True and full oceanfront condo with a lanai (balcony) that almost hangs over the beach. See the ponds below where the turtle and the eels want to come and feed. Let the sounds of the sea make you sleep after a day of sightseeing or relaxation. Both the bedroom and living room face the sea, where dolphins can be seen all year round and whales in season.

Two lanai-high bistros are on the lanai.

Hale Kona Kai is an intimate, absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condos. Located on the outskirts of Kona City, it is off the main road providing calm, ocean-view relaxation from every module. Located just south of Royal Kona Resort, excellent dining at Huggo's or Don Beachcomber's is a two-minute walk away and other restaurants are just a fun stroll away. The white sand of Honl's Beach is less than a quarter-mile south and the Kona Farmer's Market half a mile north.

The complex offers an elevator that provides convenient access for all. On the ocean side, you'll find a heated saltwater swimming pool and a grill on the south end of the complex. Each floor has coin-operated washers and dryers for your use. Each condo does not have its own washer/dryer.

Each unit includes designated parking, safe WIFI, & cable TV. Both units, like Lanais, are non-smoking and Hale Kona Kai is non-smoking.

Fantastic week away

Staying here was great for the location. The unit is literally above the ocean, providing a gorgeous sunset view and the best natural white noise to sleep with. Very close, but not directly in the heart of the action of town. Easy walking around to shopping, dining, kayaking and snorkelling. If we get back to the area, we would likely stay in the same building.

what a gorgeous spot. We loved relaxing on the porch with coffee and lots of wonderful wave sounds and ocean views. It was a delightful place to stay. It had everythng we needed for our vacation stay

The view!

The most wonderful part about this was the amazing view, watching the ocean right below you was peaceful. The location was in walking distance of a lot of fun things to see and do. Loved my stay and the host was very responsive :)

The condo location was very good. We have stayed in the complex numerous times for that reason. The unit itself was very dated and needs a complete remodel and update. The guests that were in the unit above us were very loud and stomping on the floor at all hours that made our time in the unit very uncomfortable.

It's all about the view and location

Kona Hale Kai has been our choice for the last 12 years! Can't beat the ocean views from both living area and the bedroom Quiet location but easy walking to town 304 is our favorite to escape our Alaska winters!

Awesome location!

The crashing sound of the waves! Wow you can't be any closer - just a short walk to downtown to access excellent food, farmer's market, a great walk along the water. Easy access to snorkeling beaches. Nice to have beach towels, chairs. Visiting the pool overlooking the water is refreshing.

Another Great Stay

We are frequent visitors to Kona and our favorite place to stay is the Hale Kona Kai. Unit 304 was clean and comfortable and adequately equipped with everything we needed. You can't beat the absolute ocean front lanai and the sunsets. Love it!

Just do it!

In real estate it's all about location. You are right above the ocean and crashing waves. So close to main drag in Kona. I would return without hesitation. To top it off got to see Henry Kapono unexpectedly play next door. Mahalo

Beautiful view, central location. Apartment well furnished. Unfortunately, carpet everwhere locks in humidity and allergens despite AC, making nights rather uncomfortable.

Great location, adequate unit

Condo is RIGHT on the ocean, location is amazing! Interior is tired but adequate — “air conditioning” means two noisy portable units for condo as regular A/C seems to be permanently out of order. Linens, bedding and bed are well-lived in. Nice pool area right on the ocean, and very close by to lots of great restaurant and bar options.

Another Wonderful Month in Kona

We have been coming to Kona for years and staying at the HaleKonaKai. It's our chance to escape the Alaska winters and enjoy the beauty and warmth of Hawaii. Unit 304 is our favorite, with comfortable furnishings and well stocked kitchen The view from our lanai is amazing! The grounds and pool area are immaculate. The staff has always been helpful with any problems that arise All and all a wonderful experience!

Great location

Overall happy with condo but smelled musty. A/C system was not working effectively given how humid it was. Carpet into bedroom was wet from humidity or system not working properly. System outdated. Very tired looking bathtub. Aside from the mustiness, didn't mind age of everything as it was clean and great location.

HKK 304

We love Hale Kona Kai and have stayed there several times in various units. Unit 304 is our least favorite of all the ones we have visited. Bathroom is cramped and needs a remodel, the bed was not comfortable and is overdue for a changeout and kitchen was crowded (tiny microwave). I realize there are limitations on what can be done to kitchen and bathroom but other units have successfully upgraded. We still had a great stay!

The condo needs numerous

The condo needs numerous repairs . The main item is the sliding door to the deck. Very hard to open .Maintenance man knows on the problem. Need new wash cloths. The one there are really bad. Walls are banged up . Baseboards are poor. Too many big chairs on deck. Furniture is too much and too big for the area.Great location and outlook. Unit needs professional upgrade. Also need kitchen towels and scrub sponge. Shower needs repair, water comes from shower head as well as main outlet.

Could not get a better location and view of the price

The place is clean and the furniture is comfortable. The view is fantastic and you can walk all of Kona from this location with no problem. Given the close location to all the bars and shops it is still a very quiet place where the only noise you will hear is the waves of the ocean. Everything was working when we were there including the AC unit. If you are planning on cooking a lot you may want to bring some spices from home but they have all the pots, pans, plates you would need for cooking. It was a little musty smelling but I think that is a given as it is right on the water. There is a privacy screen front door you can keep open and if you leave the slider open it clears out well. This is what all the neighbors do as well. There is no fan I’m the bathroom so i would recommend bringing some poop-pourei and you can move one of the fans near the bathroom to clear out any lingering smell or dampness from taking a shower. Laundry and trash are on the same level next to the stairs and elevator which is convenient. The pool was very nice and was almost never busy. You will see a lot of wildlife in the lava rocks below and just out front your view. I would definitely stay here again and think this place would be a win for anyone. Thumbs up on this place.

great view from balcony

As discussed with Adeline, the view from units balcony is awesome . Nice well equipped modern Kitchen and updated separate bathroom sink, bathroom freshly painted. The unit is decorated in Hawaiian theme and was very clean. However, it is located in a very old building. The pool and grounds very well maintained and sunbeds lovely to lay on , right on the ocean . The grounds staff and Adeline friendly and helpful. However first impressions on arrival at front door of unit not great . Front doors shabby and need replacing , must not have been rented out for some time as the musty , mouldy smell on entering was dreadful , the balcony not been cleaned for our arrival, this should have been inspected prior to our arrival. we opened all the windows and doors hoping this would help, but it didnt. It appeared the smell is in the carpet. I discussed with Adeline and she advised would refund the cleaning fee. Also as was coming into the weekend and she wouldnt be there she advised she would have the cleaner drop off a humidifier on Saturday. As we didnt want to wait around for the cleaner , we said we would accept the cleaning fee refund. Given the price we paid for the unit and the photos we saw , it didnt meet our expectations We wouldnt recommend this unit complex as we felt it was overpriced for for the overall condition of the building and the issues as stated above.
