Bamboo House: Charming Private Tropical Oasis in the Heart of the Village.

Bamboo House is a fully renovated mid century cottage in the heart of the village. It is set within a completely enclosed private tropical oasis comprising a main house with 2 bedrooms and a separate shared bathroom, and two separate guest cottages each with en suite bathrooms. Each of the four bedrooms are outfitted with queen beds, ample storage / closet space and double glazed sound proof sash windows with solar shades. Each of the bathrooms are bright and modern, and outfitted with Kohler fixtures. The kitchen is fully equipped with white quartz countertops, Kohler fixtures and Bosch appliances - plus various coffee making options including a Nespresso machine. This quaint village home has been tastefully decorated in a perfect blend of contemporary modern style and timeless island charm. Lush outdoor tropical gardens surround the cottages and include an outdoor shower and many opportunities for relaxing and al fresco dining. Bamboo House is located on the busy end of Dunmore Street close to the intersection with Clarence Street - which is home to the famous license plate wall. Bamboo House is also equipped with a 24 hour standby generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply during your vacation. In March 2025 another 120 gallon hot water tank was added to ensure ample hot water supply for all guests.

In off peak season, Bamboo House can be rented as just the main house (2 bedrooms and one separate shared bathroom), or the main house plus one guest cottage (total 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) or the main house plus two guest cottages (4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms). In peak season, the entire property (main house and both guest cottages = 4 bedrooms) must be rented. Please note below rates and do not hesitate to further inquire:

Girls trip to Harbour Islands

Love this property!! It’s a gorgeous oasis in the center of the island. Great proximity to everything & super easy to get around! The property manager and housekeeper were wonderful! Would absolutely go back!

One of our favorites on the island!!

This house was absolutely amazing! Pascale and Olga are two of the kindest, most easy people to work with that I’ve ever encountered through VRBO. The house was adorable, and we loved that it was completely walled in so our friends with kids could come over and we didn’t worry about them escaping!! Great lay out for a couples trip. Will 100% rent again!

Bamboo House

Bamboo House is great for families traveling to Harbour Island. Communication with the host was great and Olga kept the house clean and tidy every day. Our only complaint is that the neighbors were very loud playing music and partying outside late into the night.

Simply amazing!

Bamboo house was wonderful- we’ve been to Harbour Island numerous times and it is one of our favorites! The set up works great for our family. Everyone has their own space/bathroom. The decor is beautiful- and the house is so convenient to everything. We walked to The Landing, Valentines, Rock House and DaVine - all our favorite places!! We will definitely be back!

Chic cottage on Harbour Island

We had the best time staying at the Bamboo House. Pascale was incredibly communicative throughout the process. Olga and Dolce on site were fantastic. The true sign of amazing hospitality was when our flight was canceled after a 7 hour delay and Pascale allowed us to come back and stay an extra night. Even Olga the housekeeper was at the house with a smile on her face freshening up the home after our terrible time at the airport. We would definitely recommend Bamboo House.

Wonderful family stay

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bamboo House. The host (Pascale) was great to work with and provided excellent recommendations for us to help us plan our stay and was quick to reply to any questions throughout. The housekeeper (Olga) was invaluable in allowing us to disconnect as she came daily to refresh the house and even lended a hand with our laundry. Thanks to the onsite generator, even with a spotty island power grid the AC stayed cold, the showers hot, and the TV on to entertain the kids when the parents needed a break. While the entire island is always in motion, the high walls surrounding the property created a private sanctuary and the updated windows and doors kept the house quiet. I don’t hesitate to recommend the Bamboo House and look forward to coming back.

Amazing first stay in Harbour Island!

