Kiddville var ett litet guldgruvläger i dagarna för uppgörelsen av Black Hills i slutet av 1800-talet!
Sedan övergavs det efter guldrushen.
Fritidshuset var ursprungligen pensionärens tvåstegsminnes pensionat. Pensionatet omvandlades sedan och omformades till ett blygsamt familjehem på 1930-talet, och fastigheten blev en privat 38 hektar stor bondgård / bondgård.
Och igen, 2007, var hemmet uppdaterat med nya VVS, matta, sängar, ...
Platsen är 9 miles NW av Custer.
Sex av dessa mil är välskött grus.
För motorcykelgäster är parkering tillgänglig nära motorvägen om gästerna har en bil för att sedan resa därifrån till hemmet.
På andra våningen i fritidshuset finns tre sovrum och badrummet. Bottenvåningen består av ett vardagsrum, kök, matsal, tvättstuga, veranda och litet solrum.
Två av sovrummen har queen size-sängar. Det tredje sovrummet har två enkelsängar.
Den ursprungliga homesteader / ranchers (mina morföräldrar) från 1930-talet bodde i huset i 75 år till 2007!
Hemmet ligger på 38 privatägda tunnland; inga andra bebodda bostäder. Ensamhet för dig!
Detta areal ligger i hjärtat av utmärkta National Forest hjort / kalkon / älg land. Det finns inga andra bebodda bostäder på 38 hektar stor egendom.
Ranch boskap kan hittas bete på några av de (inhägnade) arealen. Den fem tunnland gården värdar ingen boskap.
Historiska byggnader som ännu finns på fastigheten är ett gruvanalys kontor, vaktmästare hus, en lada / corral och stuga.

Peaceful and Quiet

Very private and comfy home. Kay was very easy to communicate with, she even stopped by to say hi. Kay told us the history of where she grew up, we really enjoyed her conservation.

Wonderful stay here

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and particularly appreciated the notes throughout the grounds about the history and family who built it. Staying here was like stepping back in time to experience an earlier lifestyle but without having to sacrifice modern conveniences. We certainly plan on visiting again and plan to book for a longer stay next time.

Country Lodgings

This is the second time Ive stayed at Kiddville Ranch because I love the seclusion and the history of the place. Youre not stuck inside but have 40 acres to walk. Its not fancy, but offerseverything you need.

Awesome Location!

We so enjoyed the space and exploration area this house gave us! Our kids and dogs loved hiking through the forest right outside the door and checking out all the historical buildings on the property. The well water took some getting use to, but other than that everything was great. We really enjoyed our stay!

Loved our stay!

My sisters and I enjoyed our vacation and this was a perfect place for us to stay. Kay our hostess was as nice as could be and very responsive with coming over to replace batteries in the tv remote. Loved the history of the place as it reminded us of our grandmothers house growing up. Loved coming back in the late afternoon to the peaceful and quiet valley after a day of excursions. The place was well stocked, clean with ample room for 4 adults. We will definitely book this place again if ever in the area again.

Wonderful vacation house!

We stayed here for 5 nights. Listing was very accurate, house was clean and ready for us! The property was peaceful- it was easy enough to get to town if you wanted but house had all the amenities we needed to cook and relax. It’s the perfect location for any of the Black Hills tourist attractions. We had no issues and owner was very responsive and pleasant when we called to check in. I would go back again and will recommend to family and friends.

Peace and tranquility

The property and house is amazing. It was so nice to come back to the house after a long day of exploring. My 19 yr old daughter kept saying that she wants to live there. Your stress, anxiety and life worries disappear. Patricia stopped by and she is adorable and so nice. It was truly the best vacation ever. so nice. Best vacation ever.so nice.

Weekend get away

Little get away

I gave it 5 stars and my three dogs would give it 5 paws or bones! It was great being away from everybody, but close to everything we wanted to do. The owners were easy to get ahold of and to talk too! I would definitely recommend this place to people visiting. If we ever get the chance to go back I will be booking it again. Always nice to find a place that doesn’t have a pet fee!!

Historical property

Able to have much needed rest and relaxation. Historic house has all amenities. Towns people are friendly. Shopping is good. Other more busy towns are 15-30 minute drives. Outdoor beauty is everywhere.

