Start your day by peacefully awakening to the beauty of the sunrise that pours through the skylights into your luxurious master suite. Take a stroll around the grounds, look for tropical plants and notice how many birds you will see. Sit by the waterfall ponds and truly appreciate the beauty of the sun rising out of the ocean. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast out on the lanai. During winter season you may even see whales breaching or a pod of dolphins playing! Plan a day trip to see the volcano, tour the waterfalls or visit our local black sand beach. Come afternoon, curl up in the hammock overlooking the ocean and read a book or let the sound of the waves lull you to sleep. Take an afternoon dip in the saltwater pool. To thoroughly enjoy your time at our unique property -the possibilities are endless! Complete the perfect day at your own private lava rock beach roasting marshmallows by fire.

Our beautiful home has recently been completely updated and renovated. Almost everything is brand new. We boast the most gorgeous koa, mango, and monkey pod wood throughout the entire home. A lava rock fireplace graces the majestic entry into the great room and kitchen.
Our guests always say the same thing when they leave; they wish they had spent more time at the house versus going on excursions!
Bedroom 1: A luxurious Cal King master suite with TV, jacuzzi jet tub and shower. Access to ocean view lanai and saltwater pool.

Big Island Paradise is located in the lush and tropical Puna district of East Hawaii. It is the perfect base for day trips to Volcano National Park, swimming beaches and turtle lagoons in Hilo and the beautiful Hamakua Coast waterfalls.

*Please be aware this property is not well suited for very small children due to pools, ponds, ocean cliffs, etc.
*The pool is about 4.5/5 ft deep across
*We have excellent WIFI and boosters throughout the home so working on vacation (though we don’t recommend) or online schooling can be easily accomplished
*Newly installed AC units keep the bedrooms cool in the evening. Temperatures are automatically set to a comfortable degree and provide much relief from island humidity -a luxury most vacation homes on the island do not have
*Hilo airport approximately 25 minutes away
*Unfortunately we cannot accommodate weddings, parties or large family gatherings
*Oceanview Billiard room access with air conditioning, smart TV and poker is available, please inquire with the owner

Like being on an Island!

Book this place if you’re looking to get away from the crowds and the noise. We forget that life can be so peaceful and beautiful but this property will remind you that you need this kind of life every once in a while in your life!

Amazing location and property

A beautiful, well-maintained house that feels like it's in the middle of a rainforest, but is still easily accessible by car. The open-floor plan of the main living area + kitchen invites guests to spend time together, but the three main bedrooms provide sufficient privacy. Everything around the house is in good working working order, which shows how much the owners care about the property. The garden is absolutely magnificent! This was one of our favorite places in Hawaii - we had a great time and would love to come back again for a longer stay.

A Wonderful Week

My wife and I brought our two daughters and their husbands to enjoy a week of island paradise. This place delivered. We had a magical time. The place was beautiful, and the location was ideal for getting to waterfalls, beaches and volcanos. Our only regret was not having another week to stay.

Breathtaking views and comforts

We had such a special vacation. The house is a work of art with open beams, tropical woods, lava stone hearth. We were in the pool everyday and roasted marshmallows at the campfire overlooking an 180 degree view of the ocean. Beautiful cloud formations, eastern view sunrises and colorful sunsets. A bird watcher’s dream. Very private and exquisite landscaping. We look forward to coming back. Thank you to the owners for being very helpful and responsive.

Paradise on the Big Island

The pictures don’t do this home justice. This is an absolutely stunning home. We enjoyed everything about it and really liked the town of Pahoa. Meagan and Jim were great and made sure our stay went well. We hope to be back soon!

Incredible Relaxation

We could not stop staring at the ocean, watching the waves crash, turtles swim, and enjoy the occasional rain shower against the roof. We used the house as a point to head out on day long excursions, and it was the perfect place to seclude yourself from the world and wind down.

Perfect, private getaway!

This place looked even better in person! We really enjoyed our time on the East side of the island and were sad to leave this fabulous house. We made some great memories! We truly couldn’t wait to get back to the house after our excursions and spent most evenings in, just listening to the waves and enjoying the comfortable living room with the best tv content we’ve ever had at a rental. We could have just stayed there all day and been perfectly happy. Thank you so much for the wonderful time!

gorgeous end-of-the-road property

the house is beautiful: spacious with stunning woodwork and wonderful airy views of the ocean. but the best part is the huge private yard, artfully landscaped, complete with waterfalls and a pond and lovely native plants and trees, and perched on the lava rock edge of the wild pacific ocean. i spent hours on the bench on the coast, mesmerized by the ever-changing but always powerful waves; a great place to leave the busy world behind, and instead ground in the awesome power of nature!

Beautiful Tropical Home

This very secluded property is beautiful with brqth-taking views of ocean. The bedrooms were comfortable and the main living area and porch gave spectacular views. On the negative side, the main living space is not air conditioned and even with doors wide open and ceiling fans going, the humidity is high and always stuffy coming home as we were told to lock windows/doors up each time we went out for day trips. We traveled to all the nearby spots including Volcano and north of Hilo . Watched fireworks on 4th of July over Hilo Bay - just great !! Our days were so full we didn’t have time to use the lovely private swimming pool. The owners were extremely responsive to questions and requests and provided lots of information on local food places. Definitely go to Pepe’s for breakfast or lunch. Overall we would return in a heartbeat !!!

