Casa Vieja inrymmer vardagsrum, 2 KING sovrum, ett loft sovrum och 2 badrum och Colonial Kitchen. Mittemot Casa Vieja Àr CASA NUEVA, dÀr en dramatisk central hall Àr ingÄngen till 3 sovrum och 3 badrum alla med skyhöga 26 'tak och 13 "höga dörrar. Den stora BefÀlhavaren har en nedsÀnkt vardagsrum, och utanför i en muromgÀrdad trÀdgÄrd Àr en soffa och pool. Mellan dessa tvÄ byggnader Àr ett open-air vardagsrum och matsal, loggian. FrÄn loggian klÀttra en trappa till en takterrass med lounge och en stjÀrna stirrar PLATTFORM. Under hela hacienda det finns bevis för sin tidigare utilitaristiska liv. JÀrnhjul och massiva balkar Àr rester av det förflutna. FrÄn loggian klÀttra en sluten spiraltrappa till taket lounge och en stjÀrna stirrar plattform. HÀr kan du titta pÄ mÄnen, stjÀrnor, solnedgÄng, en annalkande storm eller njuta av kvÀllen vinden. Framing hela hacienda Àr torra staplade stenmurar, höga hÀckar av Fica och vÀggar kreativt utformade med metallburar fyllda med lokal kalksten. SkÀlen Àr fyllda med exotiska sÀllsynta palmer, bambu, Gingers, tropiska vÀxter och frukttrÀd.
Huset restaureringen har varit ett projekt av den berömda mexikanska arkitekten Salvador Reyes Rios och hans partner och hustru Josefina Larrain. De flesta av möblerna hela Àr designad av Salvador och tillverkas lokalt. Denna hacienda har publicerats i flera tidningar och böcker. Senast Hacienda Style av Karen Witynski och Joe Carr, och före renoveringen av poolen och Casa Nueva, The New Hacienda av samma författare.

Tillbringa en dag slingrande in och ut ur byar dÀr de stora spanska koloniala kloster Àr. Gulf Coast ligger 45 minuter bort dÀr du kan bada i viken vatten och njuta av fÀrsk fisk och skaldjur. Dyka eller snorkla i mÄnga cenotes som finns i nÀrheten: Cuzama Àr 25 minuter bort. Merida Àr 35 minuter bort.

Förutom loggian restaurering och den nya taket och Bocce Ball court har vi en ny hacienda entrĂ©, uppfart, bodega och en NY 2100 SQ. FT. 2 sovrum, 2 bad pensionat. Detta hus kallas CASA SISAL och VRBO # 286.207. Även om detta hem ritades i moderna estetiska, byggtekniker och material Ă€r desamma som hacienda. Omgiven av nĂ€ckros fyllde Ă„terspeglar dammar det byggdes i henequen tork fĂ€lt, som grĂ€nsar till hacienda. Det Ă€r pĂ„ 3 tunnland och Ă€r omgiven av en 10 fots historisk hacienda vĂ€gg. Det finns ett modernt kök, matplats för 8-10 och en nedsĂ€nkt vardagsrum med öppen spis och en platt bildskĂ€rm för DVD-tittande, och huset Ă€r kopplat för ljud och jag pod redo. Det finns en kung i ett sovrum och 2 Queens i den andra. I master badrummet duschen kan öppna för en inhĂ€gnad trĂ€dgĂ„rd. Det Ă€r en 30 fot kantlösa pool med en playita av grunt vatten. Hemmet Ă€r fullt skĂ€rmad och luftkonditionerade. Detta hus har ocksĂ„ tillgĂ„ng till boccia boll domstol. Det Ă€r en bekvĂ€m privat enklav. A breath taking property in the countryside

We had an outstanding stay at Hacienda Sac Chic. Our group of 8 absolutely loved our relaxing stay at the hacienda. The grounds and property are extremely well maintaned and the staff was exceptional. The location is a little remote, but is an excellent point to take day trips from. Much easier than leaving from Merida centro. We are already planning our stay for next year.

The authentic and magical Mexico!

