Welcome to the great outdoors! This home features several amenities to help you enjoy your time out in this little mountain town. The entire group can come together on the deck and cook up some delicious grub on the private gas grill while the sun shines. When the weather outside is frightful, the wood-burning stove is so delightful. The private washer/dryer can help keep all the swimsuits organized and ready to go. Come and enjoy the sounds of birdsong from this delightful mountain town retreat!

The Bird House is located in the neighborhood of West Village, walking distance into the beautiful town of Shaver - perfect for picking up an al pastor tacos from Osito's Mexican Pub before heading up to the lake. Shaver Lake itself (if you're going the way of Dorabelle Picnic Site) is just shy of a mile away. OR Shaver Lake itself (if you're going the way of Camp Edison Day Use Beach) is just one mile away. Be sure to visit the Central Sierra Historical Society for history lessons and photo opps on the weekends, also just one mile from the home!

Cozy Cabin

Pictures didn’t exactly match, but the property was well kept and very cost for us. Loved the fire pit outside. Plenty of room for the family and so close to market and restaurants. Will definitely consider booking again.

Cute home , lacking cleanliness

The host was on it from the moment we checked in . But the lack of cleanliness does this cute cabin a dis service. Everything was just dirty. From the stove to the carpets , dust , and the sheets on the bed 2 flat sheets I pulled comforter off and it was absolutely gross . For no pets allowed sheets had human hair pet hair crumbs . They offer to send soDone to clean but given we were not gonna be in space we declined. It’s due for a major deep clean . The house has so much to offer , but the cleanliness is definitely lacking .

Love the bird house

It was a great stay good location and a lot of space. We had a plumbing issue about 10 pm called and spoke with customer service. That’s was about it. All in all great friends and great trip.

Boys trip

Location was excellent. The town was short walk and offered everything we cld need in the mtns. Cabin cld use some TLC. It was nice but dated. Combared to other VRBOs I've used, it was on the lower end. All in all, it worked for my boys and I as a base for us to explore the region.

No toilet paper!!!

While we did enjoy our stay, we had to run to the store and buy toilet paper and there was dirty towels left in the bathroom.

Comfy home in great location

The house was perfect for my work/vacation. I work remotely and need fast internet access and the Wi-Fi was perfect. The house has a living room, master bed room, kitchen and bathroom on the first floor and two more bedrooms upstairs. I think it’s the perfect size for 4-6 people. I never used the car and walked to restaurants and to the lake. Around the neighborhood are very nice trails and everything is in pristine shape. The lake has everything for boating, fishing and swimming. Yosemite is ~2 hours away and a great national park to visit. I hope to come back some day …

Nice cabin

Loved the location and being able to walk to about everything in Shaver. We were there during a real heat wave. 108 in Fresno. So we used 3 fans in the house to try to cool it down. But we knew there wasn’t AC - just didn’t know we would be there in such a hot week We only used the downstairs bedroom. Better lighting would be a big help. Can’t see what is in the dresser in the closet without a flashlight , and although the lamps in the living area are for 3 way bulbs, there were only low watt bulbs so there wasn’t enough light to read by We also had sugar ants invade the kitchen. We then put all food in the fridge to see what was left All in all it was great for what we wanted but a few improvements to lighting, storage would be very helpful. And we would go back!

Very Homey!

This was our 2nd year staying here. It was very homey and cozy. We love this house. The amenities here. It's just like home. The stores are conveniently close and if you wanted to, you can walk there. Shaver lake is about an 8 min drive. I recommend this cute little house.

Loved this cabin!

We really loved our stay here and truly wish that we could buy the place, it has all of the little amenities that made our time there east and convenient. All the beds were comfortable with mattress toppers, the kitchen was stocked with utensils and dishes, and the patio was well equipped with a patio heater, bbq, fire pit, lounge chairs, picnic tables, string lights and more. We really loved this place and will come regularly!

March in Shaver

Finding the cabin was easy enough and just enough space for a family of four with 2 small children. We went at a time when there was just enough snow on the ground to keep a toddler busy and not be overwhelmed by too many vacationers. The cabin, once heated, stayed nicely warm and was well furnished without feeling cramped. If the shower stops when you first turn on the water for the cabin, remove the shower head and clear out the rust and you’ll be good to go! A peaceful stay overall. Beds are firm, the pillows poofy and there is a very comfy recliner with soft extra blankets.

Relax at the bird house

Over all was a nice stay. Wish it was advertised as what the true cost was. The late check in was a bit annoying. However, we did enjoy ourselves. It was nice. Clean definitely a mountain cabin as long as you stayed inside.

Girls trip 21

Stayed for 2 nights with my mom and sisters We enjoyed every minute of it! The house was clean and didn't have a funky smell when walking in. We couldn't find a broom to sweep the inside which was a bummer because we didn't like leaving any mess on the floor. For the first time we got to see snow falling. It was so beautiful when we woke up! Already missing the crisp cool air and the wrap around deck! We'll definitely be back! Thank you for letting us enjoy some peace and quiet in your home!
