Spring Break Getaway

Pros- the outside area is great. The pool was clean, the decks and seating areas are nice. Cons- Overall cleanliness was lacking. Toothpaste leftover from past guests, some trash left in the bunk room, and mold/mildew and a very musty smell in the downstairs area. There were small roaches in the kitchen/living room area, both alive and dead. We found them in cabinets, on dishes, and one in the refrigerator. The bunk room was much smaller than anticipated, more of a large closet, and the beds are not actually twin beds. We had older teenagers, so they were a little cramped.

Had a great time.

Overall property was as pictured and met expectations. Couldn’t figure out how to get the dock lights to work but also didn’t ask. Caught several keeper flounder off the dock and a variety of small fish and crabs for the kids. Would definitely return.

This was a great house to stay at. House was clean and check in was easy. There is nothing I can say bad about this place. I will definitely try to book this house the next time I come down here.

Christmas Trip

Enjoyed our stay in the house. The freeze didn't ruin it. We were comfortable with all the conveniences of home. Management was prompt when contacted with issues. We plan to return during warmer weather to take advantage of the pool.

Pleased with home

House was clean, it was a nice location. Pool was cleaned right away when called. It was nothing bad where we couldn’t use it till they came. We enjoyed the home, AC worked very well. We enjoyed the pier for fishing and swam while we were there. I wish they provided trash bags but we bought some. I would rent there again.

Decent stay

The home has obviously been effected by the recent hurricane/previous weather. The back door is warped and doesn’t close properly. The first day of our trip, we had unexpected contractors come through the gate to the backyard without our knowledge and quickly put together the bottom part of the broken deck/pier, however we were unable to the top deck as shown in the picture. Would’ve appreciated the heads up that people would be back there all day as we had children wanting to comfortably use the pool. The lower level shower barely had water pressure or hot water. Overall we had a decent stay, but we probably could’ve found something else for the price we paid.

Comfy beds, pool needed cleaned

The property was clean and as advertised. It was a short drive to get to any restaurants or the beach. Our only issue was the cleanliness of the pool. It was green and clouded the day we arrived. After several attempts to have someone out to clean it, they arrived on our 3 day of our stay. They did improve the look of the water enough for us to enjoy the pool for the rest of our stay; however, it was never clear enough to see the bottom of the pool. We enjoyed doing several things around town and cooking dinner back at the house. We had a wonderful stay!

No communication

I have booked this rental property a week in advance and it was cancelled at 6pm the day before check in time. I didn’t receive a confirmation of the cancellation nor notified about my refund until I had to call the agency. The agency mentioned to that the house was still confirmed. I had to call around to make sure if it was confirmed or cancelled due to a family vacation and all the money that was spent. There was NO COMMUNICATION between the rental agency and owner. Ruined my son’s birthday weekend and nobody helped me at all. Got my refund from the rental agency after arguing with them and got the rest of fees that I spent after again arguing with VRBO because nobody will get my refund. I will NEVER use VRBO again. Worst experience EVER.

I was very happy with the location and the view but inside was totally different.

Inside the house needs a lot of work. The kitchen counters were infested with ants, we bought Raid but the next morning it was like we hadn’t done a thing. Cockroaches are still present in fact my granddaughters came home with them in their suitcases which didn’t make anyone happy! The stove only 1 burner worked. I feel the house just needs some major upkeep. The family had a lot of fun in the pool and all of us adults loved the view from the deck, just sad due to the ants and cockroaches it put a damper on things. Probably would never return.

Great property, needs maintenance

My family and I loved staying here for our annual fishing trip. Overall the property was great with tons of room. More than expected actually. We love that we can swim while others could fish off the deck. The fridge was cool when we got there which is a plus and the ac was cool when we got there and stayed cool the whole time. My dad has knee issues so it was nice for my parents to stay in the garage apartment so he didnt have to deal with as many stairs so we were pleasantly surprised by that area. Over all we loved our stay but there is definitely some maintenance that needs to be addressed. For one, there was trash all outside but I am thinking it was from the storm surge that came though the week before. I just would have expected it to be cleaned up by then. There is a shuffle board, but no sand so noone can use it. The underwater fishing lights do not work and it seems they probably haven't for a while. The lights at the deck flicker. The fridge door is hard to close. There is a drawer that doesnt close all of the way in the kitchen and one that the handle is completely missing. The largest room which is upstairs is great but it is lacking a door which is odd. It's small things that are easily fixable but there are a lot of them. Again, overall we loved our stay.