This was my 4th visit to Hacienda Sac Chich and if I thought it was amazing before, I was blown away by it now. The owners have continued to refine this property, going to any and every length to ensure its authenticity, beauty, and comfort. Their eye for the artistic and dramatic offer a feast for the senses. I tried to snap photos for social media bragging rights, but I could never do it justice. On this particular trip we were 4 couples for a 5-night getaway and it couldn't have been more perfect. Based on the owners recommendation we had an exceptional dinner in nearby Merida, we hired a wonderful massage therapist to come to the hacienda for a few treatments, we visited nearly a cenote a day - each one more wonderful than the next, climbed the Mayan ruins, and were thrilled at our good fortune that there was a festival/rodeo/bullfight right in their little village the weekend of our visit! But mostly, we just enjoyed this magical place with our big decisions each day being which pool to dip in, which location to watch the sunset from, and what kind of margaritas we would serve at happy hour. If you need to escape the stresses of life, turn back time, rejuvenate - this is where you need to be. And just in case you're not able to fully shut off the outside world (full disclosure - that includes me) they do have wifi ; )

A dream come true

Hacienda Sac Chich was everything we'd expected and some more. We hosted our wedding there and came away with rave reviews. The compound is GORGEOUS but without being pretentious. We will always remember our swims in the well-maintained pools, our outdoor dinners by the fireflies, and our stays in the tastefully decorated bedrooms. As a bonus, the hacienda is easily accessible for those visiting from Merida and Cancun/PDC/Tulum; Cyndy and her house staff were ultra-attentive to all of our needs; and it all came at a reasonable cost. We recommend the Hacienda without reservations to anybody looking for a memorable experience in the Yucatan, and we hope to visit again sooner than later.

IT WAS A DREAM

This place was absolutely STUNNING. Cyndy was such a pleasure to work with. Beyond helpful and accommodating. Also the house staff were lovely. So helpful and kind. Everything about our time and wedding here was amazing. Not a single hiccup or complaint. Loved every moment. Would recommend it 100%

An absolute dream

We had our wedding at Hacienda Sac Chich—it was an absolute dream. We stayed across the lawn at Casa Sisal while some close friends stayed in Casa de Maquinas, where we made mezcal cocktails, dipped in the pool around the clock, and dozed off on the star gazing platforms during the clear, hot nights. The house is beautifully restored from an 1860s henequen plantation with beautiful industrial details intact, of which the 85-foot chimney is mereley the largest. The bedrooms are airy with high ceilings, and each is beautifully arranged with mostly custom furniture—especially the master bedroom in the more newer side of the house, with its sunken settee and private plunge pool. Cyndy, Howie, and the staff were not just warm and attentive hosts but were easygoing in response to the sundry needs that came up surrounding the wedding. We had their staff prepare a delicious dinner (across the firefly-covered lawn at Casa Sisal) and a wedding-day brunch of fruit plates, chilaquiles, and mimosas under the loggia. We also had our reception in Casa de Maquinas’ dramatic courtyard; the kitchen proved a great place for our caterer to set up. The hacienda is near the small village of Acanceh, as well as a number cenotes and ruins—but we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave the grounds. MĂ©rida, the nearest city, is about 40 minutes away and full of fantastic markets, restaurants, and bars (as well as beautiful places to stay for our other guests). We daydreamed about visiting Hacienda Sac Chich before we were engaged, then dreamed about it throughout our engagement—but from the moment we drove through its gates it exceeded those dreams. It’s a truly special place run by truly special people, and we can’t wait to visit again.

Unforgettable and magical

I stayed for 4 nights in the Hacienda Sac Chich with a group of women celebrating a birthday. We had the time of our lives together and because of the magic of Hacienda Sac Chich. The talented and interesting owners kept the Hacienda's original structure and walls which frame the beautifully updated dining, living, sitting, kitchen and sleeping areas of this expansive home. Prepare to be amazed and dumbstruck by the beauty and the details. There are ponds, exotic plantings, rooftop sitting areas, vaulted ceilings and thoughtful lighting throughout. The bedrooms are airy, private, and all the beds are wonderful. We slept to the sounds of water, birds, frogs, gentle breezes in the trees and bamboo each night. The pool is a gem and an oasis of refreshment when it is hot outside. I will never forget this place!

