Located right along the water, the sand and surf are mere steps from the house, giving you unparalleled beach access. Even better is the fact that scenic parks, charters, a water park, golf courses, and numerous local restaurants to sample are only a short drive away.

Back at your oceanfront retreat, step through the door to be greeted by a completely remodeled house with new appliances, an updated kitchen and bathrooms, and a new mini-split system to ensure everyone remains cool while here. Unwind comfortably in the living area watching something on TV or gaze outside at the sparkling water nearby. The well-equipped kitchen is sure to please the group chef and has everything needed to make small snacks, entire meals, and everything else in between. Indulge together at the table before heading out to the deck to lounge comfortably as the crisp North Carolina air brushes against your face and the sun sets. After exciting days of exploration and frolicking in the sand, know all of the bedrooms will provide a serene night's rest. Additional conveniences include a washer/dryer, free WiFi, and three of the bedrooms having their own TVs for private viewing.

Location excellent

We loved the location and views make up for the furniture and beds not being very comfy. The living room had mixed reviews from our party. The private path to the beach and seeing our family from the porch was ideal.

Austin Cottage in Holden Beach

We really liked this house. It has a nice layout that easily accomodated our party of 5. It is an easy walk to the beach and a great view from the poarch. I would recommend taking a mattress topper for the bed and do not rely on the fenced area for your dog.

Beautiful location and easy access to beach

House was clean, small but perfect, we were outside most of the time. beds are old and need some love, but it didn't dampen our stay. host was very responsive and easy to work with. We will stay again.

Almost a perfect house

The view from this house was amazing. I spent so much time sitting in the rocking chairs, enjoying the breeze, and the ocean. It was perfect! I knew from other reviews that the beds were horrible, and I agree! My husband spent most nights on the couch. If they upgraded their beds and got some comfy chairs for the living area, then this place would be incredible! Everyone had a great time at the beach, and we appreciate that this house is dog friendly. We would definitely rent this house again and hope that they will upgrade the mattresses. Thanks for a great week at the beach!

Cozy

The property was perfect. Cozy, comfortable. The view from the deck was breath taking. I wanted to be able to feel the breeze from the ocean, hear the waves and smell the salt air. We have been looking for a place to rent yearly. This is it. I think we have found our spot.

The location was great. The house was set up nicely for 6 people. 8 would have been a stretch.The furniture is old and some of it even broken. Very uncomfortable even a for rental.The rocking chairs on the porch are falling apart.There is no outdoor table on the large deck.

Great location, VERY outdated furniture and houseware

This area of Holden Beach was not very busy but still convenient. This was a big plus for us. We brought our dog and the fenced in area made it so easy. The fence does have some holes so it would require supervision of a small dog. The home is quite small (looks bigger in pictures). We lucked out that the days were nice so we didn’t have to be stuck inside. The beds are squeaky and old- like old spring mattresses. Dining room chairs need to be replaced. The kitchen lacks silverware for the number of guests allowed. Washer and dryer is in one of the bedrooms which was very convenient. Very specific for those with small kids- there are no curtains so the bedrooms are BRIGHT early in the morning and during nap. Ours adjusted quickly but FYI in case yours are not used to that. Overall, we liked the home location. It fits my small family well. We would love to return if furniture was updated.

Amazing location.

The Austin Cottage is a perfect getaway destination! Lovely porch, dog-friendly yard, and steps away to the beach. The location is quiet and relaxing. I will definitely revisit this home.

Beatiful Views

Great house, great location, great beach views and access from roomy back porch. The mini splits made it great to be able to adjust temp different for each room. If Funiture gets updated we would consider staying here again.

Wonderful Holden Experience

My family has been going to Holden Beach since the 50's and we were delighted by this home for our small group. The home was very clean when we arrived and had a gorgeous view of the ocean on east part of the island.

Great location and perfect Simple home for small family

Loved the location, the amount of rooms, and the underneath space. The view is incredible. Quiet end of the Main Street so not too much traffic. Only complaints are: some dog hair leftover on the floor from previously renters, and two Of the rooms had very very loud squeaky creaky beds. Otherwise incredible cleanliness and location!

Not too bad

We watched this home get remodeled a couple years ago, and had high hopes for our stay. However, for being so recently renovated, it fell a bit short. The flooring is new, along with the bathrooms, and the mini-split system is very nice. However, I will pile on with everyone else, the furniture that is there needs attention. I feel like they just put in the old furniture after the remodel, and it doesn't feel cohesive. The beds are maginal at best - some of the worst nights sleep I've had. The chairs at the dining room table are worn and very uncomfortable. There was a lack of hanging space, especially in the front east bedroom that has the water heater in the closet. Cleanliness was ok - the shower curtain liners were moldy at the bottom. We saw more than the typical amount of Oriental Cockroaches - we killed at least 5 and but couldn't get the one that would keep hiding in the dishwasher. Another curiosity is that none of the windows facing the beach have screens - so opening them exposes the home to bugs. Overall, this place is just ok.

Beach house with view

We enjoyed our stay. The location was great, view was wonderful and there was a short walk to the beach from the back porch. Kitchen (well stocked) and bathrooms were updated. Negatives: They need to replace mattresses. Yard is not usable for pets due to the large amount of cockleburs. Need new covers on couch, one cushion had broken zipper.

Beautiful Home but...

Very nicely renovated home in a quiet neighborhood. Everything was great but they REALLY need to update the beds. They were VERY loud. Every time you got in or out of the bed or rolled over they were squeaked extremely loud and we never got a good nights sleep. Hopefully they accept our feedback and make changes to the beds.

Great house, beds need updating!

The house was great! Did not have enough toilet paper to last our trip and only had a half roll of paper towels for the entire week, so we had to ask for more and also buy our own to last. There was also no cleaner or disinfectant to use to wipe down or clean anything. The only major thing I would update were the mattresses and the bed frames… they were all very old and out dated. All beds were extremely uncomfortable and made SO much noise with every shift or movement. If the beds were updated, we would rent again! The overall location and the house itself was perfect, just need to update those beds.

Prime location and nicely renovated home

This home is nicely updated and a beautiful place to spend time. Wifi was fast, the kitchen was well-stocked, and we appreciated the toiletries and basics left in the house that made the stay easier. We would recommend updating the furniture and especially the beds because unfortunately they were outdated and uncomfortable. With those changes, we would definitely recommend this house!

Happy Days

We rented this house years ago when my oldest son was a baby. 20+ years later and its like taking a step back in time. Everything is almost the same. Simple family life.(Just ignore the WIFI and TV and Dishwasher and microwave) Screened in porch is my favorite with the rocking chairs. Our 4th time being in this house and hopefully we will be able to come again. We love Austin Cottage

Had a great time but disappointed

The location of this home is wonderful and very close to the bridge to take you off the island. The view was great and very close to the ocean. The reason my family and I have decided to give three stars is because of the lack of basic cleanliness throughout the house. The kitchen drawers were dirty and extremely unorganized. Some of the utensils had dried food on them. It looks like they have never cleaned under the beds or the furniture in the living room. We pulled out the cushions of the couch and it had a ton of stuff in it. There was old dog food underneath the couch as well. It was expected for the house to not be perfect or up to date due to the price we were paying. But we did expect basic cleanliness considering the pandemic as well as the fact that we are paying to stay in a clean home. We saw multiple roaches in the house but we are aware that they are common in beachfront homes due to moisture but still disturbing. My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Austin cottage but these conditions were disappointing.
