Exceeded Every Expectation

Jane was the perfect host. She was very in tune with our needs. For instance, I mentioned to her that we were planning a cookout. I noticed that she had put the hotdog and marshmallow sticks on a small desk in the kitchen - so we wouldn't have to hunt for them. The house is even more beautiful in person than it is in the photos. We rented the house for 5 days for a vacation with our four sons and daughters-in-law. The space is large enough that we all had enough space for time alone, time in small groups, and time with all of us in one room. Everything was delightful and we'd definitely book the house again in the future.

Duerst House was perfect for our girls’ golf trip. We had so much fun exploring New Glarus and the surrounding area. Jane was a great host and the house was perfect. Highly recommend!!! We’ll definitely be back.

Wonderful home!

We had a girls trip at this beautiful home. It was beyond clean, comfortable beds, Jane was so easy to work with and suggested wonderful places to check out. This home has so many rooms and nooks and crannies. So much room and all original and clean! I would not hesitate to stay here again! Can’t wait!

Cousin Get Together

It’d been 19 years since we all got together last!! We had a great weekend hanging out and catching up. The Duerst House was just perfect! Plenty of beautiful and homey space to enjoy. It had everything we needed and was just a couple blocks from eating and shopping.

Beautiful Home In a Great Neighborhood!!

This is a beautiful older home in a great neighborhood. It’s very spacious and had everything we needed for a wonderful girls’ trip. The check out process was one of the easiest we have ever done. The house is very close to the quaint and fun downtown area, with shops, restaurants, and bars.

Great place to stay

The house is huge with lots of character! We loved that it fit all seven of us comfortably. It was within walking distance to downtown New Glarus and the Sugar River Trail. The house had plenty of space to hang out in and there were lots of extra pillows and blankets. Thanks for a great space to spend the weekend, Jane!

New Years Getaway

Two families stayed at this lovely New Glarus home and had a memorable New Year celebration. The house was full of wonderful charm and impeccably clean. We were able to walk to the main downtown and close enough to drive to neighboring towns and attractions. Thanks for the stay!

One of the Best I've Ever Stayed At.

The co-owner of the Duerst Guest Home is named Jane. She was a gracious host from start to finish. Rarely does a listing actually "under-sell" the property but I am here to tell you that this home is so much better than depicted in the listing. The listing accurately accounts for the number of guests, number of bathrooms, and basic amenities. But the listing does not tell you how historic and beautiful the home is. The home was built in the early 20th century and has been wonderfully updated with modern amenities while preserving the charm of the original house. It has the built in - absolutely stunning - solid oak doors, cabinets, trim and curios throughout. The registers and knobs are antique and the house is so opulent and grand. I just can't rave enough about this property. We will definitely be going back again. This is a rare find on Vrbo. If I could have given 6-stars, I would have. Thank you, Jane.

A Treasure

A gorgeous home full of warmth, comfort and beauty. It was a treasure to explore with many surprises! It was completely furnished with everything any group could want or need. Strongly recommended as a place to stay. The host was very responsive and friendly.

Comfortable, beautiful home

Just a few minute walk from downtown New Glarus and 40 minute drive to Madison, this was a great home base for our short stay. More than enough room to visit and a very well equipped kitchen. The house is in beautiful shape and would love to stay in the summer when we could take advantage of the porch and backyard..

Awesome Accommodations

This is a beautiful home that was perfect for our book club 25th anniversary trip. There were six of us and there were plenty of bedrooms, beds and seating areas for all of us to enjoy spending a couple days together. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants of New Glarus and ventured to other small towns in the area. We would definitely stay here again.