Authentic Mexico

Most people think of the beach for a Mexican vaycay. But there is nothing like the Yucatan for an authentic and truly unique experience. This review of Hacienda Sac Chich requires some history to put the property in context though, so... For almost 100 years, Merida, the capital city of the Yucatan, was the richest city in the world-- thanks to the hefty production of henequen (hemp). Wealthy Spanish families used native Mayans as slave laborers, to plant thousands of hectares (1 hectare = about 2.5 acres ) of henequen plants, harvest the leaves and then produce rope, sisal (named for the Mexican shipping port "Puerto Sisal") or "green gold" as it was later called. These hard-working plantations, demanded gigantic buildings: casas de maquinas (houses of machines) to shelter huge machines brought from Europe, as well as elaborate haciendas for the owners' weekend use. Once nylon entered the market in 1920, all of the gorgeous structures were quickly abandoned. Today they appear everywhere as heaps of rubble consumed by the jungle, unless... you happen to be Cyndy and Howard Berger, who some 13 years ago, recognized the beauty and potential of one such place: Hacienda Sac Chich. Over the past 14 years-- I have visited Sac Chich 6 times in all seasons, and every time it gets better. Every room is a work of art, with hand-made furniture and traditional woven fabrics. The beds and baths are luxuriously simple and complete. And the gardens! The palms and plants are full of birds, and lovely water features are everywhere-- including a beautiful private pool. The entire property is incredibly private within a very bustling village and a magical place for a romantic getaway, family or group gathering, or destination wedding. A wonderful Mayan family has worked for them for years, and the food is traditional, (handmade corn tortillas and salsas daily) and delicious. Or you can shop and cook on your own. There are fascinating places to explore throughout the entire area: cenotes, (deep clear and cold freshwater pools) other haciendas, (rubbled or renovated), Mayan ruins (small and large-- Uxmal is about an hour's drive), Merida-- a magnificent Colonial city, and if you really must get to a beach, you can drive to many that are much less crowded than the Mayan Riviera south of Cancun. What I and most people find though, is you really don't want to leave Hacienda Sac Chich once you arrive. I can't recommend this property highly enough.

HACIENDA SAC CHICH IS AMAZING

We just finished 2 weeks of vacation in the Merida area and rented 3 villas while there. Hacienda Sac CHICH was by far the most wonderful of all. Every detail has been taken care of by the owners. The lovley out door seating areas and pool were perfect for relaxing and all the way to 5 course dinner prepared by a CHEF recommend by the owners. We wish we would have stayed longer at the is country retreat. Definitely will come again. If you like the BEST ... This is it..

Hacienda Sac Chich

The Hacienda Sac Chich is a stunningly beautiful and restored hacienda about 40 miles south of Merida. The main kitchen is large and well equipped, the bathrooms are numerous and large, the bedrooms are well furnished and quite comfortable, there are several lovely outdoor and indoor rooms for socializing, and a lovely small pool. The Hacienda offers a small staff for cleaning. Our Spanish language skills were limited, which constrained interactions. However, the staff was always friendly, charming, and helpful. The location is rural within a very tiny village close to a few somewhat larger villages. We liked the setting and it gave us a sense of the Yucatan apart from its wonderful tourist attractions. We were a group of all women and felt safe in the hacienda and taking walks around the countryside. We'd highly recommend a walk of Acanah, a village about a mile from the Hacienda, to experience its market. It is necessary to have a car to get into Merida and various sites like the Celestun Nature Preserve and the Uxmal Ruins. Our only concern during our wonderful stay was that hot water in several of the bathrooms was erratic. This was a relatively small inconvenience in an overall wonderful place.

