Charming cottage on Chaumont Bay, pet friendly, kayaks, dock, ICE FISHING

Historic serene year round cottage located on Chaumont Bay just off of Lake Ontario in the beautiful North country! This is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1400 sq. foot cottage that is great any time of the year with spectacular views of the lake. Perfect for a fall weekend getaway, some winter ice fishing, or a relaxing summer escape. Home includes 75 feet of lakefront shoreline with direct lake access. Dock access available in summer months (June-Sept weather permitting). Enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily life while sipping coffee on the deck overlooking the lake, or enjoy a quiet evening by the fire pit at sunset. Nearby town of Watertown approx. 20 min away, while smaller town of Chaumont only about 5 min from the home for last minute necessities, a convenience store, hardware/bait shop, gift shop, ice cream, and a few local restaurants. Public boat launches nearby in town of Chaumont (5-10 min away) and plenty of room in driveway to bring your boat and/or jetski. Enjoy popular nearby towns such as Sackets Harbor, Clayton, & Alexandria Bay (1000 islands region). Interior of home includes a quaint historic feel, large yard, and plenty of parking. Come enjoy the lake!

*Heat available in colder months, please note cottage does NOT have AC although ceiling fans throughout and in all bedrooms (more often than not you will get a wonderful breeze off the lake)

*Please note this is a rural area and the water in this home is from shore-well with lake water (rural area and city has not put in water yet to this area- but one perk is it keeps the tranquility and with less development/people!). The lake water is good for cooking, bathing, washing dishes, etc.. but I would not recommend drinking the water.
*Please bring drinking water and ice with you*

*MAX 6 guests please, including infants and children
*Home has direct lake access, shoreline is rocky. Please note children must be supervised at ALL times as there is direct water access

*1 well mannered dog okay with prior owner approval and paid pet fee of $125, 2 well mannered dogs okay with paid pet fee of $175. Must be over 1 year old, must clean up after pet in yard and keep off furniture. Please bring your own towels if dog will be swimming & wet. Please DO NOT use towels in home to dry off dog! Dogs must be fully dry before entering home. Additional cleaning fees will be charged if this not followed. Thank you for your help with this.

**There is 1 exterior camera on the property facing the lake. This is not monitored on a regular basis and solely there for security purposes.

Went Fishing

Beautiful quiet town, beautiful lake, nice place to stay. Only negative is the long drive we had to make from Ga. I wished I had someone to pull my boat so I could have flown haha.

Girls trip

This property was absolutely beautiful! Worth the view alone. The house itself was adorable and cozy! We had such a good time sitting by the water. Location was great for traveling to all the local attractions. I would definitely return for another girl‘s trip or a family vacation!

Beautiful Cottage

What A Great Spot

Beautiful location and pretty close to other sites to see. Be careful to read full description of the property as there is no drinkable water. Neighbors were friendly and the lake was awesome!

Cozy cottage

My husband and I came to Carrie’s comfy cottage for the long weekend as my daughter was running the full marathon. The cottage was better than expected. It was clean, beds were comfortable. Kitchen well equipped and what a view and lake breeze. We would highly recommend this cottage. Very close drive into town to the restaurants and activities. we especially loved the fire pit, fire works and coffee on the dock watching the sunrise. Thank you Carrie for shot sharing your cottage within.

Lovely cottage

We just stayed for our 2nd time at the Quaker Cottage and had a great vacation. The cottage is very cozy and clean. My boys loved fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding down the shore. The property is so beautiful and relaxing and the neighbors are so kind.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

The 1920s house is very charming and well updated with nice porches on the front and back. There is plenty of lawn for activities, hanging around the fire pit, etc. There is always a nice breeze, the lake is crystal clear with a nice dock and raft to swim out to. The Quaker Cabin comes with all kinds of watercraft but I brought my own 18 foot kayak and had no problem launching and paddling around Cherry Island, up The Chaumont River, etc. Hoping to return next year!

Enjoyed our Stay

Had a lovely week at Quaker Cottage. House was as described, I knew we had to bring water, but wish I had been aware of the odor of the water. Also a bit of information indicating there was only a charcoal grill would have been appreciated.

Great stay at the cottage!

Home was comfortable for 5 adults. Nicely equipped with everything you need. Neighbors are somewhat close but very friendly and quiet at night. Beautiful yard overlooking the water, beautiful area all around. Thank you Carrie for hosting!

