural beauty protected because of the Virgin Islands National Park. The beaches are world class, the people friendly, the hiking trails varied, and the water so incredibly pleasant. When Maho Bay Camps closed, we thought we would return to St. John as renters, unless we found a small house surrounded by Park on the North Shore. Lo and behold….
Although we are not (yet) full time USVI residents, we've come back so often to this special place that it feels like home. To be able to own a simple but elegant place close to incredible beaches without a house in sight, yet near to town, is a dream come true.

You can rent a car if you like (most do), but we love the fact that you can walk to several beaches and that you can hop a shuttle to Cruz Bay so easily. Simple living... and a wonderful break from your normal routines.
