The Mountain Greenie

Mountain Greenie erbjuder en chans att koppla av i ett modernt hus med en fantastisk lantlig miljö. Den går tillbaka till en buskreserv och tittar över skogen vid Mt Ruapehu. Ursprungligen är ett järnvägsställe Rangataua en charmig stad där vi går och cyklar på gatorna. Tågen stannar inte i dag men du kan vinka från däck! Fem minuter till Ohakune eller Junction, ingenting är långt borta om det behövs. På drygt 20 minuter kan du vara på Turoa-parkeringen!

Nära till skidfält, Old Coach Road mountainbike, vandringsleder i ett världsarvsområde och den episka Tongariro Crossing-dagspromenaden. Även kanot, kajakpaddling och tågbil inom en timme. Njut av caféer, butiker eller biblioteket i Ohakune eller bara chillax hemma. Det finns något för alla.

Byggt som ett prototyphus med en dubbel väggkavitet är dess isoleringsnivå dubbelt så hög som industristandarden. Det är utrustat med termiska persienner, naturliga golv (kork, bambu, linoleum och ullmattor), återvunna träbänkar och matbord. Köks- och badrumsskåpet är tillverkat lokalt och med vacker björkfinér. Makrocarpa-sittplatserna på det stora soliga däcket malades precis längs vägen och utomhusbaden förvånar!

I huset kan du ansluta din musik till högtalarna (standard 3. 5mm jack), titta på en film (ta med en DVD eller USB-pinne), spela brädspel eller bläddra igenom tidskrifter. Det finns också ett husinformation om du vill veta mer om huset du bor i, hur det fungerar och varför det ser ut som det gör.

I garaget finns foosboll, bordtennis, en åskådesoffa och ett torkrum (för att hålla fuktigheten nere i huset!) och utrymme för att lagra alla dina cyklar och skidor.

Mountain Greenie är utformad för att vara både en lärandemöjlighet och en underbar tillflyktsort. Om du är ute efter någon av dessa saker kan det vara precis det du letar efter.

Lovely getaway

The perfect Easter weekend away for me and my whānau. We relaxed, enjoyed the sun and loved sitting in the bath and looking at Mt Ruapehu! Such a special home and thankful for the restorative time we had.

Perfect family stay

2nd time at the Greenie and if anything enjoyed it more than before as used the outside bath this time! And the games room got great use too, lots of fun. Beautiful views and amazing insulated warm house mean you can't go wrong staying here. Unless you really need WiFi, but that's made clear in the listing.

Cosy, clean and mountain views!

A lovely house which has been thoughtfully prepared for holiday accommodation with a very well equipped kitchen, spacious living area and comfortable bedrooms. Bikers, walkers and skiers are all catered for and there's lots of comfy seating for recovering from all the above, with a games room to boot!

Weekend stay for skiing

Loved the Mountain Greenie. Really cozy and warm and full equipped with everything you'd need. The host Kether was easy and helpful to correspond with and the place and location suited us perfectly. Would definitely be interested in returning again for another ski or cycling weekend. Thank you again for having us. Enjoy the solar system puzzle we left for others to enjoy.

Xavier's first trip to the snow!

Awesome place to stay! Had everything our family of four needed. So warm and cosy - even when weather was cold and stormy outdoors we didn't need the heaters. My partner was very impressed and read all the house build info provided. We only had a short (and very busy) trip but would love to come back and stay longer next time :)

Grate family home

We traveled from WA so my kids could see snow and experience snow activities. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good and it got worse as time went by. The Mountain Greenie was a saving grace. For the activities available at the garage and board games were perfect for those wet days. I recommend stretching before you play twister.

Great stay

Our family of 4 had a great mini getaway to The Mountain Greenie. The house was very clean -probably one of the cleanest we've stayed in. It had all the things we needed in a well equipped kitchen especially coffee making things like plunger and a mocka pot which we like to have. The house was very warm and comfortable as stated and kept the heat in all night even when it was -4 outside. The kids really enjoyed the games room in the garage and the ample lawn to kick the soccer ball around on. We all loved the outdoor baths. We chose this place for its quiet location which it was. It is near the railway tracks which was a novelty for us but be aware the train comes through 3-4 times during the week night if that sort of thing bothers you. The view to the mountain from the lounge, deck and main bedroom is very cool.

Very warm and comfortable with a view

We had a really cosy and comfortable stay, it was a home away from home. Great views and vwry close to Ohakune . Be aware that the train goes past, this didnt bother us.

I was born in Wellington, New Zealand and have spent in time in most of the major cities here. After university I worked by the Southern Alps in the South Island before going overseas to work in the U.K. and in The Rocky Mountains in Canada.
I came back to New Zealand to be closer to family and have enjoyed spending more time in the Central Plateau and around Rangataua.

Varför värden valde detta boende

The Mountain Greenie was build as a collaboration prototype house and moved onto the site at Rangataua. It is one of the most (if not THE most) insulated houses you will find.
It suits being in the coldest part of the North Island due to it's exceptional insulation.
The view doesn't hurt either.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

Modern furnishings allow maximum relaxation WITHOUT tv and wifi to distract you from your holiday.
The views from the house, the yard and the outside baths is all for your enjoyment. Watch the groomers work at night in the winter and the last rays of sun hit the slopes on summer evenings.
The foosball, table tennis and board games keep you sane when the skiing, mountain biking and hiking is all done.
You even get to wave to the tourists on the trains that roll past.