Lovely Little Stay

We booked this property for our "wild west" vacation. I chose it because I knew my family would enjoy the history and setting. It didn't disappoint. The property is old and unique. We appreciated the book of information on the history and the pictures. We found it a very sweet story. It is a little off the beaten path, but we were able to do all of the things we wanted in SD and this place was centrally located to all. We loved the quiet and solitude, the space for the dogs to play, the history, and the wildlife that greeted us in the early mornings and evening. If you like history, unique experiences, and quiet, this is the perfect place to say. We appreciate the host wanting to keep this property in the family and sharing with others because it is really unique. The history and pictures only added to the sweetness.

Great stay

Perfect location for our stay in the Black Hills. I’m glad they had WiFi because there was no cell reception in the majority of locations (outside of towns) in the Black Hills. But there was a landline at the house in case of emergency. We actually loved the seclusion of this location and the quaintness of the house. Beds were comfy and the house itself was so charming. Our hosts were so friendly and great at communicating with us. Loved seeing all the wildlife and wildflowers blooming everywhere. Even our dogs enjoyed romping through the fields with reckless abandon. Highly recommend for a memorable visit.

A fantastic find!

This was a stroke of luck to find at the last minute. When we arrived we were greeted by Kay, who warmly welcomed us to her childhood home. We were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful, private and historical place. There is history everywhere with postings to find to tell you about all of the buildings and treasures. The wildlife watching was also plentiful. Kay and Patricia didn't miss anything. Everything you need, and more, is provided. We hope to return for a longer stay in the future.

Amazing farm house

The house is wonderful! Everything we needed was there. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed to cook complete meals. We don't eat out (except for ice cream😉) . Plenty of basic essentials for cooking a homecooked meal. The toy box was a wonderful surprise for the kiddos. 😊 Thanks The home is very clean and had lots of towels. LOCATION!!! WOW!! Perfect location. Lots of privacy yet a short drive to town, parks, hiking. We loved walking out the front door and being able to take off on a forest adventure hike. We saw lots of animals. The hosts were wonderful and we loved meeting up with Kay. She is an amazing woman! Thank you for letting us stay at your family farm and mine.

Nothing short of fantastic

We found this by accident as we normally use alternatives but we are so glad that we did. We changed our plans due to the weather in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico and although we were going to South Dakota, we were not intending staying long. This place is amazing and we would have loved to have stayed longer than five days. We are familiar with old houses (we live in one) but the history of this and the family was lovely. We enjoyed the space, peace and quiet, fires in the evening, wildlife in the morning and the solitude and safety that Kiddville afforded us. We changed our plans yet again to ensure that we saw the sights that we had come for but also had downtime at the house. Tip for travellers, go to Mt Rushmore at 3.30 and then Crazy Horse on the way back. There were very few people at either, none at Crazy Horse and we spent all of the day just hanging out at the house. We had no need for AC as the house is cool, we just left the windows to ventilate. The bed is super comfortable and there is everything that we needed to live here. Not one person has left a review in the guest book that is anything but complimentary which tells you everything that you need to know. We had the pleasure of meeting Kay (sorry we missed you Patricia) and finding out further details of her life here and family. We seriously mean it when we say that we will be back as we would love to come back for an update of Crazy Horse development. Communication was fabulous and the house is marvellous.

Perfect setting to relax and enjoy being with family

Awesome place

My wife and I really enjoyed the property! It was fun coming home every day around dusk and seeing different wildlife walking through. Our dogs also loved every bit of the area! The house had everything we needed and Kay was very friendly. We’re sorry we missed her when she stopped by. We would definitely stay again.

The homesteaders of the 1930's were my grandparents and the property is a treasured part of the family that we wish to keep. It is our hope that it will become one of your valued memories as well as you stay at an original Black Hills Gold Mining Camp and homestead. Though the house is completely modernized, it yet holds a piece of the past that is becoming difficult to find. The MODEST home is like 'visiting grandparents on the farm', as many of our guests say. It is a friendly, down to earth atmosphere.
Each of the old buildings in the yard has a sign on the door telling what part it played in the old west.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The houseyard is adjacent to Public Black Hills Forest land, and surrounded by our own private ranch acreage, so you may hike and explore to your heart's content! Wildlife visits regularly (deer, turkeys, elk, coyotes, squirrels, songbirds,...). And if you have not experienced the clean smell of pine trees or the sound of silence, or a view of the stars without street lights, you are in for a treat!
*A yard light is available if you like too!
The location is at 6000 feet altitude in the protected southern Hills, so the weather is the best you will find in these parts!
There are two window AC units in bedrooms upstairs. And a portable AC downstairs. Generally, though, the home is quite pleasant with just a breeze through an open window!