Amazing Place

My family stayed for 3 nights at Sac Chich in March, and had a wonderful time. My wife and 4 kids (13,11,9,6) spent a lot of time at the pool, and the owners' dog Eva came over and played one afternoon (which was a huge hit with the kids). The grounds were beautiful, the building was unlike anywhere we stayed before, and it was almost more beautiful at night than during the day. The owners were staying at Casa Sisal next door, and we walked up one morning to check that out as well (very modern, very sleek, a great vacation rental as well). We'd stayed in Merida for a few days before this, so to have all of this open space was a real treat for the kids. We had the staff make breakfasts and dinners for us, and the food was REALLY good, and the "girls" (as Cyndy called them) were very friendly and helpful (it was fun testing our Spanish with them). All in all, we had a great stay, and were very sad leaving our hacienda.

Magical event in a magical place

Family and friends stayed at Hacienda Sac Chich and Casa Sisal for our son's wedding which was fantastic in the most beautiful and magical setting. I can't think of a better place to bring family and friends together in celebration. The renovations and every detail about the place has been well thought out tastefully done, capturing the historic flavor while at the same time not missing any modern convenience we might have needed. We were fortunate to have time after the wedding to just lounge around the Hacienda and to visit Merida and the ruins and cenotes in the area. We hope to return for another visit some day. Thanks Cyndy for all the guidance and support you gave my son and bride-to-be in the wedding planning.

WONDERFUL VACATION

It was a great experence for the entire family (members age from 4 to 73 years ) to stay in Hacienda Sac Chic and Casa Sisal. We had the oportunity of visiting magnificent Mayan ruins and impresive cenotes, but always had the oportunity of enjoying our home in the area so wonderfully taken care of and enjoyfuly and lovely enriched with beautiful and proper decoration. Anyone visiting the Hacienda Sac Chic and Casa Sisal will be privileged.

I have 15 years working in hospitality, and Hacienda Sacchich is the most authentic, charming, and beautiful place in the Yucatan. The unique design, the gardens, the use of local materials, the service, and the management make this place a perfect location to relax and visit the maya world. I really love this place...

Just perfect

We never write reviews, but we wanted to for Hacienda Sac Chich. It was incredible - magical, beautiful, lush and perfectly managed and maintained - a true gem. It was the most beautiful place we have stayed. We celebrated our wedding here and Cyndy was so gracious and helpful, making the process of coordinating so much easier. Everyone commented on how the Hacienda was even more impressive in person - you have to see it to believe it! You can completely relax here and also, lose yourself on the property. It has everything - inviting, unique rooms, stunning architecture, relaxing pools, lush grounds/garden and a lovely staff. We cannot recommend it more, it was a wonderful experience.

Outstanding.....

First off this is the first time I have bothered to review a holiday accomodation and secondly I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else. But in the spirit in which we were received by the most gracious hosts of Casa Sisal I feel duty bound to take the time to give credit where it is due. The property itself is of course stunning. Look at the pictures. It does not disappoint in the flesh and nor is it photographed omitting noisy neighbours or ugly views. Secluded, subtle and an oasis of peaceful calm. Most previous reviews mention the fireflies on the lawn of an evening. I now understand why. Impossible to put into words or indeed film or photograph. What most don't mention is the incredible calm of early morning there. Very special. Good architectural fore thought meant my family of five 'lived' easily in this space. The space works very well. Location wise very convenient for Merida and the week barely gave us time to scratch the surface of all the sites within day trip distance. The Hacienda itself is of course stunning and a great contrast to the clean lines of Casa Sisal. Utterly genuine honest hosts who are as enthused by the houses as we were. A rare find and a true 'keeper'.

First-rate, stunning, & extraordinary!

Words can not describe the luxury and relaxation that is awaiting you at Hacienda Sac Chich. I went on a girls trip to Merida and this home exceeded our expectations. The property and accommodations were exceptional. The home is beautiful and well maintained with secret treasures all over the property. After spending the day sipping margaritas by the pool we would move to the roof where we could watch the sunset or out onto the lush property to watch the fireflies flicker with breath-taking beauty. When we had our fill of relaxation we would go into town to get freshly made tortillas and authentic Mayan cuisine or we would take a day trip to see the Mayan ruins and swim in the underground water caves (cenotes)! The owners were beyond wonderful-super helpful and kind. I highly recommend this property-you will have an unforgettable experience!

