Pros- the location is a nice short walk to the beach. The house was clean and free of clutter. Decent view of the sunset and the neighbors are kind and have beautiful gardens.Cons- the cleaning staff does what they can with what they are given. Bathrooms and linens were clean and the floors are new. But the overwhelming smell of old pet urine or smoke or all of the above distract from all the upsides. We’ve done a good share of VRBO or Airbnb stays and this was by far the most disappointing. Which leads me to be hyper critical of the fact that there are not enough dishes to feed a family of 6, nor sufficient pots and pans to do actual cooking. The lack of deck chairs to utilize the porch to enjoy the view was a clear miss for a beach house. And the rusted shower rod and lack of consistent water temperature in the shower was the last straw. We enjoyed the area and would return to to a different place.

Basic but most of what you need

Really nice firepit in backyard.Very close to a remote and uncrowded beach--great for families with small kids.No salt and pepper.One bathroom for eight worked okay.Few socks left from previous occupants.There were some ants, but not too big a deal.

Good location but house needs some more love

Didn't meet our expectations. Let's start with the positives. The proximity to beach is a plus. It's just 6 minutes walk from the house to the beach. Instructions were clear on how to get in and get out and how to use the locks. The area where the house is situated is good. The house was generally clean but there were a few spots like at the vents , some windows and sliding doors that they missed to clean. A big minus for us was the lack of a grill. We were planning for campfire but the outside area did not have proper seating. All the chairs they had were either rusty or for kids. They had a picnic bench sort of thing on the deck away from fire place. There was no light on the deck. Looks like it was out for a long long time and nobody fixed it. So we didn't take the kids outside as the fire pit was near a grassy area and it was very dark. There were a lot of toys for the kids and games. But it was all dumped into one big box not properly organized. Another negative is the beds. They had some kind of plastic lining which constantly makes a sound while we turn. It was loud enough to wake up my daughter who was sleeping in the other bed. Had a tough time getting good sleep on the first day. My daughter decided not to use the bed and instead slept on the sofa on day 2. In short the location is great but the house needs some love and with a little bit of work it could be more inviting and guest would have a great experience.

Great getaway!

No fills beach house was very nice for our family. Lots of space on the upper level, and a great game bin! While the bathrooms and decor were a bit outdated, everything was clean and tidy. Great value compared to similar options in Seaside or Manzanita.

Great location

Very happy with our stay. The house was clean and spacious. The rooms were a good size and the kitchen was stocked with utensils and cookware. My favorite aspect was the closeness to the beach, its just a short walk away, which was important as we spent most of our time sitting down on the sand watching the waves and the local wildlife. I would recommend this rental to anyone planning to vacation in the Cape Meares/Tillamook area. We would stay here again.

Excellent value for a lovely stay

Things were clean and orderly upon arrival! The house is a great size with a nice deck and backyard. And very close to the beach, where we has a small campfire and watched the sunset. I'd definitely recommend this house to a friend.

Great location,, disappointing experience

The price to rent this house is very reasonable, however, unless you are an extreme minimalist or live close enough to drive with a packed car, be aware of the areas lacking in the house. We stayed for three nights in September. It was close to 90 out during our stay, but the house doesn't have air conditioning or a single fan. The only ceiling fan is broken, and the screens were in such poor shape that we had hundreds of bugs come in when we opened the windows to cool the house down. A few fans would have made a difference in comfort. The beds were uncomfortable as has been noted in other reviews. My sister and I used the room with twin beds, which were obviously planned for kids. The mattresses are very cheap, camp-type mattresses with plastic covers- very noisy to sleep on. My mom had a queen bed with a heavy, winter- weight comforter while the twin beds only had a top sheet and blanket. None of us got great sleep. And the kitchen- poorly stocked is an understatement. Salt, pepper- yes. Other spices, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, nonstick spray? No. We actually planned to cook and eat in, but had to get creative to prepare meals with the pack of amenities. Overall, if you are looking for an extremely budget friendly vacation spot, this is a good choice. Very close to the beach and Tillamook for things to do. I think we would have paid more for a better-appointed house- the lack of extras felt like it took away from the experience. This is a newer vacation rental, and with a few upgrades could be a really fantastic place in the future.

Cozy, short walk to beach

The kitchen was well stocked and the house was clean. However, there was a lot of cobwebs, spider webs, and lots, and lots of spiders. All beds were uncomfortable, sunken in, and you can feel the springs. There was only one working porch light which made it very difficult to see outside during dusk. The back yard was nice, however everything was covered in spiders.

Nice house, lots of room, tons of kitchen tools!

We loved the location, it was a short walk to a nice beach. The house could have been a tad cleaner. Perfect for small babies, kids and teens. We enjoyed our stay! The pull out bed was the most comfortable bed. Lots of towels and a full functional kitchen!

Fantastic location and family friendly

We could not have asked for a better location! The house is a mere 2 blocks from a sandy beach where we enjoyed playing and relaxing as a family. I was very impressed especially with the options available for my kids (ages 2 and 4) at the house -- a well-stocked bookshelf of children's books, a toy box of miscellaneous and random toys, and LOTS of game options, even for their young ages. It made our stay much more enjoyable for all! My only complaints were scratchy bed linens, less than fantastic mattresses, and brand new unwashed towels that left your wet body covered in white fuzz. And a missing hair dryer which was specifically mentioned as an amenity...I would have happily packed one except the listing said one was provided. Also, there is absolutely nothing provided in the cupboards or fridge as far as spices or condiments or even coffee or tea. Still, the house met our needs quite well and we made some great memories as a family!

Wouldn’t return

The ground floor absolutely reeked of cat piss. The smell was overwhelming, even though I have my own cats at home. The light fixtures in two of the bedrooms were industrial fluorescent tube lighting which were very unpleasant. The shower seems to have a leak or some kind of plumbing issue behind the wall and the dripping sound could be heard all the way down the hall in the farther bedroom. The bathroom floor mats were padded with foam and were soaking wet, which is really gross not knowing what they’d soaked up. The glass on the flat-top stove was broken. There was a huge jagged sharp-edged hole over the back left burner which they’d tried to cover with a teapot. The dishwasher was full of dishes. The dining table was lit with extremely bright LED bulbs that gave the same light as the fluorescent lights in the bedroom. It might seem like a petty complaint, but it was a jarring mismatch with all the other light fixtures. Overall it was cheaply furnished and way overpriced.

Impressed and pleased

The kids loved the entire house. It was super clean, couldn't even pick apart the house the cleaner did amazing work, could use some better kitchen knives and the bed sucked but I'm giving it a 5 start because the house keeper deserves it!!! Way to go keep it up

Nice place great location to the beach and quiet!

The house was wonderful. It was a nice location for us. From what I understand we are the first to rent the place. The reason I gave it 3 stars was the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The kitchen could use a few extra items such as coffee filters and some some odds and ends to make a more complete kitchen. As a rental owner myself I know that can take time. I loved the decor and my daughter loved the books. It was a nice stay. Thank you for allowing us to use your home!
