Beautiful Nottingham House: Secluded but Close to Town

Nottingham House is a modern home with furnishings remodeled to accommodate visitors to the lovely city of Fairbanks. The home is a duplex, with the VRBO unit on the lower level. Because of the windows and the unit is walk out, it does not feel like a downstairs.

The Nottingham House is located in the hills above Fairbanks, providing a quiet private location that is an easy drive to much to much of Fairbanks, including downtown, University of Alaska, Pioneer Park and the airport. The privacy allows quiet views of the stunning winter sunrises, as well as extended animal viewing in the back yard (we sometimes see moose!). With the large, south-facing windows, guests are able to experience the light of Fairbanks at all stages of the year.

The unit can accommodate up to 8 guests with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open kitchen and living room area, a dining area, and laundry room. Additionally, there are two pullout couches: one in the living room and one in the master bedroom. Please note that more than 4 guests will add an additional charge of $25 each/night.

The large primary bedroom has a queen bed, tiled bathroom, and has a sitting area with a pull out full bed that can be walled off with sliding pocket doors to create a semi-private second bedroom. Another tiled bathroom services the other bedroom, with queen bed, to accommodates the rest of your family. The kitchen is stocked with amenities and small appliances for preparing your meals. Contemporary, open kitchen and dining room invite warm family gatherings. The tiled showers and bathrooms are elegant and spacious.

Great Property

This place was perfect for our stay and very well maintained and equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. It is a great place for families and the walking/skiing trails around the house were a real benefit. You can ski down to the university which has a lot of nice groomed trails.

Amazing Place

What an amazing place to stay. They thought of everything you might need! Super clean and comfortable.We came to see the Northern Lights and got some fantastic views right in the front driveway!!!!Close to everything but still secluded. The owners were super easy to work with and very attentive.We would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Great House in a Great Location

This was a Great House in a Great Location back in the woods. We were able to see the Northern Lights from the back yard. It was close to town for restaurants and shopping. Brittany was very responsive and very helpful answering all of our questions. I would Highly recommend this property for your visit to Fairbanks.

Loved it

The hosts did a great job of making us feel at home. They had a very well equipped kitchen, great layout, thoughtful stocking of kleenex and lotion for the dry winter conditions, very clean walkway outside with an easy plug for the car. The only thing that would have made it perfect was if the second bedroom was larger. The door was also unique with clear segments and a pull curtain so it wasn't completely private for our friend. But all in all, we loved it.

This property is beautifully decorated and well equipped. It was very comfortable for a group of 5 adults (2 couples and a single friend). The hosts responded quickly and were very friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved our snowy hideaway!

Fairbanks greeted us with more snow than expected but our AWD handled the 10 minute trip from the airport to this lovely rental with no problem. As everyone else has already stated, this home is stocked with everything you could ask for and the beautiful artwork and decor made us feel right at home.

we have wonderful stayed, its very spacey. we can watch TV, working on labtop and eating at same time in different area no problem.. fully equipped kitchen it's make so much earlier not to eat out in snow day. love decorate around house it's quite enjoyable....

Great stay in Fairbanks

We really enjoyed our stay. The communication and all the directions were very clear and everything was just like the photos. It was so nice to have multiple spaces to spread out and relax, eat, etc. We were very comfortable hanging out and cooking in the home all together. The yard was lovely and we felt far away while still being very close to everything we needed in town and to the airport. Everything was very clean and I especially appreciated the unscented products and the house just smelled fresh without any artificial fragrances! A huge plus!! The appliances were all really nice, and the washer/ dryer were so nice to have available! There were plenty of plush towels, cleaning and personal products, extra supplies, kitchen appliances, dishes, etc. for all 6 days we were there. There were 3 adults and 2 kids in our group, so the only downside was the pull out couch. It was VERY uncomfortable, where the hard metal frame was all we could feel. We ended up with the mattress on the floor. Not ideal, but better than on the frame. There were so many pluses though, it's still a 5 star place overall, especially for anyone only using the 2 beds! Lastly, our trip was planned to try and see the northern lights. While we didn't see them from the property (too many lights and trees, south facing), we were only 30 minutes away from Murphy Dome and had lots of success, going up there!