Beautiful cottage on the lake

We had an amazing time staying on the lake with our family. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My boys loved paddling up the shoreline with the kayaks and making s’mores by the fire at night. Carrie was very accommodating and quickly responded with any questions we had. Bonus that the neighbors were also very nice. Would definitely love to visit again next summer!

Quaker Cottage serenity

We truly enjoyed a purely blissful escape to Chaumont Bay at the cozy and comfortable Quaker Cottage from 8/13 to 8/16/24! The hosts were very accommodating and replied to questions quickly. Very well stocked kitchen! The beautiful breezes and peaceful sounds of the water were just what we needed... Our dog, Gracie, enjoyed herself, too! Great location with small stores and restaurants nearby. Clayton and Cape Vincent are a short drive in either direction on 12E with great views of the mighty St Lawrence! Remember to visit Tibbett's Point Lighthouse while in the area. The perch bites at the Crescent Restaurant are fabulous! Thank you, Carrie and Flynt, for sharing your sweet retreat with us! Lovely place to stay on the lake

Toaster was bearly working and not for bagels. Loose board and another board was broken on back porch. Better access to water, stones unsteady. I know water is very low at this time. We really enjoyed our stay. House was comfortable. Enjoyed extra kayaks so whole family could kayak!

Summer 2022 Lake Vacation

A wonderful lakefront property , this is our second trip to the Quaker house, this time with all of our family. Weather was fantastic (for upstate NY) and the owners have made solid improvements since our last visit which included a new water pump and dock. Lots of extras for summer sports included with the property for kayaking, biking and fishing. Remember to bring extra window/box fans to bring the cool lake breezes into the house. It was very comfortable for sleeping at night while we were there. We are already looking at dates to book next year.

Wonderful, Peaceful Cottage

Our family had so much fun at Quaker Cottage! It’s such a beautiful and peaceful little spot. We spent the days outside fishing, kayaking, watching the sunrise/sunset and laughing at the ducks that stayed nearby. Not even the rain could stop my boys from fishing. The neighbors are very nice and the road wasn’t too busy so it was easy to take our dog for longer walks. The location is great because you’re just a couple minutes away from the country store if you need anything. There’s a sign in one of the bathrooms that says “heaven is a little closer in a home by the water” and we definitely felt that :) We hope to be back in the future!

Extended Thanksgiving holiday stay

We would highly recommend the Quaker Cottage as a destination for the upstate lake region. We spent an extended 3 weeks here this Thanksgiving season visiting with family who lived in the area. This is a wonderful old lake home constructed with hardwoods throughout, very capable of accommodating a large family gathering although this trip was just my wife and I and our English Springer Spaniels. Speaking of which, our 2 boys loved the large yard to "socialize" with the squirrels, a huge field across the street for running wild and several snow storms! We are definitely planning to return for another vacation stay, preferably in the warmer months where we can take advantage of the water activities. The owners were fantastic in making the stay enjoyable and they are slowly making renovations and interior restorations. Plenty of utensils and dinnerware for cooking and full modern appliances. The only downside to be considered is this is a true lake house with non-potable water drawn directly from the Chaumont Bay. Plan to bring and purchase drinking water for your stay.

Calm & Quiet Stay at Lakeside Cabin

We spent an amazing week before the school started for the kids counting the Labor Day weekend. The lakeview from the bedroom (downstairs) was perfect to relax with some light music and a book. The kids had fun in the lake. The kayaks and life jackets available at the property was great. We did smores one evening. That was great fun. My kids also rode bicycles that were also available at the property. The back patio and the lawn is very nice and peaceful. Overall a nice cabin to relax and forget the city life. And, it is a REAL LAKE HOUSE, meaning the water for the house is supplied from the lake. So, we did buy bottles of water to drink and cook. Carrie was excellent in communicating all the info ahead of time. So, we were prepared. Also, she is super efficient in resolving any issues you may have during your stay. We had a power-cut because of a storm and the internet got disconnected. We couldn't get it to connect to the TV and she sent someone pretty quickly to help us resolve this issue. Carrie is an excellent host.

Chaumont Bay holds a special place in our hearts, and full of so many childhood and adult memories! It's a special place and we hope you enjoy as much as we always have.
