Denna mysiga östuga, som ursprungligen byggdes på 1890-talet, renoverades nyligen med en öppen planlösning och har fantastisk utsikt över Casco Bay. Njut av färsk hummer, kul i solen eller bara koppla av på stranden. Ta färjan till Portland för en utekväll och god mat, eller laga mat på grillen och äta på bakgården. När natten faller, tänd en lägereld, ta ett glas vin i Adirondack-stolarna och kolla i ölivet. Ett stort sovrum på andra våningen och en murphysäng på första våningen gör detta hem idealiskt för upp till 4 personer. Ett fullt utrustat kök med gasspis håller kockarna på semester lyckliga. Beautiful cottage near the sea

Peaks Island Hapoy Place is a lovely cottage with lots of amenities. Although is dates back to the 1809’s it is modernized and high tech. A lovely place to spend time.

Cozy, quiet and comfortable

While the weather was a bit rainy, the house was a welcome refuge. We loved the location and the amenities.

Above and beyond

Unlike most VRBO type rentals thatdon't quite live up to the photos, the pictures of this house don't do it justice. In a word, exquisite.

Refreshing Home on Peaks Island

We have travelled to Peaks Island each summer for about 15 years and this is one of the premier homes that we have rented. The completely renovated home offers plenty of natural light and open space. The location makes for easy access to TEIA but is not in a high traffic area (busy season). The water view and outdoor furniture are great for evening dinners. Will definitely pursue this property for next year.

Lovely stay

I’m a long-time renter on Peaks Island and this place is hands down my favorite. My wife and I needed a place just for us and a 9-month old and this was perfect. I’d highly recommend it if it’s just 2 of you or with small children. We’re looking forward to returning next year.

My wife and our now 1 1/2 year old returned for another vacation at this property. We loved the property so much last year that we decided to return. It’s the perfect size and location for my family. Would happily return a 3rd time.

Great spot!

We had a super relaxing week on Peaks Island - highly recommend for some R&R. A great balance of being close to Portland (~15min ferry) for awesome restaurants and plenty to do with the relaxing peacefulness of Peaks' Island. Beautiful / brand new house and super easy check in / check out procedures - everything we needed for a great week away. We will be back!

First island visit

Never visited Peaks Island before nor stayed on an island. The cottage was high style.....my wife and i felt like we spent our 40th anniversary in a Hallmark movie!

Wonderful time at Peaks Island

The cottage was immaculate. It was just the right size for us and in a very quiet part of the island. Thank goodness it had air conditioning because it was hot the first couple of days. The granddaughter got a kick out sleeping in the Murphy bed and, hey, the bed upstairs was comfortable too. The nicest place we have stayed on the island.

Nice little house

House was clean and well maintained. Everything was as listed in the description. The house is situated in a very quiet side of the Island but easy ride/walk to the ferry dock area. We stayed a week and made couple of visits to Portland for meals and some shopping

Great Getaway

This was a great place to relax, sit outdoors, bike into town, explore the island. I love Peaks Island and wanted a place I could stay for awhile by myself. This was perfect. I especially loved the kitchen and all the cookware there. Peaks Island and Portland have amazing restaurants, but I also cooked for myself. On the days that I didn't feel like adventuring much, I enjoyed some quite time on the back patio. Was shaded and very relaxing.

Slice of Heaven

We had an amazing stay at Lorna's home. The space is updated, clean, and well-appointed, and there's plenty of room outside to enjoy the peacefulness of Peaks. The house is in super close walking distance to Centennial Beach and to the Ocean side of the island, so you have the best of both worlds. And if you want to get around the island a little quicker, there are bikes available for use, as well. We would absolutely come back to this beautiful space and would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

Perfection

This was perfection. All you need for a great vacation. Went to family wedding and all the relatives were envious of our accommodations. The family has owned a place on Peaks for over 100 years and we go almost every summer. I fear my other relatives will try to steal the place away from us. The craftmanship in the dwelling was first class...someone really cared!! Truly hope to stay here again!