Horrible Spring Break - Do not recommend without significant improvements

Property said it sleeps 15 with 3 bathrooms. I couldn't make 15 work if I brought my own air mattresses. Basement bedroom not usable due to mold all over pillows, blankets and in drawer. Bathroom in basement also not usable due to chain continuing to come unhooked and odor. Not to mention just shier worry of having children sleeping down there with the mold. Blinds broken, couch ripped, cockroaches galore and simple basic amenities at every vacation rental I've ever stayed at weren't included for a week's worth of vacation, trash bags, salt & pepper, aluminum foil, etc. Yesterday, after all the rain the kids walked on the dock and the boards broke and a portion of the dock literally came apart and one child was hurt. I have a 4 year old out there as well, extremely unsafe. Not close to any attractions, everything is driving distance which seemed misleading as well.

Wish it would have been better

The house was OK and needs some improvements. We called the first day as 3rd floor toilet leaking, ceiling coming apart in living/dining room area. They came out next day. The biggest problem we had was the pool. Specifically chose house for this. Chlorine level was 5 times the amount needed. We had our own tester. Called when we got there and no one even called back. Went and bought dechlorinator and corrected issue, but then pool company came and put shock and Chlorine back in. Completely messed it up again. We then had to go to Leslie's Pools to get dechlorinator again just so we could swim. No manager even called until April called on the 5th day. She was very nice and was able to refund us. We only used pool 3 out of 7 days. The owners need to drain the pool completely and start over. It was so cloudy you could not ever see the bottom. Other minor repairs... kitchen faucet needs bolted down, 2nd floor bathrrom you have to lift lid to fill all the time, downstairs bedroom smells stale and we sprayed Febreze constantly. The house is nice and beds comfortable. Just needs TLC and a pool company that knows what they are doing.

Not what was advertised , needs maintenance/work in home

We were really excited about our stay. We went looking forward to letting the kids swim and hang out at the house. When we first arrived we couldn't get in because cleaning crew was still there, even though it was 40 minutes after arrival time. Then after waiting to get in, we went to use the oven for dinner and the oven didn't work. Reached out to the contact number and was instructed that if they didn't call back in 10 minutes call them in 30 minutes. No call, so called back and they said there was nothing they could do but leave a message fir the manager to call the next day. Next morning there was no call back. I called twice more and they said they would put a message in too. Still no call at 5:30, finally called again. They finally transferred me over to the manager and I talked to her. They brought a toaster oven for the fix and offered some money back. Unfortunately, this did not fix the issue and we had to try to cook on this oven throughout the remaining visit. On top of that the maintenance of the home is not kept up. Many items broken, cockroaches in basement, moldy pillows, puke smelling pillows, lots of garbage outside in yard and left around property and we paid a high fee for this home expecting a nice visit and this is not like any of our past experiences.

Clean with tons of room!

Close to the shore. The pool is not heated so pay attention to the daytime/overnight temps. It was late October and we used it in the afternoons. Lots of deck space and a fun gathering area downstairs but I wouldn’t sleep down there as this is Texas and bugs are big and plentiful - that’s just me. The only downsides were the mall right next door and the highway next to that. The property does a great job of privacy for the building next door - didn’t bother us at all. The highway didn’t bother us either but it might someone else. Overall, a great stay. We realized Galveston is a long weekend kind of vacation versus a week. We ran out of things to do.

Wonderful!!

This place was absolutely perfect! The upstairs bedroom and bathroom is beautiful. We had 14 people stay here and there was plenty of room. The kitchen was fully stocked. It is right on the bay and the private pool made the weekend! We will definitely stay here again!

Lots of room. The pool was great and the dock was wonderful for fishing.

The house was a great size. Slept a ton of people. Trendy decor. Downstairs has a garage door great for opening the house up to the pool. Additional kitchen at pool level as well. This was an extra bonus. Boat dock was great for night fishing! Only downside was the house was located immediately next to businesses. Did not affect our stay though. The neighbors to the opposite side were great too! Would stay again.