Stunning paradise

Hacienda Sac Chich is the most awe inspiring place I have been to - exotic singing birds; lush plants; phenomenal food; refreshing pool and lounging areas; great sound system that can be linked to different areas of the house; star-gazing platform on the roof to watch the sunset and the stars; privacy. It is located perfectly for day trips to cenotes, ruins, the beach and the city, but feels like a complete escape from it all behind the limestone walls and under the royal palms. Spending time here was the trip of a lifetime. A real thinking place.

Amazing Oasis in the Yucatan!

Hacienda Sac Chich is one of the best places I have ever stayed! Located 40 minutes from the Merida airport it is easily accessible. Sac Chich offers a luxury experience in the heart of the Yucatan with easy access to the surrounding sites, such as the city of Merida, off the beaten path cenotes-where you will be the only one exploring the water caves, Mayan ruins, outdoor markets, and exploring the local scene. You can ride a bike to pick up freshly made corn tortillas and frozen fruit bars. The property houses spacious bedrooms with queen/king beds and individual bedrooms. There are small ponds full of lily pads and frogs, palm trees, and nothing but green surrounding you. You will have a pool all to yourself that is perfect for sipping freshly made margaritas and reading a book. There is a roof top to watch the sunsets, bocce ball, a field full of fireflies at night and a great sound system, in case you want to have a dance party. Everything is clean and well taken care of. The owners are more than happy to supply you with where to shop/dine, the best keep secrets of the area, maps with directions to everything and any other help you need. Staying here we had privacy, quiet, comfort, easy access to exploring and a place that felt like we had a home during our vacation. There is nothing negative I can say about my stay here. I would highly recommend Hacienda Sac Chich to anyone who is looking for a cultural Mexico experience.

I have stayed at Hacienda Sac Chich several times and look forward to the feeling of calm the minute I get there. The owners have mixed Mayan history with easy luxury. (I mean - fabulous all-cotton sheets, fluffy pillows and plush Turkish towels! Among many other things - all of the wonderful fabrics, candles, furnishings!). I adore the ambience of sheer grand-ness. We wake up to rustling palms and trills of the cellphone/slide-whistle birds (my own term, but you'll find that's what they sound like...). At dusk, fireflies sparkle over the great lawn of Casa Sisal. You want to chase them in the grass. Sac Chich is absolutely majestic. I look in awe at the 20-ft high ceilings, ochre colored walls, massive old stone work and huge mahogany doors It was the Casa de Maquina, after all, and has machinery in its beginnings. The property is lush with every kind of tropical greenery - palms of every kind, ginger plants, hibiscus, and bougainvilleas.The staff is always attentive and caring, just ask. You can totally linger at the hacienda and enjoy it in itself or venture away to explore. It's an easy half-day trip to the cenotes, henequen plantations, and famous Mayan ruins. We like the lesser known ones that are closer and more fun! Visit nearby colorful villages such as Acanceh or Tixcocob - the hammock town- or spend several days exploring Merida, capital city of Yucatan. Relax poolside or read email in the huge open-air loggia. At night, everyone in the world becomes a kid again star gazing from the roof top. The grand circular stairway to the roof is also an architectural marvel. For me, my favorite thing is to cocoon in the courtyard with books and wine, enjoying the ever changing Yucatan sky overhead. You won 't regret or forget your stay here!

AMAZING!

My (recently new) fiancé and I stayed for a week at Casa Sisal after stumbling upon it online while planning our Mexican holiday from Australia. We were both immensely blown away with our experience at Casa Sisal. I would highly recommend (and have been) staying here. Cyndy, the owner is very kind and aims to please. I coordinated with her to plan the surprise proposal for our engagement during our stay at Casa Sisal. it couldn't have been planned any better and Cyndy was very helpful in arranging everything we needed prior to arrival. She arranged a beautiful table with flowers and candles and recommended a great private chef. An unforgettable night. Right from the front gate, the perfectly manicured grounds, the house, the location and the facilities are AMAZING. The house has everything you need to stay comfortable as if you had never left home. Although it's location is not right in town, travelling by car is easy and a fun adventure. It also makes it easy to see other towns and sights in the area. Maps and guides of the area made by Cyndy are also very helpful. Honestly, we have never been to such an amazing getaway in all our travels and will definitely be a returning, even all the way from Australia.

