SANDY BAY - Sublime beachside

Det är bara en 140 meter lång promenad till den kända surfstranden Sandy Bay som i allmänhet är säker för simning / surfing genom alla tidvatten och har också en sötvattenbäck / lagun för små barn att paddla in. Det välutrustade vandringsspåret längs kusten till Whananaki börjar här för dem som vill ha lugn motion.
En kort bilresa tar dig till Whale Bay och Matapouri och bara några kilometer ligger på Tutukaka, basen för alla dykning och fisketurer på väg till de världsberömda fattiga riddareöarna. Du hittar också en mängd olika kaféer och restauranger på Tutukaka och Ngunguru.

Cute beach house

Very cute rustic bach that is a one minute walk to the beach. Host was very helpful with check in and communications. Definitely recommend if you are after a peaceful getaway.

Three Day getaway

We had a wonderful time close to Tutukaka where we caught up with friends for dinner at the fishing club , and we had fun at Nungaru with a bit of fishing off the beach

Magic spot right next to the beach

Great Kiwi bach. A lovely short walk to the main beach. Great surf, nice safe swimming, an estuary for the kids, amazing trees and rocks to play in. Lovely hosts. Can’t recommend enough

Lovely base for exploring the area

There is so much to love about this area. The beaches are stunning. The bach is perfectly placed to enjoy it all. It's not the flashest but it is well equipped with all you need. Internet and phone is sketchy in the bach. The owner was helpful but also left us to ourselves. Good value. Would recommend.

Sandy Bay Trip

We really enjoyed our short stay at Sandy Bay. Our accommodation (Sandy Bay Barn) was excellent and had everything we needed. Very clean and tidy. It was close to the beach and we would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend this place.

We had a blissful time

Exactly as I'd hoped. A small beach bach in a rural setting. Nothing luxurious but everything at hand & allowing for a relaxed holiday. We loved the outdoor shelter and spent hours reading, eating and watching the abundant bird life. Simple instructions about what to leave & how. Very comfortable beds with extra linen & bedding easily available. Toys, books, games for happy times together and so close to the beach.

Peaceful getaway

Very clean and quiet area apart from the sound of the surf and native birds. There was everything that you would need and though the barn is situated behind the main house it was very private. Beautiful view of the surf especially from the top story bedroom. Plenty of room for a family.

Quiet and calm.

What a beautiful little place to stay this was! I slept there and the ocean surf nursed me to sleep. Although I arrived very late, Pauline was awesome in communicating with me and there was no hustle for me to get in, sleep and get out. For sure will be back :) Thanks!!

Great spot a short walk to beach. View from property was from upstairs bedroom window not from living room or garden. I guess trees have grown. Would definitely visit again ticked all our boxes.

Not what we were expecting

We booked for easter weekend to get away with the kids, unfortunately was not what we expected, no photos were shown online of the out side of the property when we got there we realised it was a converted garage/shed, furniture was old and uncomfortable it was raining during our stay so were inside for the most part. Things were not up to par cleanliness wise, old bar of soap and hair in the shower, one of the door handles were faulty so when the door was closed the room was inaccessible. Ran out of hot water on the second day gas supplied by the looks of things. On a positive note the area was great, great access to the beach and a lovely spot.