Your very own slice of paradise, you won't want to leave!

Where to even start. This property is absolutely amazing! It's set on a large three acre lot that makes it feel like you're in the jungle and gives you some buffer room from some of the neighboring homes. The two levels, open concept, and wrap-around covered lanai with lounge chairs and hammock gave everyone their own space to relax. The grounds are amazingly designed and well kept! An array of beautiful tropical plants and a huge flowing water feature in the backyard makes everything feel so tranquil and peaceful. Our kids spent a ton of time in the swimming pool that is right off the master bedroom. While not heated, it was plenty warm and our kiddos had no complaints. Be careful walking on the outdoor tiles, as they can get slippery after being in the pool or from the early morning dew. The home is set on the beautiful black lava cliffs overlooking the ocean. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks was a great way to drift off to sleep every night. We saw whales and sea turtles right from the property! There is also a really cool farmers market (Maku'u Farmers Market) a couple miles away that is open on Sundays. There was a great selection of fresh fruits and veggies, great food trucks/stalls, and local artisans selling crafts. Our stay was absolutely perfect! The house was clean and well appointed with everything needed to cook meals. It also has a large propane grill under a covered portion of the lanai for grilling your freshly caught seafood. We can't wait to go back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. It was a very special family vacation that we won't soon forget.

Beautiful property-awful hosts

We were so excited about this trip but we unfortunately had SEVERAL issues with the hosts that soured our experience. First off, a separate rental agreement was sent to us the month before check-in followed by a request for payment. I paid the remainder of our balance and missed the message about the agreement. The owner didn’t mention it was missing until THREE HOURS before check-in. We were already headed across the island, with shotty cellphone service and no internet. They said they needed it to be filled out, including a signature, and a picture of our drivers license to be emailed to them before they would give us access to the house. I even asked if they could give us their WiFi info once we got there so we could do it from outside. They said no. Luckily, once we got to Pahoa, my husbands hotspot worked, I dug out my laptop (we would have been completely screwed if I didn’t have it) and we completed the paperwork. We had awful weather… that is no fault of the hosts of course… but when asked about a tv that wasn’t working (there were two not working actually), the hosts response was “not much I can do about a broken tv at 8pm. Most people are there to enjoy the views” How about a “so sorry for the inconvenience. I will get that fixed first thing in the morning”?! Not to mention, there is no “view” at night AND we had zero views most of the time we were there because it was overcast and raining. There were ZERO toys for kids. The only toys we saw were locked in a room that we could see through the window but they wouldn’t let us have access even when we were desperate to entertain the kids with all the bad weather. Finally, after we left, they messaged us asking where the key was for the studio room (side note- this room is not attached to the space at all… you have to go outside to get to your room. Not convenient when it is down pouring the entire time. And the physical key had to be used instead of the keypad on the door because that was ALSO broken) Anyway, my father-in-law accidentally pocketed the key. We apologized and said we would ship it from the Honolulu airport if they had a post office or right when we got back to Michigan. The hosts response “Leave us a nice review and we will forget about it. It’s normally $250 for time and such to replace it” That’s called extortion. Obviously I don’t care about the threat because I’m writing a truthful review regardless. These clowns should be removed from Vrbo.

The house was beautiful and the setting was gorgeous. We were very comfortable there. We had a couple of people who had to work during part of the stay, and the internet worked great. Also, it was nice that there were several desks for the working people. Some of us enjoyed running on the Government Beach Road - just gorgeous! We also really enjoyed breakfast at Pele's Kitchen in Pahoa.

Beautiful grounds and home. We stayed here for a few nights to wind down at the end of an extended family trip. It was a great retreat and we enjoyed cooking a few meals in the kitchen. The living room could get a little warm during the day, but the bedroom AC was plenty comfortable.

This property is a hidden gem! The location is remote however perfect if you want be in the most peaceful and beautiful place ever. Jim and Meagan were excellent hosts, extremely attentive and responsive. Our family enjoyed our stay very much even with the tsunami! :)

Great location for Volcanoes National Park

Our group of 7 (2 couples and 3 teenagers) enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. The location was great for our excursion to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, as well as, a cool zip line tour just north of Hilo. Playing billiards and sitting around the fire pit were highlights. The master bedroom on the 2nd floor was great. The layout of the downstairs was a little odd, and some commented that a dehumidifier would have been nice downstairs. Overall, the setting was beautiful; we just wish we had been there during one of the Kīlauea eruptions!

Island Paradise

Our family vacation was absolutely amazing! This property is gorgeous, and the house was very clean. The host was incredibly responsive and helpful. The location was perfect for exploring the Island. The well stocked kitchen, comfortable living space and pool were a real plus. This was truly a fantastic VRBO experience. This property is highly recommended!

We purchased this property because we love being in and near the ocean. This property is close to some of the best snorkeling, fishing, and diving in the world but allows for privacy and space. It is in a great location with easy access to multiple restaurants, the beach, the volcano and local hiking areas. We have made some of our best family memories in Pahoa and enjoy our property as often as we possibly can.