Casa Sisal - Living the dream

Casa Sisal is an architectural masterpiece and without doubt the most incredible place we ever imagined staying! Amazingly when we arrived it was even more astounding than we thought possible. Everything about the property and gardens was completely effortless. Everything was where you wanted it to be if you had designed it specifically for yourself! The kitchen, sunken lounge area, pool, bedrooms and huge open windows all set off by the elegant and stylish furnishings. Around every corner is another interesting view or stunning vista. This alone would have made our honeymoon stay unforgettable. However, we also had the incredible service and attention from Cyndy (the owner - accessible remotely from about 3 months before we arrived to a fortnight after!) and the ladies and gentlemen who prepared our food, kept the house spotless and the gardens effortlessly manicured. The location is also perfect for exploring the area, though, once you arrive it is almost impossible to leave the house.. Finally I actually cannot believe the incredible value of it. We have paid 4 or 5 times this to stay in places that will not hold such as happy place in our heart as Casa Sisal.

Fantastic

I came with my five year old, two year old, wife, father and step-mother. We had an abundance of rooms and hope to return with a larger group. The house is beautiful, the grounds are lovely, the staff perfect. At first the towns around the very luxurious hacienda seem impoverished, but as you stay longer you will notice a real living community, that is very interesting and seems connected by real values, and then you will begin to find treasures all around you. Or you can just stay on the grounds and be perfectly happy in your own private resort. We will return, though next time via the Merida airport instead of Cancun, and we will stop at the Walmart on the way out of town to load up on food for our very particular little kids, but I would also ask the staff to cook more nights, the one time we did it, the meal was excellent. The relationship to the other house gives plenty of distance, but is also close enough that taking both houses for a really large group would work very well. Anyway, I highly recommend this house, I don't have as single criticism. Perfect.

Dream Mayan Vacation Retreat

Wow -- we had seen the pictures but they paled in comparison to Hacienda Sac Chich in person. We were blown away by every luxurious detail from the exquisite colonial and modern architecture of both buildings and the fabulous appointments of every room on the property to the drop-dead beauty of the pools, gardens and grounds. We felt like Kings and Queens since we had the entire Hacienda to ourselves. We relaxed by the pool, savored candlelight dinners in the magic of the bodega, climbed to the rooftop viewing area for star-gazing, played a little bocce ball, read in the soaking tub, and enjoyed huevos ranchos and other delights prepared by the lovely Yucatacan ladies in the comfort of the traditional mayan kitchen. Everything was perfect. We loved how close Hacienda Sac Chich is to all the sites of the Peninsula -- we drove to the mayan ruins, several fascinating cenotes, and to the Gulf where we savored cervesas under yalapas, viewed the flamingos in Celestun and toured the walled city of Campeche. It is all close by. The best part of every day was returning to the comfortable elegance of the Hacienda for margaritas and a dip in the exquisite pool. We will return again and can't wait to have a family gathering there in Sac Chich. It surpassed our expectations!

Being frequent visitors to the Pacific beaches and colonial central Mexico since the 70's we read about the restored haciendas of the Yucatan. In 2001 we went on the first of many 'hacienda hopping' trips to the Yucatan. The grandeur, architectural scale, historical and economic relevance and process of restoration of these haciendas intrigued us and soon we were researching haciendas for sale on the internet. It wasn't until we rented a Hacienda for my 50th Birthday in 2003 that we experienced a sense of ownership while entertaining friends and family there. On that trip we toured hacienda Sac Chich, shortly thereafter made an offer and 5 months later it was ours. Sac Chich was the first and only hacienda we looked at for sale.
We always knew we would someday have a home in Mexico, but always envisioned the Pacific coast or colonial interior. The Yucatan became the pure isolated uncomplicated Mexico that we remembered from travels 30 years ago.
