Nice, but not for snowbirds
The location near the beaches was great. However, when we arrived, we were very disappointed that the living space was not on the first floor. Neither property descriptions, nor the website photos, gave any indication it was otherwise. This meant going up and down stairs many times a day. That should be fine for those staying a few days or a week, but we're too old for that. Sadly, we booked three months and it literally was so painful that we left three weeks early. It is NOT first floor living and, yes, we should have asked. My bad.In addition to misjudging the layout, the rental unit had many issues from minor ones we fixed ourselves all the way up to what I think are code violations (I was a building inspector before retiring). If I list them here, it will sound like I am a complainer, so I won't do that. But, I did give the list to the property manager to deal with as they see fit. You probably want an example issue for context? In the bunk bed room, the folding closet door wouldn't stay in the track and it fell out/off completely each time we used it. Another? We tried the emergency contact number and it was disconnected.We enjoyed the area immensely. We also enjoyed visiting with neighboring renters and we found out not all units are configured like this one. So, we will come back to Santa Rosa Beach in the future. Just not this particular unit.
