Det Àr bara en 140 meter lÄng promenad till den kÀnda surfstranden Sandy Bay som i allmÀnhet Àr sÀker för simning / surfing genom alla tidvatten och har ocksÄ en sötvattenbÀck / lagun för smÄ barn att paddla in. Det vÀlutrustade vandringsspÄret lÀngs kusten till Whananaki börjar hÀr för dem som vill ha lugn motion.
En kort bilresa tar dig till Whale Bay och Matapouri och bara nÄgra kilometer ligger pÄ Tutukaka, basen för alla dykning och fisketurer pÄ vÀg till de vÀrldsberömda fattiga riddareöarna. Du hittar ocksÄ en mÀngd olika kaféer och restauranger pÄ Tutukaka och Ngunguru.

The cottage had a special feeling and nostalgia. Kitchen was well equipped. Close proximity to owner in adjacent house was unexpected, and distance to beach was further than online photos had suggested, but we still had a good time.

Cute beach house

Very cute rustic bach that is a one minute walk to the beach. Host was very helpful with check in and communications. Definitely recommend if you are after a peaceful getaway.

Three Day getaway

We had a wonderful time close to Tutukaka where we caught up with friends for dinner at the fishing club , and we had fun at Nungaru with a bit of fishing off the beach

Lovely base for exploring the area

There is so much to love about this area. The beaches are stunning. The bach is perfectly placed to enjoy it all. It's not the flashest but it is well equipped with all you need. Internet and phone is sketchy in the bach. The owner was helpful but also left us to ourselves. Good value. Would recommend.

Sandy Bay Trip

We really enjoyed our short stay at Sandy Bay. Our accommodation (Sandy Bay Barn) was excellent and had everything we needed. Very clean and tidy. It was close to the beach and we would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend this place.

We had a blissful time

Exactly as I'd hoped. A small beach bach in a rural setting. Nothing luxurious but everything at hand & allowing for a relaxed holiday. We loved the outdoor shelter and spent hours reading, eating and watching the abundant bird life. Simple instructions about what to leave & how. Very comfortable beds with extra linen & bedding easily available. Toys, books, games for happy times together and so close to the beach.

Peaceful getaway

Very clean and quiet area apart from the sound of the surf and native birds. There was everything that you would need and though the barn is situated behind the main house it was very private. Beautiful view of the surf especially from the top story bedroom. Plenty of room for a family.

Quiet and calm.

What a beautiful little place to stay this was! I slept there and the ocean surf nursed me to sleep. Although I arrived very late, Pauline was awesome in communicating with me and there was no hustle for me to get in, sleep and get out. For sure will be back :) Thanks!!
