1 MILE FROM SOME OF THE BEST FISHING IN THE BAHAMAS! BEACHFRONT -SLEEPS 8
Welcome to the Neko House - an ideal family, couples and friends home for a great vacation. This 3 bedroom, 3 bath Bahamas beach house is located on the Exuma Sound side of Cat Island near McQueen's settlement. Steps away from the house is your own 150' of private, white & pink sand beach. Enjoy snorkeling & swimming in the calm, turquoise waters rich with coral reefs and vibrant tropical fish. Or explore the many beaches for an assortment of exotic seashells, sea glass, birds and sea life. The House has multiple decks for grilling, watching the sunsets or relaxing.
A fully equipped kitchen awaits you along with all the comforts you would expect in your own vacation home. The entire House is fully air-conditioned, has comfortable furniture, three (3) full baths and an outdoor shower.
Two bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, queen sized beds and are located in the main 2-story house. Linens, bath & beach towels, beach chairs, shampoo/conditioner and soap are all provided. The other building is the Bunkhouse. This is the hub of the house. Here you will find the kitchen, bathroom, four (4) full size bunkbeds, dining area and living room with a sleeper sofa and TV/Internet.
Cat Island is considered one of the family islands. There are approximately 1600 people. The island is 48 miles long and spans from 1-4 miles across.
There are two (2) airports on Cat Island, New Bight Airport (TBI), currently undergoing a complete renovation to accommodate more flights and airlines and Arthur's Town Airport (ATC), only being used for private charter planes. As of now, you can fly to Cat Island on Western Air from Nassau, Maker's Air from Fort Lauderdale or privately.
There are several historical landmarks and is home to the nation's highest elevation. Como Hill raises to 206' above sea level. At the top, you'll find the Hermitage, a monastery built in 1939 by Father Jerome. He also renamed Como Hill to Mount Alvernia after LaVerna, the hill in Tuscany where St. Francis of Assisi received the Wounds of the Cross. From its peak, you can easily see both the east and west coasts of the island as well as an aerial view of New Bight. In the quaint settlement of Port Howe, you can find the remains of the plantation home of Colonel Andrew Deveaux. Deveaux, who was born in South Carolina, sailed to the Bahamas in 1783 and recaptured the Bahamas from Spain, with an army of just 220 men and an arsenal of only 150 muskets.. Another major attraction on Cat Island is the Big Blue Hole located off Dickies Road in the north. This Blue Hole is quite deep and often has strong undercurrents leading to the sea. Many objects thrown in have reached the ocean through the systems passageways. Also off Dickies Road, is the Griffen Bat Cave. Once a hideout for slaves, this cave is now home to thousands of bats. Stand at its opening at sunset and you'll hear, feel and see the bats emerge.
Diving is available on the south side of the island. Oceanic whitetip shark diving runs from March - June. Besides the whitetip, there are chances to see other species such as caribbean reef sharks, nurse sharks, great hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, silky sharks, dusky sharks, blue sharks and even whale sharks! You never know what else you might see; big schools of tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi or dorado, blue & white marline. The walls & reefs of Cat Island are pristine and mostly untouched. Here you can see some incredible corals & sponges as well as the usual cast of characters: moray eels, turtles, grouper, lobster & crab.
Cat Island has something to offer people of all ages and interests. Take in the sights, learn some history, enjoy local cuisine or just kick back and relax on the beach.

We recommend Top Cat Fishing Service. Nathaniel "Top Cat" Gilbert strives to provide the absolute best fishing experience available in the Bahamas. Cat Island is world renowned as a pelagic fishing mecca, its creek and flats abound with bonefish and the crystal clear waters surrounding reefs and coral heads are unsurpassed for snorkeling, with or without a spear. Nathaniel has been plying these waters as a professional fisherman for decades, his knowledge in the area of fishery is unsurpassed. He is one of a very few truly expert Bahamian bone fisherman, both the experienced and novice have learned at his side. His good nature, patience and skill make a day on the flats a day to remember. On the sea, on the edge, is where Top Cat Fishing Service shines. Top Cat has only the most courteous and professional people on staff. All boats are clean, well equipped and adhere to stringent USCG safety standards. From Mahi to Marlin, Wahoo to Tuna, Top Cat is your best pelagic platform. Sue Gagan Àr vÀrd

Neko House is owned by Bill and Sue Gagan who have recently renovated the entire property. Nathaniel "TopCat" Gilbert is our property manager handling all the pre-arrival details. Nathaniel will be your contact once you're on the island. Our first visit to Cat Island was December 2019. The moment we stepped off the plane, we fell in love with the gorgeous water & beaches and the very warm, welcoming residents. We knew Cat Island was a very special island and we hope you come and visit.