We absolutely loved Bamboo House! It was the perfect first introduction to Harbour Island. It's centrally located to anything you could want to see around the island yet somehow still feels tucked away! The property grounds are beautiful and quiet. The walls surrounding keep out the outside noise, and make you feel safe and secure in an unfamiliar country! The plunge pool was the perfect way to cool off after coming in from the beach, and we spent so much time on the patio hanging out for dinners in. The house itself is a home away from home with a comfortable living area and fully stocked kitchen! The beds are SO comfortable and Olga took great care of us for the entire trip to make sure we had fresh linens and made beds. I couldn't reccomend Pascale, Olga, and Bamboo House more! We'll be back for hopefully many more family trips to our new favorite place :)

Enjoyable stay

Our family (6 adults and one child) stayed at the Bamboo House in early December 2023. We’ve been to Harbor several times and have rented other homes as well. Overall we were comfortable in the Bamboo House which is well appointed and reflects the online photos. Pros: property was clean, beds/linens were comfortable, the aesthetic is cute, and the generator and impact windows were very useful. Power outages are common on Harbor island and we did lose power while there but the generator kicked right on. The impact windows are crucial in this location, which helps tremendously with noise. The location while very central and close to beach is right across from the liquor store, pharmacy and bank (so very busy as the description accurately indicates) as well as next to a property where residents were loud — but the impact windows were great in blocking noise. House keeper came daily during our stay which was very appreciated. Cons: Biggest issue is that there is very minimal hot water. We travel to the Bahamas frequently and understand need to conserve resources and take quick showers as a result, but we could only get through 1.5 people’s showers in our group of 7 before running out of hot water which would take hours to replenish, making it challenging to get ready for group dinner after beach day. As mentioned, location is busy and loud — if you want quiet outside or to keep windows open (very nice this time of year), you’ll hear a lot.

Pre Wedding getaway

Pascale was such a wonderful host! We arrived to the warmest welcome from Olga the housekeeper and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The house has a great layout with the cottages in the back, and once you step inside the gates you feel as though you're in your own private oasis! Easy to get everywhere in golf cart, will definitely return in the future! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Great Property

Beautiful property on a busy street in the center of real Harbour Island. Our family of four (two adults & two teenagers) had far more space than we needed for our nearly week-long stay. The home and the gardens are stunning. The property is basically a fortress, with walls on all side, so views out are non-existent. The outdoor areas are lovely, but we found little time throughout the day & night that was quiet enough to sit out and really relax. This is an indoor experience, which is fine b/c you come here to rest and then go out and adventure. Dolce & Olga were amazing, and Pascale is a great communicator and she's very kind. Bathrooms could use a refresh, but otherwise a stunning space with beautiful art and architecture! Park your golf cart directly in front of the main entrance, and get out early b/c everything sells out fast! Bamboo House is definitely a great alternative to the resorts. Thank you, Pascale and Dolce & Olga!

Great home in the heart of Harbour Island!

We stayed at the Bamboo House as two families of 4 and it worked well for our group. While it is located in a central area near the liquor store and bank, behind your gorgeous gated entrance you have your own peaceful oasis. It has a great outdoor patio space and a plunge pool, as well as nicely separated bedrooms- two in the main home and two in the back. Pascale was extremely responsive and accommodating, and the housekeeper, Olga, came to clean as needed. We recommend this home and would consider staying here again!

The property is very nice. Street is heavily trafficked. There were some issues with the property. Could not figure out to lock any of the doors other than the door to the street. The showers did not have blinds and the main bathroom door had no lock. The bedrooms also did not have black out blindsNo microwave and the exterior lights were difficult to turn off, especially the one by the laundry the stay however was pleasant enough.

Perfect trip on Harbour Island

Bamboo House was a great location for our first trip to Harbour Island. There is a bank, drug store and liquor store directly across the street. We used a golf cart for transportation but also walked to dinner and to the beach as everything was really close by. The house and guest houses are darling and very comfortable for our group of 7. The kitchen was well stocked and they provide drinking water as you cannot drink the water from the tap. There are fresh towels dailyfor the bathrooms and the beach. We loved having a cooler available to pack for the beach and we rented chairs and boogie boards from Ms. V’s, daily. It was all so convenient and the Pink Sand Beach was more incredible in person! Olga and Dolce do a wonderful job taking care of the house. Our checkout was at 11 and they showed up to clean for the next group at 9, which was very awkward as we were all trying to shower and get ready but you could tell they didn’t have an option. Be prepared that there is very little hot water. We all set timers for 3 min showers so that if there was hot water it wasn’t used by just one person. Even with that, out of the 6 nights we were there, there was enough hot water for 2 people to get a hot 3 min shower so we just rotated who got to shower first. If you know this going in, then you can be prepared as our youngest was 12 so she could handle a cold shower. We loved having a washer and dryer. Overall our stay at Bamboo House was incredible and we would rent here again.
