Great location, nice property but burdensome management rules

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are regular travelers to Key West. Last year we spent four months there – a month at a time and in four different cottages. The location in Bahama village is first-rate. Close to great restaurants and shops. The property was clean, well maintained and well appointed. The backyard was a real plus. I would definitely recommend the place. Our only problems were with the rules set by the management company. In each previous visit, we arrived mid-day and were allowed to go directly to the property, leave our luggage inside and enjoy an afternoon until the cleaning crew was done. In this case, we were required to drop off our luggage at the management company’s office far up Truman. When I returned mid-afternoon, I was told that the property was not yet ready. I asked that they check, and found it was, in fact, ready. I then asked if they would provide transportation to the cottage – there were company vehicles outside – and was told that I would have to take a taxi. Overall, I got the feeling that we were more if an inconvenience than clients. We would definitely rent a property like La Casita for our next trip but are unlikely to rent through At Home in Key West again.

Earl, Thank you for your feedback. We are thrilled to hear that you have enjoyed the property and also location. We are so very sorry that our check-in procedure did not fit your needs. Our check-in time is 4PM. This information was included in your rental agreement and was mentioned to you several times prior to your arrival. During this busy time we need to make sure properties are clean and ready for our guest's arrivals and until they are completely clean and inspected guests are not allowed to check in. This is also to protect you and our housekeeping staff. However if property is ready earlier and does not have a turnaround (we do not have a guest departing the same day) we can certainly allow our guests to check-in early. For guest's convenience luggage can be stored at our office until the property is ready. We are a small local company and unfortunately we do not provide shuttle service. Our company vehicles are used strictly for maintenance purposes and are not appropriate and safe for guest's transportation. We are happy that you have enjoyed your stay otherwise.

Great Location!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: What this house lacks in size, it makes up for in location! The property is steps away from Blue Heaven and Rams Head Southernmost and is convenient walking or short biking distance to anywhere in Old Town. The lack of parking was a small challenge. You can parallel park for free on the neighborhood streets and move the car every couple of days or you can park in the city garage about 1 mile away for $250 a month. Bring (or rent) your own bikes and beach chairs. We loved sitting on the front porch and meeting the neighbors. Hope we get to return soon!
