## Emplacement
Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire is the fifth-largest city in the Pays de la Loire region, in the Loire-Atlantique département. It lies on the banks of the Loire, just four kilometers from Nantes. An ancient Celtic settlement, it was later dominated by the Gallo-Romans. A former stronghold of the Duchy of Brittany, Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire became part of the French kingdom in the early 16th century. Although it is now urbanized, the commune has long been an important market-gardening center, particularly for wheat and vines. Dynamic and full of life, Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire has won numerous awards, regularly becoming the most sporty town in the Pays de la Loire region, and earning the Ville Internet 2, Ville ludique et sportive and Ville conviviale labels. Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire has also been awarded three flowers in the towns and villages in bloom competition.
