Haven in Durham

This home fit us perfectly, landing from the west coast to visit long time friends in Durham. The Host was very responsive and welcoming. Recommend it highly.

The Perfect Spot for a Quiet Stay

This house was everything we could have hoped for and more. The property was very clean, beautifully decorated and furnished, and was the perfect size for the 3 of us to stay very comfortably, though it could have accommodated at least 4 just as well. The host was very responsive and kind, and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The house is also well-stocked, with everything from plenty of coffee to details like a shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispenser in the showers - they really went above and beyond in making this vacation house feel like a vacation home! If you want a lovely, quiet place to spend time with a few family members or friends, put this at the very top of your list!

Not as described, bad host

This house was a shock, it was in a questionable part of town where we heard sounds like gunfire or firecrackers and loud music through the night. It smelled strongly of a cheap air freshener and we were unable get rid of this odor during a week’s stay. The bed was very uncomfortable and the mattress was covered with some sort of plastic which make crinkle sounds ever time one moved or rolled over. Minimal upgrading had been done (painting and buying modern furniture) but the door handles were hard to work, the bathrooms were tiny and the kitchen very poorly equipped. There were no instructions at all for anything, and we never figured out the coffee maker. After we left the owner chose to collect extra money because a toilet roll holder had fallen off the wall, we had set a paper art work on the floor of the bedroom to make room for our toiletries in the tiny bathroom, and we had not taken out the recycling although there there was no marked bin for this purpose. When we questioned this, he threatened to file a complaint and also complained we had left him some organic peaches we could not take on the plane and that we had used a plastic glass for flowers. We have stayed in dozens of vrbo’s all over the world since the inception of the website but have never experienced anything like this. This “host” and this property are not recommended.
