We spent 10 days at Villa Chill, and everything about it was outstanding. The owners were fast and thorough in responses to my questions. The rave reviews about the house proved true, and I think it's impossible to state how beautiful the home, views, and property truly are. The main house has a panoramic view to the west and south, with the whale's tail being the main feature. This is our third trip to the area, and this house definitely had the best views.
Huge flocks of parrots live in the palm trees nearby, and oropendolas nest there too. Toucans were common visitors, and we also saw an aracari, and many other small birds. We heard monkeys every morning, rarely saw them. We saw a large troop of coatis a few times on the trail up to the mirador, and bats put on a nightly show.
The property could easily occupy you for a week or more, and we enjoyed daily hikes on the trails that only scratched the surface of what we could have explored. There are fruit trees, a teak forest, and streams running along the property and below the yoga platform (which was a great place to go and get some solitude).
The elevation made nights cool, and seems to keep mosquitos away.
The caretaker, Vin, is friendly and helpful, always be around but never intrusive and I enjoyed practicing my awful spanish with him. Daisy cooked dinner for us three nights, she is fantastic and cooked immense quantities of authentic Tico fare.
The home is in a great location between Dominical and Uvita, each about 15 minutes away by car. We visited most of the beaches between Dominical and Ventanas, and I think Playa Hermosa was the best overall, and is the closest. We enjoyed Costa Canyoning, Jungle ATV, and a boat tour with Bahia Aventuras (all in Uvita), and surf lessons with Dominical Waverider. And the Jolly Roger Bar so close made dinners easy when evening rainstorms made travel difficult.
There is not much I can add to the many great reviews about the house itself, but it does have all modern amenities, kitchen is well-equipped, beds are comfortable, and the guest houses themselves would make excellent main homes on their own.
The road to the house is going to be an adventure for first-timers, but you will get used to it. If you are looking for an adventure without sacrificing comfort or safety, this is the place!
