Mermaid is perfect for a small family or a couple's vacation. This home has been carefully planned for comfort and enjoyment! You will love spending time in this beautiful coastal home. When you step into the home you will find that the living and dining room, as well as the kitchen, are all open to each other making it perfect to watch your children play or having an easy conversation with friends. In the living room there is a sleeper sofa, a child's size table, lots of toys and games, along with a TV/DVD/VCR entertainment center and stereo clock.

There are two bedrooms in this home and both have a large bed. The main bedroom has a sliding glass door to the back patio and yard which is complete with picnic table and lawn chairs. There is a myriad of books and travel guides, along with a fabulous binder, chocked full of information about local places to visit and enjoy. There is even an array of cookbooks for your cooking delight.

This gem is centrally located being just three blocks to downtown, three blocks to the great Manzanita city park, and only three houses from the beach, allowing you to listen to the cresting waves as you relax and refresh. The Mermaid house is so loved for its tasteful simplicity and homey atmosphere that many visitors return to stay here year after year.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Nice cozy house a few steps from the beach

Nice lawn for outdoor dinning, well equipped and nice back deck. Walking distance to town and the beach but away from the crowds. Variety of board games for kids and adults

Perfect Beach House

My wife and I stayed here with my 8 year old daughter. The location doesn't get better between the immediate beach access to a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants. Just the right size for a small family and the beds were really comfortable. It seems rather sparse but it really has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We loved the outdoor shower for washing off after the beach. Would love to stay here again.

Great location, everything you need

Wonderful stay! All the basics covered, and right by the beach. Definitely an older house with character, but clean and functional and updated touches are very nice. We had three adults and one toddler in our party -- a bit squished but with a deck outside and so much within walking distance, it worked.

Great Place to Stay

Great location

The place was a perfect size for our little family. The kitchen was a little rustic let’s just say, but the rest of the house was in good working order. The back yard looked like it had a new deck put in and it was pretty nice to sit on to chill out in the sun. The location was great; just a couple blocks from the main drag which is convenient if you need to grab a burrito from the Mexican restaurant or some eggs from the mini mart. The beach access was one of the highlights for me. Just a quick walk to the beach.

Exactly as advertised

100 steps from beautiful beach—loved watching windsurfers and sailboarders. A short walk to downtown restaurants and grocery store (which makes great sandwiches and offers hot food selections at Deli.). Mom and 3 college students used this cottage as a base for hiking and beachcombimg adventures. Clean and comfortable with easy check-in. Small backyard deck off master bedroom was unexpected bonus. I recommend this cottage without reservation.

The Mermaid House

I've visited Manzanita a few times and stayed in a few places, but this was the best location – just a few blocks' walk to Laneda Ave., and literally half a block to a path that goes to the beach. The cottage isn't large but it's comfortable and pleasant. I'd be happy to return.

Ideal for sunsets, beach strolls, and getting into Manzanita

House was easy to find, easy to move around in, and comfortable for myself and my partner. Stove was older and took a while to cook things on certain burners, oven also older, but for three nights, we had a lovely time.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time in the Mermaid house. The location was perfect. A block to the beach and a couple of blocks to the downtown area. We have 2 year old twins and the house worked out perfectly for them. The house is simply decorated, not too fancy but also not junky. Easy to toddler-proof. An anti slip mat for in the tub would be a nice addition as well as a floor mat for getting out of the shower.

Cute cottage

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The mermaid house has a lot of charm. It's very comfortable and clean. My two young children and I stayed a week and we loved walking to the beach, into town and to the park. The yard is nice to have also. It's definitely small, but we didn't mind. My two recommendations for the property are to get a new sofa and to put a screen/storm door on the front. That would help open the space up a little if you could leave the door open.

Obsessed with this Coastal Cabin

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have rental properties in Manzanita, but needed over flow for a large family event. As an owner, I understand the challenges of creating a warm environment with the practicalities necessary for the rental market. This home is charming, has personal touches including historical informational about the area, a wonderful beachy feeling including a cool outdoor shower, wood paneling, new mattresses and towels, but above all, a perfect location. The cleaning team commented that it was especially easy to clean. I had to drag my husband away! We loved everything.

We loved it!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The only recommendation we would have is for the cleaning person to check the grounds...unfortunately there was dog poop in the backyard. We are very good at cleaning up after our pup but, unfortunately someone else was not. Also, all the vacation rentals always have things like toilet paper. Obviously if you stay at one for a longer period of time, you might run out and need to run to the store but, there is always an initial supply available. Your agreement said to bring your own TP which was quite odd. Its the little things that make a difference and this is one of them...Hubby actually threatened to never rent from SSVR as he felt this was so ridiculous and cheap on SSVR part. We surveyed friends and they felt the same. We've rented from you before and had never seen this. Anyway, its a small thing but, I'd recommend you change it to at least have a roll or two to start and then if any more is needed, the tenants can supply. No worries, as we plan to rent this house again and again and again...but, wanted to share my TP survey as silly as it sounds.

Great house, great location

We loved our stay at this nice little house close to the beach and the main drag in Manzanita. The house was clean and comfortable, location perfect, and we will definitely stay here again.

Great location and a cute house with a great outdoor shower (but could use some updates)

It was a beautiful spot just a block from the beach. Just a short few minute walk to town. The house itself was clean and ready to be lived in. The outdoor shower was "100/100 would shower here again". We would have liked to have some newer things, like softer towels, nightstands on each side of the bed, better access to power outlets, and in general just some newer stuff. But overall it was wonderful. Hard to beat the location!

Mermaid Cottage, Manzanita, just one block from the beach

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We like this property and have stayed here before, two years ago, and would like to stay here again but were a little disappointed that there were some problems, not very nice towels and only two sets for a family of three, sheets were worn and stained in one of the rooms and only one of the windows would open. It was stuffy in there without the ability to open those windows. The mechanisms for raising them were rusted out. The BBQ was difficult to get much heat as well. At the rate rented I would expect not to have those problems. Hopefully this will all he addressed, or the rent lowered... All of that said. It is a cute little cottage in a perfect location. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessaries and well set up for enjoying a family meal.