Outstanding quality of property

Very clean, modern and cozy property makes us feel at home. Most of item was prepared with clean and well organized, so fimally what we need to bring was tooth brush only! Though property was enough close to the city, the area was very quiet and calm place where I really love it. For winter season, I rexcomend to use 4wd cat to access. Host Brittany & Jeff respond very quickly upon inquiry and provided very clear instruction for checking in for us. Also, during the stay they helped to clear the snow on pedestrian and carpark, that helped us to walk around easy. Just 1thing I worried was trash we made during stay. Since I couldn't find the bin at the place we told, I put the trash into the bin in front of the 1st floor instead. If it was wrong, Im really sorry about that.. Anyway if we have another chance to visit fait, definitely i will come back here.

Home away from home

Overall, I and everyone in my group thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at Nottingham House. I only have one gripe: the floors were very dirty. Walking around without shoes resulted in black feet. Even so, I would visit again, I'd just bring some slippers. In every other way, you can tell that real care goes into maintaining this property. So many things are already on-hand for your convenience: detergent, spices, all the basic kitchen necessities for cooking and baking, extra toilet paper, and many more things we didn't even use (games, movies, etc.). My interactions with Brittany (the host) were all very positive. She was very helpful and responded quickly to my questions prior to arrival. At one point I asked what baking implements were available and she offered to bring down something from upstairs if it wasn't already downstairs. On the last day of our stay, we were doing some laundry, but the power went out. I called Brittany to inform her and ask if the house was on city water or a well. In the 15-20 minutes the power was out Brittany had already contacted the power company and got back to me that the power would be back on soon. Brittany was gracious enough that, though at work, she asked if we needed anything from the store and gave us the ability to leave after the standard check-out period. We could not have had a more accommodating host. The host's family is very quiet in the upstairs level; we only heard faint footsteps downstairs on two occasions. This was very fitting for the location, which was also very quiet. I found the house's setting (a forested area outside of town) peaceful and relaxing. I really liked the showers. The quality matches what you see in the photos. The heated floors are also nice. The sleeping arrangements are comfortable. I would describe the bed firmness as medium. It was more plush than I'm used to, but I slept just fine. I'm used to sleeping in near total darkness, so the second bedroom (which has no windows) worked well for me. The door to that room does have windows, but just inside the door there is a floor-to-ceiling curtain that can be pulled across the entry to the room. (Around the summer solstice it is always light out in Fairbanks.) If done right, the Vrbo experience far exceeds what you get at a hotel, and that is what Brittany offers at Nottingham House.

So close yet so remote

It’s a short 5 min drive into town yet feels like this home is miles and miles away from it all. Super cute home and nice layout. Has everything one could need including laundry and bbq. Miles of trails outside the front door and views that are expansive and magnetic. The cherry on the top were the outstanding Northern Lights we got to see! Host was attentive and communicative while never in the way.

We purchased this property in June of 2020 and we are so excited to be embarking on the home rental journey with you all! Jeff and I have lived in Fairbanks a combined 25 years, and it's safe to say we love it here - summer AND winter. We especially enjoy exploring the great outdoors, both in Fairbanks and within the state. Our favorite activities include skiing (classic, skate, downhill, back country), boating (pack rafting or canoeing), hiking, biking (road, fat, or mountain), cooking and eating out, gardening, home improvement, flying, and going to events in Fairbanks.

We are both from the Midwest, and love a good salad (full of marshmallows and jello of course!). We do live upstairs, but with the private entrance we leave the amount of contact up to guests. We're happy to chat and also happy to be totally separate. Either way, we are available and accessible to our guests to make their stay one they won't soon forget!

We fell in love with this property as soon as we saw it. The previous owners put a ton of time, energy, and resources into making this an amazing place to spend time relaxing and separating from the modern world. Their prior listing was riddled with reviews of guest enjoying Fairbanks, and especially enjoying the great outdoors at this house. The house is so close to everything in town while still feeling totally secluded. Prior guests spoke of animal sightings: caribou, hawks, moose, and a fluttering of other birds. Plus - the Northern Lights are totally worth the hype! This property has been used as a rental for years with great results, and we're confident we can continue to deliver the quality experience of previous owners.

This home truly feels like it's in the middle of the woods (it is!) but it's a short few miles from town. You can connect to dozens of miles of ski and bike trails from the house if you're up for an adventure, or you can drive a few miles to find them too.
