We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at this home. We ended up dealing with a Nor’easter storm the week we stayed but we made the best of it. Location was great with easy access to the beach, shopping, grocery stores, and great food at so many local restaurants nearby.

Enjoyed our stay. Nice space, game room and pool. Property is on corner of busy four lane road with stoplight so pretty loud.. make sure no light sleepers. Also bring your own shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, etc.

Great cottage the pool hot tub and game room kept everybody busy. Didn't even want to leave for dinner.

Very clean and comfy space. Quick access to the beach with golf, grocery, and other needs in walking distance. The host was easy to reach and responded quickly for any of our needs! Would stay again in a heartbeat.

House with easy walk to the beach. 5 bedrooms and every bedroom has a full bathroom. Great house and great pool . The only issue is if you bring a dog to the obx it def has sand thistles. Consider bringing dog booties or baby powder to get the the thistles out . Def recommend the house !

Our second stay at this property We love it However I was dissatisfied with the full dishwasher of dishes and no soap in bathrooms ( some empty and or watered down), I feel the face clothes should be replaced Also the hosts are awesome and kind responses are quick I would come back once again!

There definitely should not have been a full dishwasher of dishes upon your arrival, and we’ll be looking into what happened there with our cleaning team. We do note in our welcome information that we don’t regularly supply hand soap, though sometimes previous guests leave extras behind. Had four generations of families in this house for a week with plenty of space. Loved the house itself. The house was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen extremely well stocked. Loved the fact that every bedroom had its own bathroom! The pool was amazing.! Very nice sized and the water was warm. All enjoyed the game room and the outdoor shower was a must after spending the afternoon at the beach. The hosts were very responsive and great hosts. We did not like the fact that there was only 1 wash cloth and 1 towel per person for the week. The location of the house was both a blessing and a curse. We loved the close proximity to stores, miniature golf and of course the beach. However, the noise of the traffic was horrendous and we were there in the "off" season. The day to day traffic was bearable but the guys in trucks with loud pipes who would fly down the highway all hours of the day and night was beyond annoying. We wanted to enjoy the decks with our morning coffee before the grandkids got out of bed but the traffic noise was so loud we could not even carry on a conversation. We knew the house was on a busy street but did not anticipate how loud the traffic would be or the trucks with loud pipes.

Returned from a week at Mermaid Way. The communication prior to and during the stay was excellent. Check-in and out procedures were clear and accurate. Location was as described. Only an easy 5 minute walk to the beach that crossed one road that was not very busy at all. Entered directly through a public access area that did have space for parking if you didn't want to walk the 5 minutes. The residence was comfortable and fit all our guests in their own bedroom. The house is on the corner next to the main highway so if you are a light sleeper that can be an issue. The trade-off is you have easy access to all the sites in Outer Banks. Able to walk to Publix, mini-golf across the street. Pool was clean and very welcome after being on the beach all day. Did not use the hot tub but it looked well maintained.

Perfect spacious beach house!

Great walkable location centrally located. The pool and hot tub were a huge plus and the upstairs living space was perfect for our group hangouts!

Nice house!

Nicely furnished and equipped house that is also pet friendly. Within short walking distance to the beach, Publix, putt putt, Goombays, Bagels and, of course, Duck Donuts

Fun place to stay!

Mermaid Way was a wonderful place to stay for friends and family. We were at the beach everyday which was only a short walk from the house. There were so many activities at the house and surrounding area we could have used a second week of vacation. A wonderful time was had by all.

Our stay here was wonderful! The host was very responsive with the few questions we had! The hot tub and pool were perfect! Very close walk to the beach and great restaurants! Highly recommend this place for your OBX vacation!!

Overall great time

We really enjoyed our stay! The home was exactly as described and there was plenty to do in the house and in the area to keep everyone entertained. The home could have been cleaned better and the traffic noise was annoying at times but it wasn’t awful. We’d stay there again.

Family vacation 2024

Great vacation the house was great everything was clean and as it stated in the listing! Easy walk to the beach even with small children and the pool was fantastic! Would highly recommend and we are planning to stay here again! Thanks for a great vacation in the Outer Banks !!
