Kate's Canalside Cottage Kayak and fish right from your back yard!

Have a blast this fall! Use our kayaks to explore the canal, bike on miles of trails, catch fish from the backyard, grill on the patio, relax at the fire pit, play cornhole outside or play board games indoors, or take your boat to the river.

Your pets are welcome. The back yard is fenced, and there is a dog park one block away.

LOCAL AREA
We’re located between trendy Marine City and Saint Clair, just minutes from the boardwalk, shops, restaurants, a small public beach, bowling alley, playhouse, and more. Sip coffee at a local cafe and watch the freighters travel down the river from Canada. The Saint Clair river is beautiful and you can clearly see Canada on the other side.

KAYAK ON OUR WATERWAY!
We have two kayaks and an inflatable two-person boat you can launch right from the backyard to explore our canals. If you have a truck, you can take our kayaks just a few blocks away to enjoy a peaceful outing on the beautiful Belle River. We provide many sizes of life jackets.

CATCH FISH FROM OUR BACKYARD!
We have two fishing poles, hooks and line you can use to fish right from the backyard. All you need is a container of worms, which you can find at any nearby gas station that sells bait. Guests have caught lots of fish, including large mouth bass!

SWIM IN THE ST. CLAIR RIVER!
Grab your sunscreen and drive a few short minutes to Marine City to enjoy the sand and sun on a small public beach. Bring your swimsuits and dive into some of the bluest, cleanest water in Michigan. We provide the beach towels.

PARK YOUR BOAT TRAILER!
If you have a larger boat, there is ample parking in our driveway for a pickup truck and boat trailer, and we provide an electrical outlet for charging. You can launch your boat in nearby Saint Clair, where the public boat launch costs just $7 a day. There is a lovely marina, boardwalk, shopping and restaurants for you to spend the day on the Saint Clair River.

TAKE YOUR MOTORBOAT TO THE RIVER!
Low profile boats only. The canal in our backyard connects to the Saint Clair River, but you must pass under a low bridge to get there. A standard, small fishing boat with an outboard motor would be fine. See photos for clearance height.

BIKE MILES OF LOCAL TRAILS!
We have bikes and helmets available for you to explore the paved bike trail that runs for miles through East China and to Marine City.

EXPLORE THE LOCAL AREA!
Walk just one block to beautiful East China park, which features a dog park, hiking trails, tennis courts, and a jungle gym play area for kids. From our front door, the spectacular Saint Clair River and a view of Canada on the other side is only a two minute walk away. And in case you need anything, there is a Dollar General within walking distance too.

BRING YOUR PETS!
Your dogs or cats are welcome. Please let us know in advance if you are bringing a pet. There is a $50 pet fee which covers the first two pets. Ask if you need to bring more. Please make sure to scoop the poop from the back yard and de-fur the house when you check out.

We provide dog bowls, a tie down to leash your dog, a pooper scooper, catnip, and a litter box on request. There's also a dog crate for furry friends who are chewers, aggressive, or have questionable potty skills. Just ask.

ENJOY BONUS KITTIES!
If you're a pet lover, you might run into our two friendly cats, Taro and Meensie, who live nearby. Taro is gray and Meensie is black with white paws. If they happen to come to the door, feel free to let them inside for purrs and petting during your visit. Just make sure to ask for the litter box and text us so we know where they are. (If you don't like cats, just shoo them away and they'll skedaddle.)