Clean, bright and FAB kitchen

Although we ate at the Cockeyed Gull and Island Lobster Company which were FANTASTIC we did cook in a few nights and the kitchen is perfect, wide open, gas range and more than one person could be in kitchen. Martinis on the front lawn EACH might watching the sunset was a highlight. The glass windows on the first floor and upstairs made the place bright and airy. If you like to cook, like a modern environment and great sunsets I would recommend this place.

Charm with a modern twist

The cottage was built in late 1800’s but has been thoroughly modernized. It is small but with the open flour plan and windows everywhere it seems larger. It has a good view of Casco Bay and Portland in the distance. It has many extras and most everything you need. We spent six weeks there Ann’s because we are over packers. The lack of storage space provided a challenge. The owners were very quick to respond to questions.

Perfect House

What an adorable house. We booked this house for our wedding week and used it for my girls and I to get ready the morning of our wedding. My parents own a house down the road and it was really nice staying in a new house on the island. We were very happy and comfortable there. The house is full of windows so there's a ton of natural light coming in. The couch isn't the comfiest but you shouldn't be spending much time on it if you're here for vacation! Check in was easy. There are two bikes outside and a fire pit. It was a perfect week. Thank you!

Cons of staying at Happy Cottage.

We enjoyed the Cottage, it was very pleasant. But, we had an issue with the cameras being on in the front yard and back yard during our stay. We felt like this was very intrusive. We were asked to wash and dry the towels we used and to take our trash to the transfer station before we left. We thought with the price we were paying for cleaning that this should not have been our responsibility. Also the charcoal grill out back was a filthy mess and we did not even want to use it.

Perfect island getaway!

This house was perfect for the two of us—we had an amazing time on Peaks Island! We were wowed by the house's cleanliness and beauty. We were on a working vacation, and the spacious seating areas, multiple tables, and fast wifi allowed us to get our work done so we could enjoy the island. The back patio's many seating options were useful and comfy, and the fire pit out front provided a great spot to hang out and watch the boats on the water. There were gorgeous views of the water from the house's many windows as well, and from the comfy bedroom. We spent a lot of time cooking, and the kitchen was fully stocked with every cooking item we could need. We used the charcoal grill in the back often. The house was also extremely high-tech with an amazing security system, all the appliances seemed new, and the TV system was wonderful. Peaks Island was a great spot for long walks, swimming on the beach near the house, and going into Portland for outdoor dining and sea kayaking. Although we drove onto the island, the ferry was a nice walk from the house, and we went back and forth to the mainland on foot multiple times during our stay. I can't recommend this house highly enough!

Perfect little escape!

We had a wonderful 2 wk stay at Our Happy Place! This cozy home had everything we needed. We Uber'd from airport to ferry and used the 2 bikes as our main transportation for our stay (kids brought bikes) and we never rented a car. This area is relatively active in the summer with cyclists, walkers, and golf carts and the neighbors enjoy keeping up their landscaping in the am, so we were thankful to be able to shut the windows and use AC in the mornings to sleep in! We really enjoyed the Adirondack chairs out front and beautiful water views! No problems with water pressure or hot water. Super thankful for the washer/dryer and dishwasher that were all working well and in pristine condition (there is no longer a laundromat on Peaks). We thoroughly enjoyed Centennial Beach (nearby property owners have a "private beach" sign posted in an attempts to keep tourists away, but it is NOT private, so don't let that scare you. Everybody has a right to enjoy the ocean and the City has a ROW from Island Ave straight down to the water :) ) We had a few minor questions and the owners were super fast to respond! We've been coming to Peaks since the early 2000's and this might've been our favorite home that we've stayed at! Would 100% book again!

Once you get on the ferry from Portland, all stress dissolves and the sea air invigorates the soul. We love Peaks. Our afternoons are filled with time sitting out front and watching the boats pass by, then off for a quick ride around the island to explore. Every time we go around discovering more and more. We are foodies so, into Portland for a great evening of drinks and amazing meals then back to our happy place for an awesome nights sleep. If you want to unwind and relax this is the place.

One of our favorite things to do with friends is go explore the tunnels at Battery Steele which was built to protect Portland harbor back in WWII. Due to its location as an outer island in the bay with a clear view across the North Atlantic, Peaks Island was chosen as the principal site for Casco Bay’s defensive system. The battery was armed with two 16” guns capable of firing a 2000 pound shot 26 miles to sea!
