A Hidden Gem

Perfect location to be immersed in solitude, nature, and perfect surroundings. Our expectations were met and then some. Easy access to several beach locations. We enjoyed the musical Jasper, beach and found sea glass on Sandy Beach. Acadia National Park was phenomenal!! Tons of wildlife. Our host was kind and attentive to our needs. I would highly suggest this beautiful location.

Bluffs Cottage is homey, well stocked, delightfully comfortable, private, and the sun room is a dream with all the windows open to catch the breeze. We'll be back.

Cozy, comfortable cottage

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Bluffs Cottage! We relaxed in the sunroom after a sightseeing day and watched the local wildlife in the back yard. The retro colors in the kitchen were charming, and it did not lack for anything. The beds were very comfortable, and the cottage did not lack for storage for all our vacation needs. We enjoyed evening walks on the beach at Roque Bluffs State Park, visited the West Quoddy Lighthouse (the easternmost point of land in the U.S.), hiked the Cutler Preserve Trail to magnificent cliffs, and explored a lot of the small towns along the coast. Had a hard time leaving!! Would definitely recommend this rental.

Perfect for our family

We were in town to let my mothers ashes go. The cottage was in a perfect location to vist my mothers favorite places like Jasper Beach and Rogue Bluffs. She was from Machiasport. My kids loved the picnic table and backyard to run around in. Only complaint from them was internet but they live in different times than us, they have only had high speed. The inteenet was what is to be expected in a remote coastal town. The house was clean and had everything we needed and more. Thanks for the use of your beautiful little cottage and best wishes on your wedding day!

Perfect for us!

We used this property as overflow lodging for family that came to visit us while we were staying in Roque Bluffs and it was perfect for us! The property was spotlessly clean and Marjorie was a terrific host. She was very quick to respond to any questions and very accommodating. Her communication was excellent and I highly recommend staying here.

Fantastic introduction to Downeast Maine!

We loved our stay and hope to be back soon! The cottage is in walking distance or a short drive to the phenomenal beach (Roque Bluffs). We spent every morning at the beach (the low tides made a perfect haven for young kids) and afternoons playing in the big backyard, and then exploring local hikes or nearby towns. Highlights included trips to Campobello Island, Eastport, Lubec, and lots of hikes in Maine Heritage Coast Trust trails (which were pristine and provided gorgeous views). Maggie was a wonderful and communicative host!

Peaceful

It was very peaceful there, the backyard has a little fire pit and some chairs which is perfect for star gazing. Sky is amazing. The beach is right down the street, fun for the kids. The place was clean and beds were comfortable. Any questions I had I got a quick reply. We were happy.

Marge was a great host. The banana nut bread she left for us was yummy! This was a great little place to stay at and it was nice and quiet! Only minor glitch was the WiFi wasn’t the greatest and couldn’t get on Netflix on the tv, but not Marge’s fault. I recommend this place and would stay here again!

Awesome Roque Bluff

Marjorie was amazing left us some home bread was so delicious. Place was clean and just what we needed for our two poodles. Very peaceful would highly recommend this place. Enjoy our stay will be looking forward to a future vist

Bold Coast Beauty & Relaxation

This is our 2nd year at Bluffs Cottage and we will return again. The location is quiet with a private and serene backyard. We even had a herd of 12 deer as company one evening. Proximity to Machias for shops and restaurants, as well as to many scenic drives, is fantastic. The cottage beds are comfy and everything is well equipped. Marjorie is a joy! Wonderful experience!

This charming coastal cottage was perfect for our family of 4 to spread out and enjoy our stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated and is fully stocked with everything you could need, including a washer and dryer plus laundry detergent, and a Brita water filter pitcher in the fridge, which we really appreciated. The location is amazing, with the beach just down the road and only a short drive into the town of Machias. The property is so quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Maggie is a superb host and provided excellent communication every step of the way, plus she left us homemade banana bread as a welcome! Checking in and out was a breeze. We hope to return on future visits!

Nice quiet getaway

We had a great stay the house was nice and clean. We had 5 and all slept comfortably. We had a fire 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Beach was right down the road which was great. A little more remote than we anticipated, but that ended up making for a nice quiet getaway. My wife ended up finding wild blueberries growing right along the road side across the street. Would recommend for quiet restful trip.

Maine at its best

We can’t say enough about the Bluffs Cottage. It was truly a wonderful experience - we couldn’t have asked for a better host. Maggie has gone above and beyond to make the cottage and the property a perfect place to stay. The cottage is so warm and welcoming. If we needed anything, Maggie was very responsive. And the homemade pumpkin bread was such a treat! We spent a lot of time at the Roque Bluffs beach just a short drive or walk down the road. Machias is right nearby if you need to run into town quick. If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway and want to experience Maine at its best - THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY!

Excellent!

Second time we have stayed here, and was just as nice as the first time. Maggie is by far the best hostess. She is half the reason we went back. We had everything we needed in the cottage and is very close to Roque Bluffs State Park. Will be going again in the future.
